Thanks, Baka for sharing this is my 4th video reaction to Reactors Reacting Let's go and I love Saiki and Miku's vocals on this track all around a banger eh
Excellent analysis! I read somewhere that the location is the same as the video for Dont You Tell Me, thank goodness the girls have matured enough to not make it look like a mess again, lol. It's a standard video, with quality, beautiful images and what sells the most of this band, their musicians playing, but I admit that I would love for them to do something again with Kojima, the director of Domination, in my opinion their best MV to date. The song has been steadily rising in my preferences and I already consider it the best on the album without a doubt. Thanks Howard!
Thank you, so kinda of you! I agree that Domination is a fantastic video, and ironically isn't too far removed in concept from most of the others, but you can really see how that director nails both visual clarity, themes, and impact in a way that is really top notch. However, we only saw them direct that single video, and if we had only seen the usual person do one video, we may be saying something similar the opposite way around. I think After-Life remains my favourite because it conveys so much energy and chaos without even moving the camera from a single spot. It's a real "give me a corridor, a tripod, and hold my beer" kinda moment that I adore! This director though, I certainly can't complain, just feel like if I had Band-Maid on hand for every video, I would have tried some more different ideas by now. Oh well, safe is better than a sucky video right? Also, glad you are enjoying the song. It's a fantastic composition that gets better with listens. I agree totally!
The songs already released earlier in the year are just Band-Maid awesomesauce! The six new songs are so tightly integrated and complex, it's going to take a Tokyo minute to assimilate. But I already love Forbidden Tale, and especially The One. 😉🤘 btw - We should all wish a "Good Luck" to Band-Maid's new self-run management company: Maidit, Co., LTD! Thx, Howard!
Thanks Tom! Basically agree here, although I must say how impressed I am at how well the previously withheld songs fit in with the pre-known singles. Now we can just appreciate it as a singular album, it does feel cohesive and varied in a way I like. Regarding the management company, I have it on a few good sources that they mainly just repurposed a few of their already existing management staff after their previous management was wound down. Therefore, I think they'll be fine and it is mostly just a cosmetic change, although I am sure it will give them a positive feeling to know their name is above the door :) . Peace of mind goes a long way!
Personally I have no problem watching these ladies whether it's on a live vid or up front and center in a studio video. I just love watching them rock out and being the rock stars that they are!
One unsaid thing.... The amps were turned on😄 Saiki seems to be very prominent in this, not just this but also doing 90% of the radio interviews and appearances🤔 (40+)
It seems this song meant a lot to Saiki and Kanami from what I have read about its concept, but that is an interesting observation! I must say, we are used to Saiki being a powerhouse leader, but this song really sits well with her and shows her in a very good light. Really glad to see Saiki getting to be front and centre in such a powerful way and in such an incredible song :) !
On the MV - we already know the song - I'd say it's their best for at least a couple of years. If you know the background to the lyrics, this was very well encapsulated by the hand/shadow interaction (which I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else do, but I haven't). I have to disagree with you about something, so here goes.... I'm glad they didn't cut to a crowd during the pause. I was also expecting it, but only because it's become a cliche. MtH seem to do it in every other MV, and I hope that alone will be enough to turn you against the idea 😉
Thanks for that point of view and challenge accepted! I can't speak for the band-that-shall-not-be-named, but it almost seemed a bit weird to have an obvious detour moment in the song and for the video to just freeze like a deer in the headlamps. It was like something was supposed to happen at that moment but no one knew what. I agree that it could be cheesy to have an audience shot, but just something. Even have the MV glitch or the lights in the room flicker off and back on again. Just something would have been nice. That being said, I feel that this director's trade mark is being a safe pair of hands, but really missing opportunities to do something creative. A little basic symbolism at least gives a bit of unique charm, and the band just being Band-Maid is always the best saving grace ;) Going point though, I await your reply ;)
@@BakaBreakdown I do agree that the director's approach of "find a visually appealing backdrop and just film the band playing there" is unimaginative and has become repetitive. It was 100% of the MVs for Shambles, Bestie and Protect You (also Show Them, but that was the right decision), so being only 90% of this one is an improvement. Plus the other 10% brings out the meaning of the song without being a bit on-the-nose like some older MVs (e.g. Start Over, The Dragon Cries).
@@kicorse Not to dump on the director too hard, as once again I think they do actually create very servicable videos that do have good movement and show the band well, but I do think the cliche'd imagery can be a little bit of a negative also for me. I wasn't a big fan of the Adam touching god imagery here or the stare-each-other-down thing in Show Them. You could argue Domination did the same, but there it was clearly hyperbolic and quite stylised. With these other videos, It's not that the artsy stuff doesn't work at all, it's just so obvious that it feels a little cliche and university art project lol. Like you mentioned though, it's that curious factor that the videos basically do 90% of everything right, so any other complaint actually makes ME sound like the pretencious arse 😆
Hi there! Ok, so a fairly layered answer to this. Although my Japanese isn't perfect, it has improved a lot in the last few years and so I can understand quite a bit. I must admit that lyrics are still a bit harder to make out than normal speech, but the other factor is really that I am not a huge lyric listener anyway. I know lyrics can sometimes really elevate a song, but I tend to only really tune my ears in to the lyrics on a few artists. Band-Maid is more just one of those bands where I like to get lost in the arrangement, and even if it was in English I probably wouldnt be able to tell you what it was about after the first listen 😂. You can imagine my shock when I finally actually thought about the lyrics to Don't Let Me Down for the first time like.... "wait a moment... what?" 😂 Certainly I will be looking over the lyrics on any song where people tell me it's relevant. I did therefore read up on this song, as I love it so much. The concept and seemingly the motivations seem very strong, but I must admit that lyrically it doesn't hit me especially deeply. I find the lyrics nice and thougthful but not quite as emotionally powerful as the motivation behind them. THAT SAID, it isn't impossible that certain poetic nuance can be lost in lyrics when you are not a natural speaker of the language. For my the lyrics were thoughtful and nice though. I think the musical composition was conveying the emotion already though, so I certainly got all the right feelings just from the music, which is afterall, the sign of a great composition :) Those are my thoughts, hope that was interesting!
Not my favorite Band-Maid song, but it is fairly decent, my only complaint is that I feel the vocals are buried a bit in places by the drums, you can still hear her fine just wish she was a little louder.
The more I listen to this song the more I like it.
Oh btw, Sai-chan is so beautiful❣

Great song and video. Nice to see Kanami playing her new, custom PRS.

Can't say fairer than that :)
This drives like Rinne and riffs like After-Life.. so good

Hi BAKA got your back BAKA! I just finished watching it with the subtitles and yes it was EPIC!!!!!🕊🍌🍻☕⚾
🥳🤘 Thank you so so much!!!!!
It'll be interesting to see which way their indy label takes them. Will they sign new artists?
They are not a recording label but a management company.
