    BMW has proved from 2005 that the 3series is one of the safest cars on earth. But i like the Mazda's and Suzuki's way to bounce around and reduce the impact forces. The Audi is unacceptable

    We had a BMW 325is in the mid 1990's. Traded it in on a brand new Buick Regal in '96. Both were really well constructed cars. All watching these hundreds of Crash Tests show is that you don't want to get in a bad crash in ANY Car, whether rated "safe" or not. My daughter crashed a brand new KIA in 2002 and it remained intact and the restraints and Airbag worked flawlessly. People don't think of the little KIA Spectra or Sephia as particularly safe but hers was. She is now a 34 year old school teacher with 3 kids and not a sad memory. Thanks to the Safety Engineers at KIA!

      I'm going to agree the Kizashi and the BMW are the best here. The worst had to be the Malibu as the dummy completely by-passed the air bags and came into contact with the door.

    BMW Rules! All the cars during impact compressed up to the middle of the doors unlike BMW's only up to the end of the bonnet line. Secondly all CTDummies did not hit the center of the steering wheel airbag except the BMW spot on target which adds more to safety! I'm so glad and blessed to drive a BMW (E60 540i V8 Beast)!

    • @serranoalb
      @serranoalb 11 лет назад

      See how performs the Volvo (all models). It dodges the pole. Thus the impact is much lesser, it didn't stop at all. The Volvo people have a lot of advantage over the rest of the brands.

    • @lom2112thatchem
      @lom2112thatchem 10 лет назад

      If you look again, the occupant head slid off the airbag, and into the side of the IP and door, even before the airbag had fully inflated in that area. BMW sucked, as did they all. They all had driver/passenger doors opening, or even flying off. How these cars can be 5* NCAP rated is beyond me. Ford Fiesta and the such like perform better. Poor Show BM and Audi... very poor show.

    • @lom2112thatchem
      @lom2112thatchem 10 лет назад

      MikeSunisa Lomax And that slide was before the curtain airbag deploded fully to its intended area... even worse

    • @bens6120
      @bens6120 10 лет назад +1

      It is a bit more complicated. The important fact is the absorption of energy on impact through the deformation of the car around the cockpit. The dummies have not been so stirred in the BMW or Suzuki. We can note, that the absorption of BMW occurs more frontally, where Suzuki deflects an amount of energy. A full frontal impact is more tolerable for human well seated.
      Cars of this test are still amazing compared to those aged fifteen years.

      Settore Nord The Audi didn't do bad. The only thing that I saw wrong was the head go in-between the two air-bags. What set it apart was that the head didn't have a counter and whip back towards the head rest. The four ringed owner would live on.

    Ratings 2012 Audi A4 shows good protection on chest head and neck and lower leg foot and shows poor protection safety cage thigh and the restraints kinematics that applies to 2009-16 models the footwell was pushed 28 cm and the panel went 25-28 and the steering wheel pushed 13 cm to the driver and overall rating is poor The performance of the BMW F30 2012-2016 the footrest was pushed in toward the driver 40 cm, while the instrument panel intruded as much as 16 cm. The dummy’s head loaded the frontal airbag which stayed in front of the dummy until rebound. However, the steering column moved upward 16 cm, resulting in little airbag cushioning for the chest. Additionally, the seat belt allowed excessive forward excursion of the dummy’s head and torso. The side curtain airbag deployed but does not have sufficient forward coverage to protect the head from contact with side structure and outside objects.
    The restraints and the dummy kinematics were low which is acceptable protection. The lower leg foot was poor. The chest, hip, head and neck are good but its rating is marginal. The Suzuki shows Good ratings all body parts were all good. The driver space was maintained well, with maximum intrusion of the lower interior below 15 cm and maximum intrusion of the upper interior of 6 cm. Plus The dummy’s head barely contacted the frontal airbag before sliding off the left side and leaving the head vulnerable to contact with forward side structure. The side curtain airbag deployed but does not have sufficient forward coverage to protect the head from contact with forward side structure and outside objects. The side torso airbag also deployed. The Malibu for 2012-2013 showed marginal

    I was in an accident with a 2013 Mazda 6, 9 days after I bought it. $10,300 damage, airbags didn't deploy. I still don't think it's right to this day. I hit a car that turned left in front of me in an intersection. I was doing about 60-65 km/h. All the impact was on the right front. Completely totaled the right front, but again, the airbags didn't go off. After the initial impact, I had no steering and hit head on with another car in the other lane. all of you fools saying the BMW did the best are just that, fools... the BMW got a poor rating as did many BM's up until 2014+. The 2012 (2009-2013) MAZDA6 got an acceptable rating

    That is one of the reasons to drive VOLVO! The BMW front wheel enters the cabin, you can't see what happened to the legs of the driver. Watch some VOLVO Crash tests, its amazing how smart the materials react! And because of that VOLVOS are heavier.

      Marcelo F. Kawas I don't think the side air-bag is the reason caused the Mazda performed poorly. The A pillar is bended and door is disintegrated....The passenger compartment must not be touched regardless kinds of test are. Similar thing happened when they tested VW passat CC, the door came off completely. On the other hand, BMW 3 series and Volvo held in good.

    • @emsicz
      @emsicz 10 лет назад +2

      SIMcityplayer2002 I call BS on that, it's only a proof that manufacturers make their cars just so they pass these tests without looking into real life situations. You can see these cost cuttings at BMW, the car smashes right into the barrier without any intention to break into side and slide along rather than just smash right on the wall. Japanese cars on the other hand were built to pass these tests even if they weren't required to do so. That really says something. Only European manufacturer that actually passed this test for me is Volvo, these cars are a real benchmark.

    • @demoskunk
      @demoskunk 10 лет назад +4

      emsicz Are you f-ing kidding?! The BMW protected its driver the best of all these cars. It's passenger cell and A pillar held up the best by far and its steering wheel air bag was not knocked off center, like the others.

    • @emsicz
      @emsicz 10 лет назад

      demoskunk Elaborate. These tests are conducted at low speeds. Should the accident happen in higher speed, passenger would've been injured, or killed, because the car goes into the wall. Mazda, on the other hand, slides around it. The deceleration is a major factor here and while BMW might have tougher shell, it won't hold against high speed collision and before mentioned deceleration will rip organs apart, while in a car that slides around the obstacle, the body does not suffer from such extreme forces. That being said, I've had E60, E61 and E91, all new and fully loaded, and they were crap. These cars are made to sell, not to serve, they've spent 6 months out of a year in a shop on warranty repairs. I wouldn't trust with my life to BMW anymore.

    I am not sure that is better in the Bimmy or the Audi than in the Chevy or Mazda (except for the lack of the curtain airbag for the driver), because the Delta V are smaller and even the EESs are smaller. Much more of the kinetic energy is dissipated in the crash and not in the movement afterwards. Is more likely to survive in the Chevy (which is strange and probably not on purpose).
