Tolkien didn't steal from Vagner. Vagner's ring story is based on old Germanic/Norse myths, which can be found in the Prose Edda. Tolkien was extremely well versed in Germanic myth, which is evident in many names and themes of his story. He drew inspiration from the original sources whence Wagner drew his, and likely the greek ring story too.

This stuff is so interesting to me, especially because I have interacted with this world, and no, I am not talking about psychedelics.
I have allowed the dreamworld numerous times to take over me and this resulted in lots of beautiful art and even prophecies.
But, eventually I have realized that these forces can be extremely misleading and malevolent. Few times I channeled something extremely dark and I realized I was playing with something that I am not prepared to deal with.
Since these dark experiences, I have closed my 'contact' and decided not to play with this too much.
As individuals, we can choose not to participate in this, but the question is, even if we choose not to, are we still unconsciously getting played by the game, while thinking we are the ones playing it?
This opens many questions and expands the old ones, such as the questions of free will, gods and mythology.
Is this world outside of us, or is this all the projection of our vast unconscious collective mind?
Are we creating these gods, or these gods created us?
If we are accessing this, how can we make sure we accessing the forces of light and not evil?

I used to not have to have my world litterally destroyed by simply seeing the future. I used to feel much less attached to losses and gains but in the past month I feel it closing in on me..
I have, without a conscious thought, starting last September, started pushing myself into the putting myself into a life I wanted, this reminded me of the things I forgot I enjoyed, like ice skating.. I always forgot when the rink was open..but in doing a mere vision board excersize put me into skating 10 to 15 hours a week..since last October..and then with my luck the hall extended the season into the 1st week of June. I've become so good but I've physically transformed as well as utilised my musical taste to give the space more atmosphere..and where I went from an occasional visitor of a space only 230 metres away from home to someone who people actively seek out.. I guess I needed this to give me better physical, mental, social and creative help because people in my family are suddenly facing life threatening illness.

Outside of the movie The Northman, most media doesn't understand old Germanic/Scandinavian culture. They think they can slap on Viking, Valhalla, or Ragnarok titles and call it close enough.
It's my personal speculation that if you could dig back far enough you'd find these archetypal beings transcend cultures and nations and just show themselves to us as our culture teaches us to expect.
Wotan isn't even an Aryan god, if by Aryan you mean the indo-european herdsmen who migrated out of the caucasus into Europe, Persia and India.
The chief god of the indo-europeans was the skyfather who evolved into Zeus and similar storm gods who commanded lightning and thunder.
Wotan appears to have sidelined that chief indo-european deity in the proto-germanic pantheon at some point. He seems to bear some relation to the wild hunt and the collecting of the dead as opposed to ruling the heavens and causing storms.
The Romans were syncretists and when they came across other pantheons of gods they were generally good at finding connections to their own gods to understand these new gods, but they don't associate Wotan and Jupiter. They interpret Wotan as a Mercury type figure.
It may be that Wotan began as an embodiment of madness/inspiration.

I think its interesting we in a sense show them honor by naming our days of the week after them and in a sense saying an invocation by simply naming the days on a daily basis.

There are many different gods that had same characteristics as Wotan, so i think we generally shouldnt focus on the name but the energy itself, what it is and what it represents.

Hearing talk of Wotan makes me think of a Crecganford video i watched where he was exploring the origins of Odin.
Most European paganism stems from the indo-europeans (what the Nazis called the Aryans) but Odin/Wotan doesn't appear to originate from the indo-european pantheon. The chief god of the indo-european pantheon is the skyfather who was a god of thunder and lightning like Zeus and Jupiter. Linguistically the germanic and nordic cognate of the skyfather would be Tyr not Odin/Wotan, whereas in terms of motif it would be Thor.
It's a long video drawing on linguistics and comparative mythology but he basically concludes that Odin originated from an older pre-indo-european belief system and in germanic and nordic paganism he pushed aside the indo-european skyfather deity to take his place. Somewhat in the same way that death goddesses pre-date the pantheons they were later slotted into.
If i remember correctly he suggests that Odin (and Wotan) was originally a god of frenzy and madness. That's why he's associated with magic and visions and prophecies. And also associated with the wild hunt and taking the souls of the dead to the underworld.

Question: Are you familiar with the serious research now being done on inherited memories, dispositions, and certain characteristics that science has always thought had nothing to do with ancestral DNA?
