I remember the first time I heard that song. The way Hank narrated it, you could plainly see the story playing out in your mind. I remember when he got to the end, I was like, “Woah. Didn’t see that coming”.
Sheryl George is talking about the different style of songs between Luke the Drifter and Hank Jr. Hank Jr wanted to sing his songs when he first started to tour. He would sing a few of these songs at shows, but the public wanted to hear his daddy's music. They would shout, "sing your daddy's songs. We want to hear his music". This was the reason Hank Jr changed his style to outlaw country music. ( He knew he could never follow in his father's footsteps). Family Tradition was born along with a new era of country music.
Hank sr was the OG luke the drifter before he passed, "hank williams as luke the drifter" album was alot of the sad stuff he wrote after his Audrey left him
I absolutely Love Luke The Drifter Jr....do NOT like Hank Williams, Jr, tho....absolutely not the same....this whole album was one of my MANY MANY Albums from my growing up hears!
LOL....same person. Luke Jr., Bocephus and Hank Jr. We refer to him around here as the 5 time Entertainer of the Year. If you count Great Britain in '71, he is the 6 time Entertainer of the Year.
@skeetabix36 . Oh, it's been around, just not played all that much. I remember hearing this back around the 70s and 80s, My mother has the 33 rpm vinyl one that is pictured in the video. Uncle john on there is also a good one, and so is the one called At The First Fall of Snow.
