Excellent work and video! I am currently building my Stew Mac Dreadnought and I fell into the same stress inducing quandary when I was about to rout the binding channels. In the end, I did end up going to eBay and purchasing an affordable alternative to the Stew Mac binding jig (nearly half the cost). But it was definitely worth it and took a lot of stress off my mind and worked perfectly!
Nice work especially on the binding. I built my first StewMac Dreadnought in 2002 and the binding was the hardest part. The best thing about the build is when you add strings for the first time and hear the great tone. It actually sounds better with age. Good luck with the rest of the build.
Thanks William! I’m going slowly and methodically but I think it’s going to be amazing when it’s done! Thinking of doing a Uke next. I teach it in school so it would be cool to have one I made myself. My students love when I bring in guitars.
I really appreciate your guitar restoring/building videos! I have a dream of building my own someday but so far I've postponed it because I thought it was way out of my league. I don't anymore, and thank you for that! There's many luthiers on youtube but very few with moderate experience sharing their do's and don'ts along the way. Please keep this kind of content coming!! Looking forward to part 3. :-)
What you said about the back and sides and the replacement being replaced as far back as 2005 . Stewmac did the SAME for me. That's good service. Terry from Australia.
That’s great to hear! I feel like I praise them maybe a little too much in my videos but I only try to say what I think is true and they’ve been good to me.
Pardon the poor English. This year I bought a stewmac Les Paul Jr. and found that the capacitor was the wrong value. More importantly the "legs " didn't meet the distance between the pots. Stew mac responded by sending me a 0-047 uF an a 0.022 uF caps. They had a problem . i simply pointed it out to them and could they help. They checked and I was right. Sadly, that model was deleted from their line but in future I'm sure their engineers will be aware of the parts in kits that manufacturers want them to sell. I simply observed the error but they responded as well as in 2005. They sent me the two Orange long leg caps, both values , post free immediately. I have no commercial affiliation with them, but their service, over the years, has been fantastic.
In this kit, you have sand the top before gluing bracing? I have OM kit from stewmac, but It's top seems very ruff, so should I sand this before bracing?
If you feel it should be sanded I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to hit it with some 240 grit. Just don’t take off too much material. You want to keep it good and flat.

I agree Stewmac were excellent in replacing woods and end blocks. They are why are will build from them again.

Beautiful wood grain! And the binding looks great.
Can’t wait for part 3!
It’s up!
Brian Gossard great job! And great song! I’ll be referencing these videos when I build a kit soon.
Congrats! Closing the box was the most rewarding part of the build.
Brilliant job , very informative and great presentation. Thank you
Thanks!
Hope we get to hear it with a good mic when it's done! Good luck, have fun!
Good Mic... Check
Good guitar player... (leaves to search for one)

Very well done video. I’m thinking of building guitar and this is helpful.
Where is part 3? Thanks
you should create a playlist for this subject

Is this very hard to do if you don't have a router or want to buy one? Just curious!
Subscribed! Nice work.
Ok I give up, where is part 3?
is this finished or did you give up ?
None of my acoustic guitars have those strutts around the outside
can i have the guitar pattern boss
It’s from StewMac.
Muito bom Brian
😊💪😏
You clearly never used a chisel before!
I have a RUclips channel too
voice in the music is very distracting
You'll buy an expensive routing jig, but make your own chisel, that's some backwards thinking, lol
