    In this video, professional deer manager Chris Rogers presents a step by step guide to deer skull preparation.
    If you want to preserve the memory of your hunt by preserving a "hunting trophy" to hang on the wall, this head prep tutorial is all you need to get it right first time.
    Chris demonstrates how to prepare a deer skull using a long nose cut, a short nose cut, and a full head, so whichever style you prefer, this video will cover it.

    Good stuff and really informative, but a wee word of caution for your viewers. Having cleaned several hundred Deer heads I stopped using the powerhose as I found out the hard way that even old heads could be blown apart by it ! When i’m doing heads for clients I prefer to do them hands on 👍🏼🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

      Aye, you have to be careful with the pressure washer but it does make the job easier and better for cleaning up full skulls and long nose cuts.

    Great video, we are doing it the same wary, but we are using 30% peroxyd, we can still get them. Thank's for it.

    Very interesting..
    "Putting in the freezer" bit I presume is to loosen the tissues and kill off most of the bacteria, but is there a reason you didn’t skin/clean the head BEFORE youput it in the freezer?

      @chrisrogersdeer7689 11 месяцев назад

      A few reasons, it kills off ticks and keds, but mainly because I do a load together rather than one at a time. They can be kept in the freezer indefinitely but after a few years the skin can dry out and be hard to skin.

    Is this a long job happening a lot or just time a year?

    • @chrisrogersdeer7689
      @chrisrogersdeer7689 11 месяцев назад

      All through the year on different species or heads kept back in the freezer.

    Would you use the same process for any skull?

    • @chrisrogersdeer7689
      @chrisrogersdeer7689 11 месяцев назад

      Yes, any skull but be more careful with smaller species as the bones will be more fragile.

    What size burco works for up to red heads?
