The build is getting closer to being “finished”. I love watching a husband/father providing the best for his God given family. Praying the growth of the miracle in Mommy continues healthy. God bless all y’all.
Leaned a trick on the golf course while playing in 90 degree plus weather. Take small hand towels, put them in a cooler of ice with a little water, and you’ll be kept very cool all the time you are working. Never fails! God Bless you and your family.
Rick, thanks for joining us for this week's update 😀 it sure is starting to look more like a house each week! Excited to finish this up and move onto the roof! God bless you too, brother!
That Scapular around your neck made me an automatic subscriber all the way from down under Australia. God bless you and always preserve your beautiful growing family on your journey building the house of your dreams. And as for your beautiful wife, in my prayers for a safe God speed pregnancy and delivery 🙏
Looking great. Just curious, was horizontal 2x4 blocking at the top of the first sheet not needed for you? Still rigid between first set and top set of panels? FYI, I have a newish 18V Milwaukee framing nailer and it sometimes jams or under nails also so I know your pain. Good tip on using a different brand nail to solve the problem. Great videos also.
Boy am I behind! Been a busy couple weeks. Great job on the sheathing project! I know what its like to have to work out in the heat when you really would rather not. We started our coop rebuild project last week and it was upper 80s all week. Unfortunately I don't have the ability to take my hat off when I'm working outside. My top would burn REALLY fast. Keep up the great work! It'll all be worth it in the end!
Hey Adam, glad to hear from you! Hope everything is going well with your Solar setup. Are you completely off grid yet? Yes, better to keep the hat on 😄
@@DIY_or_DIE not yet. I’m getting closer. I plan on putting more solar on the chicken coop “run in” portion, but I’ll need more battery capacity. Electric stove/oven, A/C and dryers all take tons of power.
Good for you man, one step at a time! Since we are going to be moving out of the RV soon, I'm planning on ordering a second EG4 battery bank. In the summer we have to run that AC 24-7 down here to keep the RV below 80 😅 one RV AC for ~14 hours burns through about 75% or our bank.
@@DIY_or_DIE that’s great news on both fronts! I take it things are moving forward with the mobile home? Hopefully you guys can get into that before the new little one arrives! Yeah A/C is essential down there. No way you can live inside that oven without one! Wait till you see one of those “free shipping” deals and then pick it up. Shipping is crazy on those batteries.
You're coming along great man. I watched you cut that long strip very straight I would have hired you as a cut man. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
We are still dealing with a pesky fox attacking our poultry. What little garden we had has been destroyed by the toddler and the poultry (free range). We have some small fruit trees that we are growing, and more to come there. Next year we should have more time to dedicate towards the garden
Hey folks, hope you've had a great week and are feeling a little better. Go easy in the heat! Looking more and more like a house as each week goes by! Interested to see the roof trusses going up, sure you have a plan. Stay safe as always!
Hey Paul, thanks for joining us for this week's update! It sure does look more like a house now, doesn't it? Yes, I have a plan for the rafters...slow and steady, do one at a time, and don't get hurt 😅
Justin it's okay to wear a stra hat, brother. It's vented and keeps the sun off your head and neck. Your hat is cool and all but that thing breathes as well as we would under water😂
Hey there, and welcome 🫡 we are not in a flood zone. Many reasons, easy access for plumbing and insulation. Potential to do something with the space in the future. More beautiful views from higher up!
Great job in today’s journey. I’ve been watching maybe 6 weeks and had a couple questions I’m sure you e answered but I don’t know the answers too. Where are ya’ll located? That will answer what your seasons will look like. Are you off grid with solely solar use? You mentioned loving your circular saw and I see most of your stuff is dewalt. Are u getting good battery life? Does your wife home school your children if you are remote? What are your plans for the land after the home. Really enjoy your content. Your friend from Virginia.
Hey there, thanks for joining us again for this week's update! We are in southeast Geargia, hence the humidity and the heat 🥵 we get all our power from our DIY EG4 solar power system. You can check out some of our earlier videos to see what equipment we are using and how we built the system. We are blessed to be able to homeschool our kids. We have plenty left on the house, but once that is done we have lots of plans for the homestead! We also need a garage, a barn, a shop, and we may decide to add onto the house in the future if we are blessed with more children 😀 there won't be any shortage of DIY projects for sure 😉 I've been using dewalt 20V max for over 10 years and I have my original batteries from my first set of drills. Granted, I've only been using them heavy duty for the last year as we've been builing.building. Our goal for the land is to develop a fully functioning self sufficient mini farm.
Awesome. Yeah I feel you heat with 20000% humidity here in Virginia. Sounds great. Long time Braves fan. Love where they used to have the Richmond Braves. Saw Chipper Jones and Javy Lopez come through decades ago. Anyhow keep up the great work. Use sunscreen on that melon on the rare occasion that hat comes off lol. Be well.
For a "crew of one" you are making phenomenal progress... And that is not exactly a small house you are building there... I look forward to each new video dropping because there is massive progress on each one and that is good.
I’ve always measured and cut panels to fit the opening. Or snapped a chalk line and used a skill-saw to cut it out after. I’ve never used a router when building houses. But this was before routers most likely. 😊
Hello Justin and Lil, yeah, all zip sheeting is up, looks great! I used Zip sheeting on my garage build, great stuff, and I used LP Smart siding to finish it off, also, great product. Has to be a relief having the Zip sheeting done, in spite of the heat, and not feeling well, can't wait for the next update, take care, get well, and God Bless!
Hey Donnie, thanks for joining us again for this week's update 😀 it sure is a relief, and it's starting to look more like a house now! LP smart siding is one of the siding options we like, so maybe we will end up using that too. God bless you, brother!
Anxious and concerned to see how you put up the roof rafters / trusses by yourself if you intend to do so. Loved the pulley system for the walls. I would have done the same, but rafters are another story. Be safe and great job guys!
Justin, you are impressive for measuring, cutting and pushing the Zip sheathing up the studs so you can nail them with less effort than carrying them up for the installiation. Blessings to you.
Thanks for the idea, but my bucket only has a 10 ft. reach. Since the house is 5ft off the ground on piers, the bucket won't reach the top of the walls. I have some other ideas for hauling things up there using lines and pulleys 🙂
Thanks for joining us for this week's updates! We are glad you enjoy the videos! Maybe one day Justin will be able to quit his full time job and we can make more videos full time 😄

Good to know that Milwaukee jams too 😄 I think it's good, but I guess I'll find out when I have the framing inspection...will keep ya posted

I'm not a fan of zip (lower perm than required for where I live in Canada) but I can certainly see the convenience. Faster than sheeting plus tyvek.
It is very convenient!
Happy to not see 4-corners intersections. Better strength. I night have ripped the 9' sheet down the middle. 24" x 96"....Would that fit your framing?
I would have had to trim the end, but I could have done it that way too.
Coming along nicely, great feeling when you see your hard work and progress bit by bit take shape!
Yessir, it is starting to look like a house!
You're coming along great man. I watched you cut that long strip very straight I would have hired you as a cut man. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
😄 thanks for the encouragement! God bless you too 🙏
Justin Keep up your great progress. try a damp bandana around your neck. Hi Lilly & kids
Hey Andrew, thanks for joining us for this week's update ❤️
How is your garden doing? How is the rest of the homestead (chix, duk, etc)?
We are still dealing with a pesky fox attacking our poultry. What little garden we had has been destroyed by the toddler and the poultry (free range). We have some small fruit trees that we are growing, and more to come there. Next year we should have more time to dedicate towards the garden
So just curious .. because we are starting our build. When you painted the subfloor did that protect it from the elements?
Yes, it has worked fantastic
Seems to be going well for y'all, I like using salt water as to over the counter nasal stuff. The kids are growing like weeds. God bless
Thanks for joining us this week! Life is good, God bless 🙏
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Lou!

Haha, yes, it feels like it is part of me, but I need a summer hat for sure!
Lil p4 said cant belive mr L is using irwin clamps. Where are his dewalt clamps!
Haha, well funny story...made an emergency trip to Lowes one day, but Lowes doesn't carry the Dewalt clamps...hence the blue ones 😄
The walls look amazing
And working in that heat is not fun
I enjoyed the video
Hey Louis, glad you enjoyed the video! thanks for joining us again for this week's update 😀
Hi 👋 doing a great job with the house 🏠 building well done 👍 ❤❤❤❤xx😊
Thanks for joining us this week ❤️
A wet hat would work to keep you form getting ba heat injury
John, thanks for the tip!
Building is looking good. I like your choice of ladder.
Thanks, it is the world's most useful ladder 😄
semi new subscriber , why are your piers so high are y'all in a flood prone area
Hey there, and welcome 🫡 we are not in a flood zone. Many reasons, easy access for plumbing and insulation. Potential to do something with the space in the future. More beautiful views from higher up!
Beautiful homestead and family
Thanks for joining us this week ❤️
I am so done with this heat! And rain has been non-existent for weeks and weeks
God willing, you will get rain soon!

I’ve always measured and cut panels to fit the opening. Or snapped a chalk line and used a skill-saw to cut it out after. I’ve never used a router when building houses. But this was before routers most likely. 😊
I figured it would be simpler to just put the full boards up and cut them out afterwards 🤷♂️
That’s fine. I just did it differently back when I was a carpenter. Just keep plugging along. 😊
Nice job keep it up 👍
Thanks for joining us for this week's update 😀
😇 ice cream for all👍👍👍👍👍🙏
Haha, sounds good!
You are doing a awesome job!
Thanks, Keith!
Looking good guys well done.
Thanks 👍
good job ....God be with you
Thanks for joining us for this week's update 😀
great job
Thanks!
Why Can you use air nail gun
I have a pneumatic nail gun, I just prefer to use the battery powered one 😄
This may be a dumb question. Do you caulk the holes on the underside when you remove the blocking? Does this system still need house wrap too?
the joints get taped sealing the envelope and eliminates house wrap. Well as long as you roll the tape with a j-roller.
No caulk needed. Seams will get taped with Zip Sheathing tape once all the boards are installed. No need for house wrap if done correctly.
True!
Thanks for sharing
You're welcome, thanks for joining us for this week's update 😀
Looking great!

Looks great
Thanks for joining us this week!
It looks very well done. You will be successful ✨️ 👍
Thanks 😊
@DIY_or_DIE There is a saying "slow and smooth because smooth is fast"
That's right 😀
Nice. Proud of you all. Through trials and set backs you are still driving on. Continue the good work and praying you get better!
Thanks! We appreciate the prayers 🙏

Nice job
Thanks 😊
Hoping to see you use that special zip roller
Don't worry, I don't think you will be disappointed next week 😄
@DIY_or_DIE Woohoo. Used to think that was nonsense just to sell something but gotta admit there's a method to their madness. 😝
Yeah, I thought any roller would work too, but their roller has special metal z studs so that you know it was done with the right roller 😄
