    Abassids were also Sunni and Iran was predominantly Sunni back than Iran became shia through the Safavid empire in 1530

    6:00 Qur’an wasn’t written by Muhammad as he wasn’t literate, it was dicateted by him and written down by the scribes on different parchments and stuff like that. After Muhammad’s death, During the time of Caliph Othman (who also lived during Muhammad’s life so he was his contemporary), those many parchments on which Qur’an was written were collected into a single book.

    After the roman collapse, in Iberia there were also wars between Visigothic kingdoms. The instability made it easy for the umayyads to conquer almost all iberia.

    At 12:50 you wonder why they were so swift in their conquest. The easiest answer is to compare them to the later mongol invasions. There are tons of similitudes.

    Regarding the rapid conquest of the Middle East, some of it is because the Christians there were mostly Monophysites or Miaphysites, and the state Church of the Byzantine Empire viewed the Monophysites as heretics, as they also did for the Nestorian Christians in Iraq. There may still have been some Donatist Christians (also seen as heretics by the Byzantines) in North Africa too. The Muslims offered them tolerance if they paid the Jizya tax. When the Umayyads collapsed, the Abbasids greater inclusiveness of the converts to Islam from outside the Arab world probably helped them gain support there.

    Umayyads were based in Damascus Syria. By 695 CE, that Caliphate had broken a temporary peace with Byzantium and clearly separated Islam from Christianity. The Zoroastrians in Persia were never tolerated.

    The mountains (Hindu Kush) that come down from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean are very rugged, the Khyber Pass being the primary road thru it.

    800 the world population was about 200 million so his numbers are a bit off. but i mean even 1800 we just hit 1 billion ...
    fun fact: 900.000 years ago humans fell down to only 1280 people, and that did not change for over 117.000 years xD
    imagine for over 100.000 years there was only around 1000 humans on earth
    before that we were much more but 98.7% of all humans died, so we were sooo close to extinction we would be on every red list as "highly endangered" xD

    A lot depends on who you believe: devout Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the word of Allah revealed to his prophet Muhammad from 610 CE onwards, with the migration from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE marking the start of the Islamic calendar. However, inconvenient things like archaeology (and other scientific-based disciplines) cast a lot of doubts on the whole story...
    I don't think the period covered had much to do with the Sunni/Shia split, that got a lot more serious 150-200 years later.

    • @intello8953
      @intello8953 5 месяцев назад

      Doubt on what? Well the easiest one is obviously if you don’t believe that Muhammad is a Prophet of God and the Quran is literally revelation from God then *again* obviously you would think this whole Prophet and God thing doesn’t exist 😂. So I’m confused what are you talking about when it comes to doubt?

    • @andrewbutler7681
      @andrewbutler7681 5 месяцев назад

      @@intello8953 The doubt comes in because of the gap between belief and evidence: believers quote very specific places and dates, which science tends to disprove. However, one thing that is very clear is that believers cannot be convinced to change their minds no matter how much evidence they face, so arguing doesn't work for either side... And some people are just trolls!

    • @intello8953
      @intello8953 5 месяцев назад

      @@andrewbutler7681 what dates though? Because remember the Arabs pre Caliph Umar didn’t have a literal calendar so obviously certain will not be 100% right? Also even Islamic scholars in history from their sources which most people and even many “Islamic” western scholars unfortunately can’t access *because they have such a weak grasp of basic Arabic let alone being proficient or fluent in it* NEVER said *this is the exact date of this and that* because how could they know. So when you say archeology please be more specific because then I can do some research on my own

    Individual ayahs (verses) were recorded by followers of Muhammad's oracular pronouncements. These were gathered and edited together by the Rashidun (particularly Uthman) and called the Recitation (Quran). The Hadith are sayings of Muhammad not in the Quran. These were gathered by the Abbasid Caliphate and a biography for Muhammad was produced then also. Islam in a recognized form, based in the new city, Baghdad, existed by 850 CE.

    The first caliphate attacked Rome and Persia exactly after they just fought a devastating 30 years war and combined with the plague the Romans and Persians were on their knees. Once the arabs defeated the few troops left in these 2 empires they swept through North Africa and Central Asia facing little to no resistance
