Remember, this guy beat Kratos when he was a normal man. Then he fought his way out of Hades, which could be its own game, gained magical powers, and came back to fight again. He's epic, and shows just how improved Kratos has become, considering he beat the enhanced Barbarian King without the help of a god.
I would play that game. Im not a fan of ps5 kratos

@@lobardodelainternet4253 From what I understand. Krratos really hates selfish leader/captain. And, that sea captain left his crew to fight the Hydra alone (GoW 1). Which is why Kratos didn't help him in GoW 1
And, because it's a running joke in the GoW series lol

The captain didn't just abandon his crew, he tried to contain the Hydra too, but he was eaten by the main head later on, and it happened while he prayed for the gods, not even running away for his own life. I also don't think Kratos values things like that so much, considering that he caused the destruction of Sparta in his fight against Poseidon when he could've reunited with his people to make a plan against the olympians. I honestly believe Kratos just did it because he was an asshole.

I remember the time I used to think these were some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen. Regardless of the graphical updates I will always come back to this game with appreciation 🤔👌

People did pay attention to graphics, but good graphics were a bonus and a pleasant surprise rather than a dealbreaker. God of War was praised for it's epic set pieces and sense of scale, and people were amazed the PS2 could handle it. PC was a given but rarely even on PC you had such quality code and optimization
It was the graphics that made GOW1 get second (later) boost in popularity. A year after it's release word of mouth started to spread that the game looked amazing for a PS2 game and was fun. So it had a decent start and went platinum, but people only realized how amazing it truly was a year later
Basically, going Platinum made it even more popular because it was cheaper, and organic word of mouth and accessibility made it explode. It was a cult favorite before that
@home9dog2blue Graphics were an added bonus but it wasn't like we didn't appreciated good graphics. The first time I played God of war, I was literally awestruck and was like "Damn, the characters and everything look so real" most of the games were 2d, so even getting to play a 3d game was a pleasure and felt like this is the best thing but GOW was just something else. I still can't forget the closeup to kratos face in GOW 2 in which we could see his skin pores. Those were some good days.

Weird how the guy who technically almost killed Kratos became such a pushover.
To his discharge, the Barbarian King only managed to escape from the kingdom of Hades... Meanwhile, Kratos already Killed an hydra, a mechanical minotaure, a sh*t tine of livings, of deads, of creatures, some heroes, minor deities... And killed the God of War to, in the end, take his sit. Ah, also, he escaped the styx river TWICE.
Even powerless, Kratos went through some sh*t before this fight. He had not a chance.
Kratos had come a looong way in power since their previous encounter.
He was physically empowered by the energies of the blades when they first attached to him(seen better in chains of olympus when he nerfed himself to be reunited with Calliope)was then trained and stated to have given more and more power under Ares,according to the novels he became stronger and faster every time he killed with the blades of chaos for the 10 years of servitude(canon version of red orbs essentially).We also get many statements that he grew stronger throughout his adventures
So even if he isnt at his peak at this point of the game(he does get a massive permanent amp from Atlas even when he doesnt use the ability according to the novel) he was still able to kill Alrik who was actually stronger than ever here.
I think Alrik was Hades son honestly,first off he is way too big for a mortal,his body type and overall structure resembles Hades,Hades also sent a illness to Alriks "father"(hmmm) and choose him as his champion and somehow Alrik came out of Hades and had new powers?
@@newhybrid101 bro 100% alrik was hades son. No way a normal human could have beaten kratos. Before I saw this comment I just thought kratos lost because he was outnumbered and everyone has a limit but its that plus he had to fight another demigod. Somthing he's never done before
@@newhybrid101 also never had the chance to talk about that whole ambrosia quest with somone who knows about it. So did you realize kratos had to go to the underworld and save his daughter from a mysterious illness just like he does for atreus.
All of them atreus, calliope, even kratos himself were unaware of their Godhood for a good portion of their lives. However I don't know which would he stronger in power. Atreus whos power was so great it couldn't be contained and was killing him or kratos who even with all his power, never burned out, never got sick, never almost died from himself not knowing he's a god. Makes you wonder.

If the barbarians decended on the Spartan actually if I'm not mistaken the barbarians were VIKINGS and VIKINGS had NORSE MYTHOLOGY as their main God's but in the game we see that Ares came down to help but no one helped the barbarians from the NORSE SIDE.
Greeks called all non Greeks Barbarians. The Barbarians were probably from the middle east not the north.
They were probably the Scythians since they were the biggest threat to Greece before Alexander The Great.
Even if you weren’t aware the Greeks called everyone who didn’t speak Greek barbarians, what could possess you to think that the most likely identity of this guy was a viking? The vikings never even approached Greece, and these guys don’t look anything like Norsemen.
@@metoo3342 First of all before you get to the middle east you have to cross Turkey which in itself is not a small country by any means and second most of the barbarians recorded in history were the Visigoths and Ostrogoths and these people were from Germania (present day GERMANY) Scythians were in the north Aka Russia and many Scandinavian countries also known as VIKINGS . All of these people are considered Barbarians because they didn't speak Greek nor they serve the Roman empire.
Why would they? Both series established the gods as uncaring and self-motivated. To Ares, Kratos was his master plan to defeat Zeus, and manipulated his life so he's be forced to make a blood oath to him.
To Odin and Thor, Alrik is some dude with a hammer. Alrik probably beseeches Hades rather than Hela because he likely converted to Greek beliefs after being freaking decapitated by a Greek God.

I understand why Kratos has superpowers, but how do the Barbarian and Persian Kings have them too? Aren't they mere mortals? Kratos at least is semi-divine and kills gods/titans/demigods to take their powers.
Perhaps, pretty impressive they can last a round or two with Kratos. I'd like to see their stories, maybe with the Persian pantheon and some barbarian deities. I know Barbarian deity is a pretty vague category but they never established the Barbarian King's people.

8440k they are on GREEK territory. Each pantheon of gods hold dominion of areas of the EARTH realm. Greece - Zeus(greekgods) , Norway(norse gods)- Odin , Egypt - Ra (egyptian gods) , Asia - not yet revealed.
