Irish man here. Don’t get carried away with media hype and stupid fans, real rugby fans have complete respect and admiration for the ABs. This rivalry, albeit short, is something we could only dream of. Irish rugby has come a long way and can now challenge the best. The Haka will light up the Aviva tonight and we will see two teams of warriors go to battle 🇮🇪 🏉 🇳🇿 Eire Abú
It's going to be a tough game can't wait bro respect
Nicely said 👍.
Simple way to sum it up is NZ fans shouldn’t think Matt Williams represents popular opinion here 😂
Ireland are massive favourites for this evenings game. The ABs are very much a team in transition
@ Wouldn’t mind us being a bit more of a team in transition tbh 😅
Fair play to sky sports nz for doing a great job of building the game. It’s an autumn test but it’s a better build up than you would see for a RC decider.
As an irish fan i remember seeing an interview with steve hansen where he was asked what irish players the ABs would need to be aware of, he only knew two irish players names. I was raging but also embarrassed as it showed how little we mattered to the ABs but now i love the fact we are at the top table with ABs, SA, France and although it doesnt mean we will win we have a chance. Best of luck to both teams and i hope AB fans have a great time in Dublin
South African here, I'm so excited for tonight! I can't wait. It's going to be epic!
Best of luck to our newest rivals and our oldest foe, The Mighty AB's.
As an Irish fan, the one memory that sticks with me about the 2023 quarter final was Sam Canes face in the tunnel. It was beyond game face. Revenge, retribution, steel, anger.
There is no team in the world I am happier watching the abs beat than Ireland, I cannot stand that team or their fans.. until the final whistle and then everything is forgotten, the Irish people are amazing, the sun still rises in the morning and you realize you watch this game in the hope to be inspired more than anything else.
The Abs hadn’t won a World Cup for the first 24 years of my life and we were usually the number one side so we know the pain you felt last year.. that game was the best game I’ve ever seen.
Good luck Ireland, no bad blood here, just a mutual respect for a strong rugby nation with a love for the game.
well said
Put in the O'Mahony sledging on Cane, but left out Ioane sledging on Sexton. Ignored the hatchet job in 2016. Very glossed over piece here. A great rivalry has blossomed, stop looking at it through NZ rose tinted glasses and show it warts and all! True fans on both sides will appreciate both sides have had to go over the line to get an edge, but that's what great sides do to win!
Yeah it seems it’s ok to call someone a C_ _T….pity.
Irish man living in Aus here,
So much to say about this video. Firstly great viewing, reliving the WC game knowing the result I still get chills.
Not sure if countries like SA, France and Ireland have lifted their game to match ABs or maybe the Foster era will want to be forgotten amongst kiwis. (Should have gone for Rennie).
When ireland won in Dublin after Chicago, that was huge too.
As for Chicago win there's a great photo of Paul O'Connell and Dougie Howlett celebrating together at FT, pure class.
That WC was so lob sided though, ABs v Ireland and SA v France should have been the semis.
Long live this rivalry
It's a hard one, whilst the Fozzie era had moments to forget, that quarter final was next level and he was 1 point (and a few poor calls) away from a world cup. I think Ireland has stepped up over the last few years & France has become more consistent, it's just more teams that can challenge us. It's a good thing.
Not sure if SA has lifted their game to match the ABs? We wouldn't downgrade. We have adapted so much so, that world rugby makes rules to make SA weaker, with no effect. Crying over the bomb squad and things like that. Come on. Anyone else could have done it but they didn't. I'm not sure if countries around the world lifted their game up to the standard that the Boks play, hey. How's that for a correct statement
@@crazyanimal1997 there is no rule change to negate the bomb squad tho? Did I miss something? Changing a red card to a 20 min outcome depending on the circumstances doesn't affect South africa, neither does taking the tmo decision making in game. You have basically admitted these things helped you win the last world cup, something the rest of us already knew.
@@westsideAUKILANI how close was it to the rule being made? All because of a single team. Let's you know how strong that team must be. Honestly we are in the era where we are untouchable and I remember when the ABs were in this phase. I think it was 2010 around there but they haven't been GOOD, like they were, in a very long time.
@@crazyanimal1997 how close? I have no idea? Didnt even make NZ news so must've just been the typical media pundits stirring. Point being your statement that world rugby makes rules to make SA weaker is not accurate.
How did you skip irelands 2 home wins against new zealand? The atmosphere in those games was incredible, nothing like anything ive seen before
Pointing out that it's 5-5 in the last 10 games would have shown how close it's been over the last 10 years.
That 2013 game was sickening. Was in the stadium & it felt like a death afterwards. And a guy with an Irish surname scoring that final try...
Good luck New Zealand 🇳🇿 and welcome to Ireland 🇮🇪
Cmonnnnnn Ireland
Pretty glaring how the 2016 Dublin revenge mission is glossed over here. That made the rivalry turn sour for a lot of people and was not a good look for the All Blacks. Beaten fair and square in Chicago, and then resorted to thuggery two weeks later. Should have been about three red cards. It has turned into a great rivalry, but that match shows the ugly side of it.
The Sam cane game
Definitely should have shown that match, that’s the one I use to go back and watch the most because it was the abs with the gloves off. Ruthless
It ain't tiddlywinks pal
As an Irish fan, no game hurt more than that final moment in 2013, that was the point of change from Ireland.
I broke my toe after kicking a column in the pub in frustration after that last try...
A great rivalry has built up! 🏉
jeez, what a build up. Makes you realise how important this game is to both fans and players. Experienced all those highs and lows all over again. Love the AB's! All the best tonight boys!! UP THE MIGHTY ALL BLACKS!!!!!!
Chur chur good stuff team. Awesome to see these clips and sit along side you guys. Goodluck to the Irish in Dublin. UP THE ALL BLACKS!!
For me it started in Christchurch 2012. yes were upset ability o’Driscoll thing but we got over. The Christchurch game where the penalty went the wrong way and we got close made us realise that we could do it. it’s still very weird for me is an Irish fun seeing New Zealanders give us praise because when I was growing up I used to watch players like Joe Rokocoko and sivivatu. And wish we had players who could play like that.
I have alot of respect for the Irish team and fans it's awesome to see our country's on the pitch should be a great game
Irish man. Love everything about NZ. Bring it on next time! Respect 👅
It wasn't long ago when we couldn't dream of beating France, England, AB's. When I was in school we would get thrashed by these teams. now we're competing against them.
Gosh I can’t wait to see these two very very good teams continue their work
Ireland have come so far and they will only get better
Are the AB’S I don’t have the ability as a wallabies fan to say how much we have always known their manna. Love em
Best game this weekend
Good luck to all
Cheers gentlemen
Get stuck in
i cant see Ireland getting better but NZ will click eventually.
tough game for 2 heavyweight teams...good luck to both
The rivalry intensified in the Autumn internationals 2016. Ireland had beaten the ABs for the first time in Chicago and the ABs responded with can only be described as as thuggery in a revenge win in Dublin. SEXTON,Henshaw, CJ Stander were all taken out , Hensgaw with a tackle by Kane that would be a straight red today. I actually believe Irish rugby lost some of their respect to the ABs that day ( if you don’t believe me, read the match report ) as prior to this the ABs were Irelands second favourite team.
What are you on about? People act like they did it intentionally…
@@tahuwhatuira3207 OK, be honest, was the spear tackle on O'Driscoll deliberate? Was it even pre-meditated?
@@RossoVerdeNero hmmmm I don’t think they intentionally tried to injury him, but I do believe it was stupid and reckless. Same with the test in Dublin, seemed more like uncontrolled and reckless aggression. I don’t believe the abs would go out to purposefully injury opponents.
I lost all respect for the ABs after that game in Dublin. Couldn’t care less about them now or beating them.
we dont care whether you respect us or not 😂.
Sky sport and All Blacks social media delivering the 🔥🔥🔥 content
Awesome video lads. Loved it! ❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽
24:35 every single new all black should be made to sit down and watch this game, written off, resilience when the odds are against you, tenacity when the pressure is on, what a character building experience for an entire nation.
Doing a good job Sky Sport NZ, finally some good Rugby promos
Says something that the ABs celebrated like they won the WC when they beat Ireland last year. Massive respect to the Abs, from Ireland.
not all of them most didnt in fact you would think they lost when you saw Whitelock the reserves seemed to celebrate more
as a kiwi that was our final anything past that was just a bonus
Great vid, really whets the appetite for the upcoming game in Dublin, COYBIG!!!
Missed a couple of the big games in Ireland imo, 2016, '18, '21.
Feels a shame not to mention the 2016 comeback game in Dublin tho, AB's really laid down a marker in that one, reminded everyone why they were undisputed best in the world at that point, that was such a hard hitting encounter.
"As disrespectful as you can get" - Up until the WC QF
I absolutely adore the rivalry thats blossoming between ourselves and the ABs and Boks. Its an honour to be in the same league as you guys.
(Go Ireland)
Not to sound condescending.. but it's also been an honour to be playing against the best in world rugby.
Yes, we've been the team to beat for quite some time (along side the Bokes), but its been a pleasure to watch the ascendency of Irish rugby over the past few years.
We've lost that "aura" of the unbeatable team, but I like to think of it as the other nations of closing that gap, which is fantastic for RUGBY.
I'm waiting in great anticipation for this game in just a few hours now. Should be a ripper! may the best team win! respect to Ireland, best of luck & may the AB's win!! CHUR!
From my own (Irish) perspective, there wasn’t a rivalry there at all until 2021/2022. There were a few big milestones from an Irish pov, but they didn’t amount to building a rivalry. Sure we won a game in 2016. And then promptly lost the one in Dublin a few weeks later. We won in 2018. And then got stuffed in the 2019 RWC QF. Until 2021/22 we hadn’t put back to back performances/results together. The wind before then amounted to little more than one offs.
In November 2021, Farrells Ireland announced themselves. And between that game and the series in NZ I think we turned it into a rivalry. NZ winning last year and the spice around that has added to it. But unlike 2019, Ireland didn’t get stuffed. It was a top class game of rugby between 2 class sides that ended in a one score win for NZ.
It’s a big step up from what I got used to before 2016. Hopefully we can maintain that and continue these rivalries for years to come.
buzzing for the game tonight, what a rivalry it has become.
ABs consistently the greatest rugby team in history, respect for the masters of the game, Ireland will never underestimate these titans of the game. ABs brought the sport to a new heights. Ask any under 10 playing rugby in an Irish school who is the best team in the world and they will answer the ABs, with the dream of one day wearing the green jersey to play the best team in the world, and the belief that with the right system, precision, tactics, and controlled ferocity they can actually be beaten by precise calm skill.
You bought tears to my eyes 🖤
Absolutely loved this. Talk about a wave of emotions for both nations. Media are really building this game up, fair play. I'll always respect every team but I'll always be Irish, no matter what the result
Canes face at the start vs Sextons, and I said "We've got this."
I feel like this was made just to infuriate BOK fans 😂
@colingibson5966 Why do you think Bok fans are infuriated. NZ needs a new rivalry as the Boks keeps on beating you guys.
It worked
Irish here. What a game, still get goosebumps and pumped up over that WC match even though iv seen the result/highlights so many times.
Well done New Zealand, dug incredibly deep for that and well deserved. I never felt like Ireland were on top, even with a man extra.
See ya's tonight
The 2023 NZ v Ire semi was the best match we'd seen since the Lions tour to NZ in 2005, all until the next day when South Africa played France which was probably the best match I've seen in my life.
I still get a tear thinking about that 2013 match. I framed a photo of the 80 minute score.
Brilliant documentary
Ignoring the All Blacks savagery in that first game after losing in Chicago is a cheeky lil move there lads - POM didnt forget it.
Man I love this ! More content like this please! Rugby best game in the world
This is awesome. All Blacks forever!
This 'rivalry' is beyond our wildest dream here in Ireland, for perspective, its like NZ soccer team having a rivalry with Brazil, at the WC QF's NZ played a flawless game, but Ireland were not game ready after SA and Scotland in games 3 and 4, many injuries after Scotland wheras AB's had a warm up run through the pools and massivly motivated. I think tonights game is everyones game of the autumn series, Ireland by one score.
I know people overseas can’t stand Jeff Wilson as a pundit. But he’s an All Blacks legend first and a pundit second. He struggles to switch off. You can tell when he’s watching highlights of games he knows the results of 😂
Him, Andrew Mehertens and Cullen were my favourite players growing up
And a NZ Cricketer too (JW)
Rugby is a minority sport in Ireland, its amazing they ever win really considering the small numbers playing compared to new zealand, it would be hard to take if new zealand beat Ireland in hurling, in 2000 years of playing hurling new zealand have never beaten Ireland
Jesus Christ on every single comments some Irish lad has to tell everyone ‘Rugby is our 992763th sport’. Yeah. It’s not. It’s by far one of the most popular - GAA is a past time. Kids play it. Rugby is the biggest professional support. It’s by far the most watched. You need to stop with this stupid load of minority bs.
I always say this as well.. NZ and SA have never beaten us in Gaelic football, Hurling or Soccer.. We're still unbeaten in our top 3 sports.. about 6,000 years of dominance
@@giddygiddy85no one cares about that stupid game thats why 😂.
Ireland think theyre great because its their 3,4 sport but theyve never won a world cup so havent really achieved anything NZ did something far bigger the other day beating India 3-0 at cricket in India the first time any country has ever done it and theyve won world cups and world titles in cricket which is the second biggest sport in the world yet would be lucky to make NZs top 5 sports and you think you have achieved something in rugby? 😂 what Ireland have done in rugby NZ do often in other sports 😂.
@Trajan2401 Nobody cares about soccer???
The growth of Irish Rugby is seismic. I can remember Sexton screaming down at O'Gara (like Ali over Liston) as he only emerged on the scene. It just seems like yesterday. And in that age, I remember Sexton telling a story about Dan Carter. Sexton was obviously a big fan but he remembered some occasion when he was face to face with a player he looked up to so much. He tried to engage Carter in conversation but Carter wasn't interested. This is not to get at Carter, this is to illustrate how Invisible Ireland and Irish players were in the minds of the ABs. Sexton remembered that moment. ABs are still the ABs - still a frighteningly good side. But Ireland are no longer the Invisible team with Invisible players. So it's pride in Irish rugby that it knuckled down and over the last few decades fought its way to the elite level of World Rugby.
Never gets old ABs forever
I like all these new rivalries that are forming, NZ and Ire, SA and Ire clubs in the URC. There's a bit of a rivalry between Ire and the Boks as well, but at the moment it's one sided (SA has a terrible recent record against Ire).
Still have nightmares about Jordie holding up Kelleher 😖 All is forgiven when he helps Leinster get that 5th ⭐️🤣
Nah still won't be forgiven. And unless he improves his form he'll be sitting on the bench at Leinster.
It was a long time before I watched another rugby game after that 2019 WC Qtr final defeat. We were a disgrace. Humiliated. Andy Farrell has worked wonders since.
Great show but convenient to leave out. Nice pat on your own back
"Don't miss your flight home tomorrow. Enjoy your retirement, you (expletive)!"
Why is wayne barnes always involved in historic losses tried so hard in 23 world cup
Umaga is still banned from pubs in Dublin. Long may it last
Going to be an intersting game! The Irish got pinged in almost every scrum in the WC against the ABs. The scrums will be interesting, as the Irish are coming up against the 2nd best scrum in the world, it's going to be tough!
Where was the match back in Dublin two weeks after Chicago? How ironic there was no mention about or reference to it…..
I always have huge respect for New Zealand and for the All Blacks will be a tough game regradless who wins it the Rivalry between Ireland and New Zealand will be a healthy and competitive one I'm Irish
As an Irishman it's only respect for the All Blacks, love the haka, love the culture, love everything about the Kiwis. Absolutely humbling to have a rivalry with them!
AB the best forever! Smashed England and Ireland in their home ground. Luv it!
I'm Irish and I have to say, it's a bigger deal for us playing NZ than what it is for NZ from what I've seen. We were always the underdogs so we loved the challenge but now that things are more level, it's just always a great game. Not a rivalry though. Our rivals are (or at least should be) England and your rivals are (or at least should be) Australia.
Our rival is SA.
Well yeah, the head to head is like 31-5 so a long way to go be considered against Aus, SA
It's South Arica v Ireland now. Forget about NZ . Saffas beat them like it's just another day
@@Paul-v2e2oI was of the impression that your greatest rival was Ireland versus sobriety!?. 😶🖕

Barnes won the game for NZ in the quarter final
I'd forgotten that we'd knocked them out of the 2019 RWC in the Quarter Final....2023 was the second time in succession! Can't wait for tonight's battle! Ireland will be super tough for this NZ side, especially at home.
@@fidget2020 In fairness we were waiting to be knocked out in 2019. We had lost convincingly to Japan in the group stages and it was obvious that the wheels had come off for Joe Schmidt.

Why? Its great.
Why skip all of the Dublin games?
Because we made it 🖤

How many times has Barnes done us
Seems like we have a habit in creating sagas with countries that fly a Union Jack.
The athleticism, speed and skills of the All blacks is always shocking. Even when we (Ireland) are winning well on the scoreboard I'm just waiting for NZ to click and run in 3 or 4 tries in 20 minutes. It's noticeable how much we rely on Bundee Aki, Lowe and Gibson-Park for those skills and extra power. We just don't produce the athletes that the big sides have. Although in fairness everyone but SA seem to be importing Polynesian players in one way or another.
Great Video. But yeah don't think there is still nothing but respect from Irish fans towards the all blacks! I grew up watching the AB's spank our bottoms, still hard to believe we are consistently competitive now!
The 2016 game in Dublin was the pivotal game for the rivalry. Where the ABs sought to beat up Ireland not just win. Fekitoa should have been sent off for cloth-lining Zebo. Sam Cane hit Henshaw high in the head and he was concussed for weeks. That is where a lot of the spikyness comes from
What rivalry bro ..u have won 5 games out of 38 ..really 😂😂..our rivalry will always be the springboks..Aussies..poms ..u won't be around long so enjoy it while it's there bro
New Zealand have always been a great to play against. Usually the best in the world. But England will always be the biggest game.
But I watching the breakdown sky sports NZ on RUclips this week just to see the new Zealand players as you won't see them in Ireland unless you have satellite TV.
The breakdown program put up a map saying Ireland is in the UK. Basic respect works both ways.
They left out Ireland beating the all blacks in 2018 in Dublin, where Stockdale had a chip in behind and scored
We didn’t have Brodie Retallick or Sam Whitelock that day and so we didn’t get enough ball at the line outs. I think that’s a good excuse I’ve put forward haha
The penultimate pass in 2013 was forward …
All the Barretts in the world come from Mayo Ireland, you're welcome new zealand
A good Belmullet name ;)
I see the subtle insult you applied to my country in your sentence grammar by deploying upper case lettering to Mayo, Ireland and Lower case lettering to new zealand to subliminally infer superiority. It's such small minded and recessive thinking though you must be very proud of being the family, village and county disappointment.
They missed the 3 close games in the Aviva before 2023
Yeah bro ..they also missed the 29 games before that
the needle started over the AB loosing the series at home, they didnt like that
This is not a "rivalry". Sensationalism reporting at best.
Where two competitors are capable of beating each other it’s called a rivalry. Where two competitors bring out the best in each other that’s called a rivalry.
Exactly. South Africa v Ireland is a rivalry
Irish fans know that NZ consider SA as their biggest rivals. But there's room for more than one.
NZ fans know that Ireland is South Africa's biggest rival 😉
Good man POM
If the refs stay out of this game. It will be an epic clash. I dont want to wake up at 4am here in perth to watch a ref think hes the star of the show. Let them play!!

No mention of the " rejected" all black prospects. Who went to Ireland to make a living. Now who have the opportunity to stick back to those who rejected them. Like a jilted ex.
To the 4 x All Blacks in the studio - *NEVER* disrespect your opposition!!!
If you do, it will have dire consequences for you and your team!
As a Saffa I would rather have Ireland win tomorrow - even if it means the gap inceases between Ireland and Springboks!
Sad day when kiwis start listening to a saffa bro ..by the way we won 😆
for this to be a rivalry that is any where near what the Boks and the All Blacks have then the Irish need a few more years to stay at this level and then we can revisit the question of rivalry between these two teams
About 100 years mate
@michaelrooks4030 pretty much....since 1920
I can't believe that there was a complaint about the red card in Game2 of the tour in NZ. It's as legit under the rules as it can be
You didnt show the pivotal moment in the series, when brodies face was broken and it got a yelloe. It cost us the game and the series

My personal opinion is there isn’t a rivalry as much as their is respect for how Ireland are playing these days. Don’t get me wrong Ireland are a great team, and I believe they have the best team in every sense of the word. I feel that that there is rivalry between SA and NZ based on results over decades and also that they have X factor players. I mean at any one time SA have players that would be starters in an AB side. PSDT, Kolbe, Eben and past players in their time like Joost, Schalk etc. I don’t believe there is a single player in Irelands history that would make the ABs starting line up, not even BOD cause we would take Umaga as starter every time. Anyway those are my personal thoughts on rivalry and in no way represent other Kiwi thoughts on the matter.
Totally agree bro
That re take in 2013 was the biggest farce ever , I was happy to watch my cousin play in Soldier Field Ultane was unbelievable when he came on , We should have beaten All Blacks more over the last 10 years , We are producing better players now , we have the best Club side in the world, Leinster and the best School boys competition in world rugby, In 12 years from now we should win at least 1 , great chance at 2world cups!!! If Refs could call the offside on the All Blacks just like in Paris , we would win more , Remember The All Blacks get all the calls from Refs , there like Barcelona with Messi Untouchables because there the Global Marketing Face of the Game , they get all the calls , so you have to beat the ref too when playing New Zealand!!!!
Let’s just work on those quarter finals lad lol
Irish players constantly cry to the ref, Irish fans constantly cry to their mums
Hahaha, but it's Wayne Barnes fault , it's Foster's fault. Still crying to this day about it. The savour Razor is next on the block .
Listen All the Prods are complaining from down Under , No surprise there Mates , Listen yee be Foookin a Volleyball Team over the Ages if yee didn’t have The Islanders , Talk about Buying Trophies, Yee are worse than The Brits robbing Irish players in Cricket, Football , over the year , All Blacks have featured 83 players born in foreign lands , That’s like Chelsea Under Mourinho hahagahahaha Gowan The Irish Catholics all the Ira Farmers down south keeping the game alive from The British Colonists , remember the Catholics were banned from playing it , and now we are the Best in The World!!!!
They're not our rivals. It'll always be the Wallabies & Springboks.
People calling this rivalry bigger than the Springboks 😅
2016 Dublin game gave birth to this rivalry.. the cheap shots. Why leave it out hmmmmm
Crotty looks like he has a few screws loose
The rivalry only came about because kiwis made Ireland good with their players and coaches. Your country should be thanking kiwis thar you are as good as you are.
Irish fan here, thanks. It's 'that' by the way, not 'thar'. You're welcome!
Why would they be looking for any excuse to not award the try??? are you suggesting the ref was in the Irish pocket?? explain the thinking please?

To this day one of my favourite things in world rugby is whenever a team beats the abs they will celebrate like they won the World Cup 😂😂
I don't find it funny bro 😂😂..it hurts but it happens
'Bitter' rivalry? It's no surprise I get. But portions of the media's desire to turn this into exactly that is obvious and painful. It's a blood good rivalry, it's a respectful rivalry, but it's not, on Irish fans part at least 'bitter' in the slightest. And does Jeff Wilson honestly think sledging someone by comparing (poorly) one All Black with an all time All Black great, is the most 'disrespectful' you can be to another player?! Seriously?! There's worse stuff happens in the amateur game every week
Jeff Wilson is the most biased pundit out there and can make it hard to watch the Breakdown, I doubt many Kiwis like him either.
