For people wondering what was going on when Midas touched the lava: In the original myth, Dionysus told Midas to go to the river styx and wash his hands in the water, and his curse would be lifted. However, Midas is on the brink of starving and dehydration and is unable to think clearly. He hallucinates the lava is the river styx
Interesting, could you also tell why kratos wanted to kill midas

-boi... i once killed a man that could turn anything into gold....

There are more than chest there are a chest and some red sphere bois, totally worth it
Let's Pretend a golden chest that I couldn't open... One of my worst memories to this day...
That's why the series got way too predictable for me. Kratos meets someone and 3 minutes later he's murdering him.
David Marks Icarus, Midas, the Boat Captain, that one girl in Poseidon’s Domain.
This happened in God of war II too . Perseus wanted to fight so he can revive his dead family , when he attacked kratos and then kratos killed him . Kratos reunited Perseus with his family lol.
Yeah, sure. Kratos united A LOT of people... Such a good samaritian.
Imperative Games Ohh yeah,definetely...
Imperative Games Yeah, he just have a very unique style in reuniting people.
I feel like Perseus kinda went insane though, because there was a bunch of shit he said and did that made absolutely no sense. Running around in a shallow pool kinda kills the purpose of becoming invisible, he has a shield but he doesn’t use it to block Kratos’s attacks, he thought for some reason that he should try to kill Kratos, the guy that pretty much made god killing a profession, even if the sisters of fate didn’t directly demand it of him, and he claimed to be trapped despite a large opening with some ledges to climb over. I get that Perseus isn’t the most agile, but it’s better than just sitting around waiting for a door to open, especially if you’re on a mission.
@@JacOfAllTrades.
Yeah, Perseus was clearly not all there.

Kratos: I mean everything. His food, his drinks, even his daughter.
Atreus: That sounds less cool.

It was merciful brutal but merciful if you look at it from his perspective. The gods cursed midas into having immortality he cannot die and everything and everyone hes loved have turned to gold. When your thrown in lava your nerves kick in so fast it sends to much shock to the brain that you’d get knocked out almost instantly.
I believe he didnt do it for himself but also because the gods cursed Midas. he hates the gods more then anything and anyone. He’ll kill anyone who hates them aswell if they get in his way but he truly understands there pain and suffering and respects them a lot to some degree

I can’t believe we live in a world where this guy is a legitimately good father
Same, Kratos can be a real POS sometimes. No wonder he didn’t want Atreus to know the truth

ATREUS: "Wow, really?"
KRATOS: "Yes, and yet, the king was not satisfied, for despite being able to attain more wealth than any mortal man could ever dream of, he could only think of the wealth that would be lost to him after his life had come to an end."
ATREUS: "But riches aren't worth anything after you die. Couldn't he see that?"
KRATOS: "Perhaps he was too blind to see , or he saw it too clearly, and feared it. Either way, in order to avoid this fate, he struck an even bigger bargain and was gifted with immortality, so that he could add to his riches for all eternity."
ATREUS: "You'd think that being born a king, who has so much already, he wouldn't turn out quite so greedy."
KRATOS: "Even kings can suffer from a commoners weakness, though he was not completely devoid of humanity, for the only thing that outwieighed his love of gold was the love for his daughter, Marigold."
ATREUS: "He named her MariGOLD? Talk about obsessed!"
KRATOS: "An obsession that would cost him, for the god that had given him his ability saw his second wish as an act of ingratitude, and changed the rules of it. Instead of turning only the things he wanted into gold, now EVERYTHING that came in contact with him would turn. He could not touch his food or drink without it turning into treasure for his treasury."
ATREUS: "But he was still immortal, right? Even if he could not eat or drink, he could never die, right?"
KRATOS: "He could still feel the hunger and thirst, and since life loses it's appeal if you can no longer enjoy it's pleasures, the king grew depressed. The only one to comfort was his daughter, who thought she could ease his suffering by feeding him. However, in a thoughtless moment, she cupped his chin in her hand with a loving gesture when trying to give him a drink of water, and was herself turned into a golden statue in front of his very eyes."
ATREUS: "... That is so sad. His daughter was innocent and he loved her, and yet she died for his mistakes."
KRATOS: "Hm..."
ATREUS: "What happened to the king afterwards?"
KRATOS: "Unable live with his mistakes, and unable to take his life and be free of his suffering, the king lost his mind to grief and wandered in regions unknown and perilous, hoping that the gods would one day forgive him and let him cross the river Styx."
ATREUS: "Did they?"
KRATOS: "No. Instead he was freed as he came across a man much like himself, cursed and manipulated by the gods. Having heard of the king's story, the man threw him into a different river, which turned the river into solid gold and encased the king, trapping his corpse in there forever."
ATREUS: "...Why did the man throw him in the river?"

Well, he tried. It's just that Kratos blocked his attempt.
Kratos might be angry and violent but he’s not a moron
He turns you into gold if you fail the Q.T.E.
Every episode of God of War is an episode of American Ninja Warrior
Atreus : father, do you know the story of midas? Who turns whatever he touches into gold?
Kratos :..........yeah, i killed him, boy
At least he finally let that old king to rest, and let him be free of his curse.
You can say Kratos really "had a heart of gold" LOL........kill me now.
Imagine if kratos faces off odin and thor in god of ragnarok with the personality he had in earlier god of war games...
The game would be too short if he still has this personality and Aggresiveness XD
When Midas died, 24k magic should have played.
Pretty sure Thor gave advice about dipping your hand into lava
Kratos, in doing a bad thing, actually helped Midas. Kratos is like curses to have the opposite effect of his intentions. He wanted to help freya, ended up hurting her.
Bruh he did it so he could get a chest.
@@sakethkankanala7923 yeah I was saying he helped Midas tho cause he basically freed him from suffering
@@sakethkankanala7923 why you acting like the chest is apart of the chronological storyline. It's there for the player.
Well, Kratos only "helped" Midas if Midas actually *died* from the goldification process.
@@Revenante_of_Asylum well eventually midas woulda died
"BOI, I killed many who were deserving... And many who were not."
Put that in your head
This is Kratos that i know and love, just throw someone in to the lava and leave like a boss
should have made it his left hand or just his right, hell even having the power to turn something to gold by thought alone would have been enough
Midas: Why won't the gods let me die?
Kratos: i can relate, but dont worry I'm one of those what you'd call, "merciful" gods
