Not only he sounds like i imagine chopin did, but he also kinda looks what i imagine a young chopin did, long smooth hairs and a large nose in an elegant suit.
If I were none the wiser I'd think that's the ghost of Frederick Chopin as a youth playing his own composition! Such delicacy and respect towards the instrument, selflessness, and a kindred feeling towards his own incredible technique. Magnifique!
Krystian Zimerman winner of the Chopin competition in 1975! What a gem!
One hell of a genius is my friend Zimerman.

J don't agree it's a true valse 100-100 here except intermezzo ; j have akways thougth Zimmerman didn't what he was playing , here is this fact 100-100 ! Notoriety is not always great talent , sorry for the youtubers

Oddly disappointing performance. I'd have to listen a couple more times to figure out why the pauses he inserts and the odd syncopations for the runs. This is supposed to be a waltz at some level....
Way too much rubato, which affects the overall waltz tempo of the piece. You can never accuse Zimmerman of "rushing" anything musical!
Yes, there's that. Is there such a thing as "mannered rubato"... My problem is I have Dinu Lipati's recording and feel I ought to be tolerant of pianists who can't reach that level of perfection.
So this is a very young Zimerman; I would love to listen to his interpretation of this piece now, as an older musician. I remember what he said in an interview: the piece grows with you, it matures as you enter adulthood, maturity and even old age.
He has recorded it more recently, it's at ruclips.net/video/3-6mG9AX5D0/видео.html
