Thanks for the review, the best feature I find is the integration with the iOS calendar, so when I come downstairs in the morning and just say “hey Siri what’s my schedule“ it reads out all the items from my calendar - very useful and “hands off” while I’m making coffee etc.
We have long resisted getting an Echo. Never really saw a need. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB When we recently completed some remodeling in our home, we realized we had failed to add a switch to turn on a certain lamp across the room. We couldn't run new wiring (which would have been expensive if we could), so we got our first Echo which completely solved our problem for about $40 (Echo Dot and smart plug). We just ask Alexa to turn on/off that light. Heartily recommend it to solve this kind of conundrum!

You can also restart the HomePod mini through settings, reset, and select restart. Handy if the beam feature stops working.

Ok first off thank you for exposing and SHOWING US ON YOUR IPHONE how and where to go to activate or change these features. I hate it when RUclipsrs say oh ya go to your home setting and change it there and not ACTUALLY show us in the video how to do it. To me it’s like, dammit show me the steps and actually do it in the video so we can see how and where to go. Appreciate you, you got my like, comment, subscribtion and respect for this. Please make more content like this because it’s very helpful.

I’ve heard so many good reviews about this so decided to purchase one. Currently I have Alexa devices around the house but I have iPhone and Iwatch so decided to go for this. However I am finding that Siri doesn’t work properly as I have to ask what I want a number of times before it does respond. I’ve never had this issue with Alexa. I just wanted to buy one to test it out before I replace my Alexa’s but unfortunately I won’t be replacing my Alexa’s.
Whenever I try talking to my HomePod by saying “Hey Siri” it always triggers one of my other devices (Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, etc). Any tips on how to stop this?
Can you listen to RUclips from your iPhone? I do homeschool and we listen to books on RUclips. I can’t get it to connect, maybe it’s user error?
Nice video but I have two Home iPod minis, one of which is not working properly and that it is the one closest to my iMac and modem and it is only answering some of my requests and there seems to be a source of continuous background music. I call it that and I can't find the source which I assume is in my Apple Music but I can't shut it off, I can play certain selections but that's not a problem. How do I shut off the continuous Apple Music??

No reason to use a personal hotspot for Airplay. As you mentioned about the speaker access setting, if it's set to 'everyone' then no wifi network is needed. Make sure to change this setting before leaving your wifi network.
That setting is for devices accessing a HomePod that already has a WiFi connection. Hotspot would be for the HomePod that doesn’t have WiFi at all.
@@iDB Give it a try, I have been using it that way for 2 years. No internet connection to the HomePod at all. I just got mine and I am really dissapointed that it can only play Apple Music, which I dont plan to have. I have a huge library of iTunes bought music and I would have expected that it can access them (without using Airplay on the iPhone). I tried changing the primary music type in the settings (as you showed) but I only have the option for apple music there. Very dissapointing
I don't have an Apple Music subscription and when I play a song from my personal library on my iPhone, I can bring my iPhone close to my HomePod mini and the handoff function passes the song that is playing to my HomePod and it starts playing there instead of on my phone. As long as my phone is on the same WIFI network as my HomePod, it will keep playing the music that I have stored on it.

I just want to say that I bought one which I regret. Yes the cable bothers me. It’s not blue tooth and it requires WIFI 😭.
So if you can put up with that buy one.
Just tap your phone to your HomePod and it transfers. Little like how you used to share pictures and other things in the first gen iPhone.
I bought this for the amazing microphone but I just want to connect via bluettooth the audio. I have to use damn airplay.

I would honestly recommend Amazon Alexa if you have an android. It’s just overall more compatible and I think it’s still good sound quality
so literally you cant play music without the wifi? and hows the bluetooth works? can it play through bluetooth wihout the wifi?

too bad we can’t use it as mic and speaker on calls (skype, zoom, etc). There is not equalizer for every audio. And no Spotify (touch to enable Airplay doesn’t work sometimes). We can’t tell Siri to put computer/iPad to sleep etc.

It’s called intercom. You need more than one HomePod to do so and won’t send the message to your iPhone :(

The fact that you need Wi-Fi and that the cable is non-detachable is a complete no no for me, which is a shame as I usually love everything Apple makes.
Even so it’s still amazing. Maybe give it a shot it’ll surprise ya 😃

Just ask it directly to speak up or set volume. Example: hey Siri can you set your volume at 40%
She will get louder but your media will still stay the same. Hope that helps. Voice commands are so useful

I got a second one hoping to make it Louder and still it’s not loud enough. Can I make it louder? Cause it’s low AF! It’s honestly the most disappointing smart speaker I ever bought. Biggest regret. Also anyway when using Spotify their isn’t a lag between songs when I’m switching? This is stuff no one mentions and it’s annoying! Someone make a real video and the major flaws in it

It is a bit confusing because it is not a portable Bluetooth speaker. It’s a wired device that stays in one place(with Wi-Fi) hence the name- HOME pod.
