    Devin just provided a bunch of non-functional junk code.

  • @AdamRobertson

    So it took 4 hours to make a plugin that didn't work and that doesn't even show on the WP site so you can't test any functionality... and somehow you decided that's a success?
    You conclude the files are 'all working fine' (showing a minified js file that you have no idea if it works), that the code is 'all neat and clean' (but there's a .py file in a php project), that there's 'no error in the code' (while showing python code that's nothing to do with a WP plugin and looks like it's starting an http server)... it's all just junk.

      did you notice it creating an updated zip file but named it the same as before? kind of basic thing to do.

    Love your videos... The most telling part of the video about Devin was that you had to give up. I saw very little better than aider which I use a lot. Keep up your awesome vids.

    Thanks for all your videos! The problem I see here with Devin (and with agents in general), is that they never really do the task if it is overly complex like this wordpress plugin. I've yet to see an agentic workflow succeed in making a plugin or really anything decent over say 150 lines of code that includes multiple functions.

    Yes, shows potential. I think these tools are going to need access to the website or a clone and then be able to have access to install and test themselves. Otherwise it is blind shots to complete which will never work. I am into software engineering and that last ten percent can take you many many hours. Thanks Mervin, this gives great info on the state of Devin and its capabilities now. Good thinking on the test case.

    Why did only you get access out of all people, while other RUclipsrs don't have access? So you're the only one who supposedly has it, and of course those who were in the Cogniton trailer. I find it strange.

    @WINDSORONFIRE Месяц назад +6

    If you have to feed the errors back in yourself thats a fail. Imagine a dev that cant test his own code lol. Wake me up when gpt vision is integrated so it can check its own work.

      but Devin isnt able to access the local website, if was a human, Mervin still had to inform the errors; prompt/enviroment was wrong and Devin also fails

    Are you a software engineer? I feel like you are not one if you think that this is going to take your job anytime soon. You cant even see the overall picture of how bad this code really is.

    Add temporary login access to the wordpress site and let it test it. Then see if it can handle the development, anyway these will be a killer feature in 6 months or a year. Coders beware!

      problem is human engineers are more slow and they even only work 10 hours less a day. Devin do work every single moment 7/24 and it's cheaper than human like 1000x.
      U must think Why CEOs will hire you not Devin with gpt5 or 6
