Thanks Carlo! New reality show idea: Home Swap. You can manage my Homekit Home for 2 weeks and I'll manage your Home Assistant home. Then we move back to our houses and see what the other person broke in the first two weeks! Winner is the person who's family still allows them to have a smart home at the end of the month! :)
Cool video and even cooler setup there at home man! Thanks for the video. One of the easier tutorials on Home to follow. Do you have a video specific to using Home with Sonos speakers.
LOL You'll get there Dustin! I honestly live with a sensor-first setup, but having it organized for voice-first as well is really useful when I'm trying to close up the house at night. Might have to do a design video to go through my thought process too... We'll see how this video does. Anyone else interested in this?
Finding balance is always hard. I have a HomePod in my office and one in my bedroom. If the mini-Homepod rumours are actually true, you'll thank yourself for getting your setup organized before hand. :) Really hoping to get my hands on the minis soon!
I have a basement (open concept) I have an area dedicated as a bar area. In order to have the ability to control those lights separately (hey Siri dim the bar lights 50%) meanwhile not disturbing the lighting situation in the rest of the basement Should they be added as a separate room or zone. Also when I ask Siri to turn on the lights she turns on my light strips connected to my tv. then every time I have to go into the app and turn them off manually
Great information Chris. Few questions, is it possible to choose what info is display on the home page status details? Is it possible to group different type of device together eg TV & a Light. Is there anyway to view zones rather then room?
Great questions! For the home page by selecting a device as a “favourite” you decide whether or not it’s in the home page. The other thing in homepage is whether or not the status of the device is marked as active which affects whether or not the devices current status is shown at the top of the Home page. For your second question.- it’s not possible to group different types of devices with the exception that you can change the personality of a plug to a light (hopefully this makes sense). The you can group the plug with other lights. For the zones - this really depends on the app you’re using. Some apps like Hone 4+ and the Eve Hone app can show the rooms in zones much easier than digging in the Apple native home app. Hopefully this helps!
Great video Chris. Love the green screen work. Every new homekit user needs to watch this.
Thanks MDT! Really hoping this was useful!
Very helpful. I'm sure you've answered lots of peoples' questions. Thanks Chris.

I’ve done a few Sonos videos but more as a review than how to work live with Sonos in an Apple Home. I’ll add that to the list!
@@Homekitgeek Thanks man!
Oh man. Thanks for the tips! My setup is a total mess! Great video too!

Chris Young I think my sensor and automation focus is why my setup is a rats nest.

You need an audio upgrade.
What are you thinking? Always looking for ways to improve!
