    5:22 As an argentinean this was a big issue for me. It was clearly evident by the lack of singing, drums and trumpets that most people with an argentinean tshirt were in fact, not argentinean at all, and just USA tourists.
    I mean, I don't have absolutely anything against people just wanting to see an elite player before he retires even though they're not big fans of the team, I would've done the same If I had a chance to see Michael Jordan play live, even though I haven't watched a single bulls game in my life.
    But, when the audience it's mostly "tourists", it kind of ruins the atmosphere of a true football game, which is counter productive also, because those tourists will have less interest in the sport as a whole, since they don't have "the energy" of a true match.

      It was more about the defensive style of Canada, when Álvarez was playing they were sitting behind in a low block not pressing until Argentina reached half court. When Lautaro entered the game Canada was pressing high on the pitch, and of course Argentina really got the best out of them once they sorted out the pressing and scored the second goal.

  • @pablodebella7695
    @pablodebella7695 13 дней назад +7

    Canda´s tactic with the high pressure was a good one, but they didnt execute it well, at times Argentina struggled to come out playing from their field but then Argentina could have scored at least 4 goals from long passes behind Canada´s defense. This could have easily ended 6-0 or if Im being generous 6-2, the 2-0 makes it look closer than it really is, and this is exactly what happened in the World Cup, watch those Argentina games again where they won 2-0, 2-1 and in reality those were games that could have easily ended with 3 or 4 more goals in favor of Argentina, they create a LOT of chances but also they miss a lot of those chances incredibly in situations where its normally a goal.

    Personally that kick to Alvarez early in the game to his hand and wrist. I think affected his play. Ya it’s a part you don’t use for football but if you’re in pain and you need to try and focus. It gets difficult to play aggressive at times. I saw that. Alvarez is great. I like him. But hopefully he gets some more starts and grow into the game more. Happy that he scored. Good confidence booster.

    The "controversy" of this game wasn't the playing surface, which was the same for both teams, it was Argentina taking 5--7 minutes to come out late to start the 2nd half so that they could spend more time analyzing the video to work out a plan to how to counteract what Canada was doing against them, which even Messi admitted wasn't what they were used to or expecting. And Argentina still needed some further help from the Refs for not calling blatant fouls committed by their players on the edge of their own box. Please do better next time ESPN

    What? every Argentina was happy, beautiful football plays, those guy didnt watch the match!!!! Argentina controlled the game. Canada had a few good moments and played with courage, but Argentina dominated, successful one-touch passes, transitions. Canada in the second half played to press and thought that Argentina would be passive, to Canada surprise Argentina pressed also well and way effective. Argentina only had 10 minutes in the entire game where Canada attacked from Acuña side that complicated Argentina's creation just for 10 minutes, but Argentina were a bulldozer. amazing, everybody so connected. Btw Even Canada complained, the ball so difficult to bounce.

Might be something to do with the celebrity culture in North America too...people tend to get on bandwagons more...rather than sticking with their team through thick and thin. I'm from Canada and we're the same...as we would always cheer for other countries in the World Cup (usually a distant ancestor's...) because Canada never used to make it. Argentina weren’t at their brilliant best against Canada yesterday as they could’ve been better particularly in front of goal where they created so many chances, at the end of the day, they just get the job done and that’s what matters. They got the 3 points and they can move on from the next game. They didn’t need to be at their best, there was some passages of play where they moved the ball very well and were on the front foot the entire game and looked threatening to score every time they were in attack and thankfully they managed to do so and on any given day, they could be on the pitch for 2 hours straight and would be missing chances for fun.
    If they played against better teams like Brazil Uruguay and Colombia and they were wasteful in front of goal, other teams are capable of punishing them, they’re happy that they’re a much better team than Canada who had decent opportunities themselves and made sure that they didn’t concede. It’s the start of a new tournament meaning that what happened in the past has to be left behind, given the fact that they’ve been the most successful team in international football in the last 4 years and they’ve shown no signs of slowing down since winning the World Cup and are managing to still win games even without always playing well, Argentina are unanimous favorites to win the Copa America and while I won’t rule out other teams in this competition, they’re a level above everyone else in South America right now and they can start tournaments off slow and manage to pick it up later on.

Look at basketball. Argentina would beat us easily 15 years ago. Now we beat Argentina easily without our best NBA talent. Let's see how this develops, we simply have bigger, better athletes in general. If we can fine tune skills,tactics. Could be different in another 5 years or so.

      @Gfresh844 12 дней назад

      Doesn't do anything, apart from the fact he creates, opens up teams with his dribbling and still has the ability to score goals regularly... To say he does nothing is utterly ridiculous. As for off the ball, that's literally a tactic that goes back to the Guardiola era at Barca. Messi isn't expected to press or defend much when his team don't have possession, in order for him to be able to operate in short bursts and be a constant outlet in attack.
