    Irish man here. Don’t get carried away with media hype and stupid fans, real rugby fans have complete respect and admiration for the ABs. This rivalry, albeit short, is something we could only dream of. Irish rugby has come a long way and can now challenge the best. The Haka will light up the Aviva tonight and we will see two teams of warriors go to battle 🇮🇪 🏉 🇳🇿 Eire Abú

    As an irish fan i remember seeing an interview with steve hansen where he was asked what irish players the ABs would need to be aware of, he only knew two irish players names. I was raging but also embarrassed as it showed how little we mattered to the ABs but now i love the fact we are at the top table with ABs, SA, France and although it doesnt mean we will win we have a chance. Best of luck to both teams and i hope AB fans have a great time in Dublin

    There is no team in the world I am happier watching the abs beat than Ireland, I cannot stand that team or their fans.. until the final whistle and then everything is forgotten, the Irish people are amazing, the sun still rises in the morning and you realize you watch this game in the hope to be inspired more than anything else.
    The Abs hadn’t won a World Cup for the first 24 years of my life and we were usually the number one side so we know the pain you felt last year.. that game was the best game I’ve ever seen.
    Good luck Ireland, no bad blood here, just a mutual respect for a strong rugby nation with a love for the game.

    Put in the O'Mahony sledging on Cane, but left out Ioane sledging on Sexton. Ignored the hatchet job in 2016. Very glossed over piece here. A great rivalry has blossomed, stop looking at it through NZ rose tinted glasses and show it warts and all! True fans on both sides will appreciate both sides have had to go over the line to get an edge, but that's what great sides do to win!

    Irish man living in Aus here,
    So much to say about this video. Firstly great viewing, reliving the WC game knowing the result I still get chills.
    Not sure if countries like SA, France and Ireland have lifted their game to match ABs or maybe the Foster era will want to be forgotten amongst kiwis. (Should have gone for Rennie).
    When ireland won in Dublin after Chicago, that was huge too.
    As for Chicago win there's a great photo of Paul O'Connell and Dougie Howlett celebrating together at FT, pure class.
    That WC was so lob sided though, ABs v Ireland and SA v France should have been the semis.
    Long live this rivalry

    • @Blacktux94
      @Blacktux94 16 дней назад +2

      It's a hard one, whilst the Fozzie era had moments to forget, that quarter final was next level and he was 1 point (and a few poor calls) away from a world cup. I think Ireland has stepped up over the last few years & France has become more consistent, it's just more teams that can challenge us. It's a good thing.

    • @crazyanimal1997

      Not sure if SA has lifted their game to match the ABs? We wouldn't downgrade. We have adapted so much so, that world rugby makes rules to make SA weaker, with no effect. Crying over the bomb squad and things like that. Come on. Anyone else could have done it but they didn't. I'm not sure if countries around the world lifted their game up to the standard that the Boks play, hey. How's that for a correct statement

    • @westsideAUKILANI
      @westsideAUKILANI 16 дней назад +3

      @@crazyanimal1997 there is no rule change to negate the bomb squad tho? Did I miss something? Changing a red card to a 20 min outcome depending on the circumstances doesn't affect South africa, neither does taking the tmo decision making in game. You have basically admitted these things helped you win the last world cup, something the rest of us already knew.

    • @crazyanimal1997

      @@westsideAUKILANI how close was it to the rule being made? All because of a single team. Let's you know how strong that team must be. Pretty glaring how the 2016 Dublin revenge mission is glossed over here. That made the rivalry turn sour for a lot of people and was not a good look for the All Blacks. Beaten fair and square in Chicago, and then resorted to thuggery two weeks later. Should have been about three red cards. It has turned into a great rivalry, but that match shows the ugly side of it.

    The rivalry intensified in the Autumn internationals 2016. Ireland had beaten the ABs for the first time in Chicago and the ABs responded with can only be described as as thuggery in a revenge win in Dublin. SEXTON,Henshaw, CJ Stander were all taken out , Hensgaw with a tackle by Kane that would be a straight red today. I actually believe Irish rugby lost some of their respect to the ABs that day ( if you don’t believe me, read the match report ) as prior to this the ABs were Irelands second favourite team.

      Yes, we've been the team to beat for quite some time (along side the Bokes), but its been a pleasure to watch the ascendency of Irish rugby over the past few years.
      We've lost that "aura" of the unbeatable team, but I like to think of it as the other nations of closing that gap, which is fantastic for RUGBY.

    From my own (Irish) perspective, there wasn’t a rivalry there at all until 2021/2022. There were a few big milestones from an Irish pov, but they didn’t amount to building a rivalry. Sure we won a game in 2016. And then promptly lost the one in Dublin a few weeks later. We won in 2018. And then got stuffed in the 2019 RWC QF. Until 2021/22 we hadn’t put back to back performances/results together. The wind before then amounted to little more than one offs.
    In November 2021, Farrells Ireland announced themselves. And between that game and the series in NZ I think we turned it into a rivalry. NZ winning last year and the spice around that has added to it. But unlike 2019, Ireland didn’t get stuffed. It was a top class game of rugby between 2 class sides that ended in a one score win for NZ.
    It’s a big step up from what I got used to before 2016. Hopefully we can maintain that and continue these rivalries for years to come.

    ABs consistently the greatest rugby team in history, respect for the masters of the game, Ireland will never underestimate these titans of the game. ABs brought the sport to a new heights. Ask any under 10 playing rugby in an Irish school who is the best team in the world and they will answer the ABs, with the dream of one day wearing the green jersey to play the best team in the world, and the belief that with the right system, precision, tactics, and controlled ferocity they can actually be beaten by precise calm skill.

    The growth of Irish Rugby is seismic. I can remember Sexton screaming down at O'Gara (like Ali over Liston) as he only emerged on the scene. It just seems like yesterday. And in that age, I remember Sexton telling a story about Dan Carter. Sexton was obviously a big fan but he remembered some occasion when he was face to face with a player he looked up to so much. He tried to engage Carter in conversation but Carter wasn't interested. This is not to get at Carter, this is to illustrate how Invisible Ireland and Irish players were in the minds of the ABs. Sexton remembered that moment. ABs are still the ABs - still a frighteningly good side. But Ireland are no longer the Invisible team with Invisible players. So it's pride in Irish rugby that it knuckled down and over the last few decades fought its way to the elite level of World Rugby.

    The athleticism, speed and skills of the All blacks is always shocking. Even when we (Ireland) are winning well on the scoreboard I'm just waiting for NZ to click and run in 3 or 4 tries in 20 minutes. It's noticeable how much we rely on Bundee Aki, Lowe and Gibson-Park for those skills and extra power. We just don't produce the athletes that the big sides have. Although in fairness everyone but SA seem to be importing Polynesian players in one way or another.

    My personal opinion is there isn’t a rivalry as much as their is respect for how Ireland are playing these days. Don’t get me wrong Ireland are a great team, and I believe they have the best team in every sense of the word. I feel that that there is rivalry between SA and NZ based on results over decades and also that they have X factor players. I mean at any one time SA have players that would be starters in an AB side. PSDT, Kolbe, Eben and past players in their time like Joost, Schalk etc. I don’t believe there is a single player in Irelands history that would make the ABs starting line up, not even BOD cause we would take Umaga as starter every time. Anyway those are my personal thoughts on rivalry and in no way represent other Kiwi thoughts on the matter.

    That re take in 2013 was the biggest farce ever , I was happy to watch my cousin play in Soldier Field Ultane was unbelievable when he came on , We should have beaten All Blacks more over the last 10 years , We are producing better players now , we have the best Club side in the world, Leinster and the best School boys competition in world rugby, In 12 years from now we should win at least 1 , great chance at 2world cups!!! If Refs could call the offside on the All Blacks just like in Paris , we would win more , Remember The All Blacks get all the calls from Refs , there like Barcelona with Messi Untouchables because there the Global Marketing Face of the Game , they get all the calls , so you have to beat the ref too when playing New Zealand!!!!
