First class review. Very practical helpful advice regarding checking out the space and range etc.

Top review Nobby. Totally agree with you on the price of the cars. I'm sticking with diesel until it's no longer economically viable for me to do so. Yes I know diesel has fallen out of favour with the public but it's still the best fuel for motorway driving and economy and I'll reckon have no bother selling mine in 5 years as mine's a rare model so that should count in my favour. As for having to reduce your speed on the motorway I couldn't be annoyed with that tho' I understand the principal as any car whether it be petrol, diesel or electric will be easier on their chosen fuel if you drive slower but having to do so just to make it to the next charger isn't what I'd want to be doing as I prefer to stick to the 70mph speed limit. If you want to do big miles in a Mokka there's also a diesel one as you know.

@@stevencampbell1150 it's crazy here in the south, they want push people into EVs so increase tax on petrol/diesel so becomes to expensive to run and then when people are slowly moving to the dark side they increase costs of electricity forcing people back to ice cars, like you I stick with my ice for now, we have been here before with diesel seen as clean then your punished so looks like same thing going happen with the ev craze

    • @stevencampbell1150
      @stevencampbell1150 3 года назад +1

@@mickdaly6537 I know what you mean, unlike in the south diesel is more expensive than petrol here in the north and it's steadily going up. I had a local dealer wanting to buy both mine and my wife's car due to the shortage of second hand cars which is if course also down to the chip shortage for new cars. I told them no as did she. They said to me oh everyone is driving electric or hybrid cars. I explained diesel is the only one that will work for me due to the motorway driving that I do as both electric and hybrid cars need braking to regenerate their batteries and what's the one thing you're not doing on the motorway? Yep! Braking! I said I'll not be changing my car for at least another 5 years and when I do I'll be getting another diesel at which point the salesman said oh you'll struggle to get a diesel in 5 years and he may be right... if you're buying new, second hand tho' that's a different scenario altogether for tho' I might not get as much for mine at that point I'll equally get another one cheaper second hand provided the fuel itself isn't too expensive at that point as that will ultimately be the deciding factor bearing in mind that the whole point of a diesel is that you'll use less of the fuel compared to the equivalent petrol or hybrid.

I got the mokka e I love the car in general but charging it is a nightmare! Think I'm going to swap it to a petrol I've had it 6 weeks and had to call the rac out twice! Amongst other problems with generally such as so many ports being out of service. Free charging takes 2 hours to charge 20% 🤷‍♀️

There’s a noticeable quietness in the video when you’re driving the petrol model. Less tyre noise. Huge improvement on the previous Mokka.

😂 you do know the only sound you hear in an ev is the tyre noise. Of course you’d notice it more because you’ve not got a noisy engine

So we have had a petrol automatic Mokka for 12 months. So the lane control is a pain. Getting in the back is another issue. So kids will be ok but if your an adult you will have issues getting in and out. We have the keyless entry. We have given up on this as it is so temperamental. Then one big issue is when we go to open the car with the key fob. We find the car will not open. The key fob stops working. So we have a trick now to get round this. We have to open and close the boot. Which I am guessing because we have keyless entry it allows us to do this. Then the key fob comes back to life. We can now open the car with the key fob. The car has been back 7 times to the dealer. Still not fixed.

we have had the car for close to a year now, and just clocked in 28k k"m on it. Never experienced the keyless or keyfob issues you mentioned the only thing I can say is, it opens right by the door not even a meter away but I never had to wait for it, once I'm by the door it's open. if I use the key instead it also works without any issues.
regarding the lane control, I'm not sure if you're meaning the "Lane Safety Assist " that makes sure you stay in the lane which I switch off every drive(together with the start-stop) because it's extremely aggressive, or the cruise control self-driving features which I bearly use but when I did it worked just fine, similar to other cars. far from perfect but even a Tesla is

Ev hopeless for me. I have to do 250 plus mile motorway trips quite often. I cruise at 70mph so range sounds like 150 miles on average. Then the faff of finding a fast charger that is available and sitting in a grotty service station for 30 minutes or more. No way.

So should we stop building all ev’s and improving them just because they don’t suit you right at this very minute. I think you’ll find that you are an outlier in your use of your car. The majority of people take small journeys. You may as well say, well I’m never going to go into space so space ships don’t suit me.

The biggest problem is that the infrastructure is not yet in place. This mania for electric vehicles has been rushed out before the problems were thought out and solved. All muddling through like most other things in GB.

Even at a cost saving of e1000 of fuel per 10,000km, it will take a while to claw back the extra cost. And in reality ( fast charge cost at " fuel stations", or not moving to night meter), it will be e1000 saved per 15000km. So really it's 70 thousand km before you see the saving. Tbh for the first owner this is beginning to sound like the same sales pitch they used for diesel cars a few years ago.

    • @timaustin2000

This only applies if you're buying cash. If you're buying on PCP finance or on a lease you're only paying the monthly depreciation NOT the cost of the car.
The depreciation of the EV version will be much less than the petrol one which will reduce the monthly payments to much closer than the full car cost. My Zoe, for example, only costs £30 a month more than an identical Clio. I make more than double that back in fuel savings.
When 90%+ of all car sales are now PCP or lease, people really need to stop talking about the full price of the car. It's useless.

@@timaustin2000 This... i just ordered the MG ZS EV "luxury" (it's the higher spec with sunroof etc) here in Sweden as a private lease and it only cost me 300 euro per month (when exchanging SEK to Euro) and in that cost everything is included such as service, insurance yadda yadda. I took the 24 months deal instead of the 36 months, have i taken the 36 months the monthly cost would have been even lower. The cost for electricity for me will be around 50 euro per month. Now, comparing that to the ICE car i have right now (Skoda Octavia) the EV is a lot cheaper but in monthly cost and "fuel" costs.

I absolutely hate shiny black plastics they always look cheap to me and no matter what over time scratch like hell. and the surround of those 2screens make them look dated its too thick. Vauxhall much like ford stuck with dated old designed interiors way too long that by the time they come up with something new....they still look dated to all other cars
