I Got the full-size Adamas in this color two days ago. The action is AWESOME!! It feels tough in the hand, and the action is extremely smooth. Absolutely the EDC champ.
I picked one up for $180 on Black Friday. My first Benchmade. Yes, it is a mean knife, cuts like a razor, feels great to wield and is smooth, especially for such a large and heavy blade. I do have a couple of issue with the design though: 1) It's obviously a "tactical" blade, which comes with a MOLLE pouch. As such, I think that it could really have used a glass breaker. 2) The bottom hole is a safety concern - a potential pinky guillotine. Normally, it would be covered by the clip. However, I do left pocket carry and quickly reversed the clip on mine, leaving the hole exposed. As I was fidgeting with the action and building muscle memory, I found that to get better traction on the handle, my fingers tended to want to enter the holes. While this wasn't a problem for my larger fingers, I noticed that my rather small pinky was going in kind of deep... straight into the path of the blade. Luckily, I am pretty cautious and observant, so I noticed the issue before I got the tip of my finger chopped off and modified my grip. However, it's still a bit disconcerting. Makes me want to cover the hole with some guerilla tape or something.
I just got the exact same one today FDE/FDE Cru wear manual, I'll tell anyone whose looking at this knife, get it if you can. This knife is amazing, when you pick this thing up and open it your going to say to yourself this is a fucking knife. I put this up there with my microtech, and my protech, this thing is built like a tank and it's sharp as hell. 5 stars for Benchmades knives. Don't hesitate to get it
I’ve been following for quite a while. Collections for a few years now but I was today years old when I realized that your video along with Nick Shabazz is literally all one needs for entire world of knife content lol. Very well done sir. You have an amazing library
Been getting a lot more Benchmades lately. I’m currently rocking a blue Bugout. It’s a nice little lightweight folder. I’ll probably gradually move up to the big beefy ones like this Adamas. Right now I’m staying in the $150 to $175 range.
Great review! You covered all the upgrades and features really well, stayed on target, and even had an older version on hand. You forgot to baton with this folding knife, though, and then complain that it doesn't handle it well, which seems to be popular these days for some reason. Might pick up the mini version; Benchmade did a great job on the upgrade.
Did you ever swap the blades between the (Black blade and Tan) with the ( Brown blade and Green) knife so you get the (Black and green) color scheme that you want? That would look great, and the (Brown blade and Tan handle ) would look nice too.
The hardest thing about picking knives that have multiple color combos, is which color combo you should get😂 I can’t decide between the grey/black or fde/green😬
I always look forward to your daily uploads even if it's a knife that doesn't interest me. I do have both the new Adamas manuals and like them both. Thanks
Was just shopping for a “Hard Use” folder. Almost got the Adamas but I really don’t like thumb studs. I ended up with the SOG Seal XR. Almost 100 bucks less and in S35VN. Flipper with basically the same locking system. Could not be happier. How About a shootout between the 2 MC? Love to get your thoughts on the way they stack up. Keep up the great work. Love your videos. 🤘🏻
Wow! The flipper on that knife if absolutely obnoxious! I used to be a flipper guy, but these days, I'll take either thumb studs or thumb holes any day of the week, especially when the flipper is this aggressive. I recently picked a Pentagon XR. I like it overall, especially for the lowly $60 I paid for it, but the flipper is pretty useless on it... not enough detent resistance to play off, so you end up having to use a lot of wrist. It just gets in the way. Plus, there's some detent lash and rattle. While SOG has come a long way in the past few years, it's not Benchmade quality.
Just ordered and received this yesterday. So far it’s not as smooth as the mini out of the box. The grind isn’t consistent from tip to base. It starts at a sharper angle and gets wider towards the base. Maybe that’ll be better so the tougher angle is at base for harder use and the thinner angle at the tip for “fine” work
Got the mini and have the same thing. Maybe its on purpose then...I personally don't care for it and I'll be bringing the whole edge into the same angle as the tip.
I like mine quite a bit, although I have only carried her a handful of times. So much competition for pocket time. I have this idea for a comparison/contrast or a 'battle to the death' between the new Adamas and the Manix XL in 4M. So many similarities and so many differences.
Metal complex I just ordered a adamas from blade HQ just because you recommend them they were super helpful thank you for the suggestion in your information section
Hey I was wondering about what DBK found about the locking problems on their mini adamas, is it just a problem with their unit or does someone else had problems with that?
THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS VIDEO!!! I DON'T KNOW WHY, BUT I'M SO EXCITED THAT CAN'T CONTROL THE VOLUME OF MY TYPING!!!! lmao Seriously, I just bought this knife and then came across this video. So cool.
After buying one I would say the Benchmade Adamas in Cru-Wear rivals the Demko AD-20, maybe better if not considering production vs custom. There, I said it 😎
Man, I just truly hate partial blades. Either pick a plain edge or a serration. I do not want both. Glad that the one you have there is plain all the way through.
I purchased a Benchmade Mini Osborne direct from there website in the middle of last year. The centering was aweful! Nearly touching the liners/inner scales. Had to send it back. Came back couple weeks later and still isn’t perfect but it’s workable.. definitely disappointing for how much you spend on a little knife. So I wouldn’t say there QC is fixed but I am hoping they do improve this year. I love there designs just hate to be another victim of there notorious qc issues.
Unfortunately mine came with the blade off center....disappointing because I thought Benchmade made quality control changes. My first Benchmade experience...back it goes!
I’m debating on mini or full-size. I get a discount on them from where i work. I don’t have a “large” edc i mean my anthem is a 3.5 inch blade and 8 inches over all ish.
Got mine in this exact configuration from KnifeJoy earlier in the week. Absolutely love it. My first Benchmade, and what a way to be introduced to the brand! Might pick up a Mini too. KinfeJoy still seems to have this configuration in stock, if anyone is interested
I was at cabelas yesterday n was looking / playing w adamas The blade was rather dull tbh but suuuuuch a cool design Ended up getting a crooked river Which has a wicked sharp blade Pretty disappointed the Adamas had a dull blade cuz I rly would’ve rather bought that instead
Had just decided to preorder the micarta/cru pm2 (again) for moving boxes/drain pipes when I saw a blemished adamas from midway for 180. I'm going to "blemish" it in the first minute sawing through a muddy plastic pipe, so whatever! Rallied the funds and I guess I'm getting my xmas knife early enough to scratch it up by the new year heh. Of course metal complex has a good video of it to geek out on. Got a year of your patreon in appreciation of the excellent advice I've gotten from this channel. I added $4.80 to the total, please consider this my bribe for rigging the next giveaway :P kidding!
I bought the full-sized Benchmade Adamas a couple weeks ago black G 10 with gray blade and I love it but at that price point, I don't like carrying that expensive of a knife around so I just ordered an Ontario rat 1 to carry since that one is a great knife and not as expensive I can keep my good knife at home and feel a lot better about it.
@@Fiber64 thank you, I still need practice but that honestly helped me understand the mechanics behind how it works although I kinda feel dumb for not figuring it out on my own lol
I've bought 3 different 940's , 2 945's , a bug out , a valet , and mini adamas. No issues with any of them . 940 is an awesome knife. Mine were all purchased in the last year.
Probably not-its not a true stainless. With normal use out of the sea you will probably have NO problem with rust as long as you wipe it down after use.
It’s hilarious that the second _one_ axis lock knife fails, the cold steel ninjas jump out from their hiding places and shout “shoulda bought a cold steel!” Axis lock is strong enough. This particular one just failed. The only knife that won’t fail ever is a good ol Buck 110🙄
These knives consistently fail in hard use, at the axis lock. The springs are not stiff enough and allow the lock to open (and therefore the knife can close on fingers) when the knife has an impact. You can bang the butt on a table and fail the lock. Too bad, I love this knife otherwise.

The new Adamas and Mini-Adamas are both great knives. I slightly prefer the full sized, although the mini carries a little nicer.
Really digging the new adamas changes. Still maintains some of the overbuilt goodness while changing with the times sort of. Good review as always.
Best knife I've owned.
I have this exact knife in the mini version , which is still a sizable knife !
It’s a wonderful beast !!
I thought about picking the full-size up but I am enjoying the Mini Adamas a lot. Think I'll save the money for the new Demko's.
I still remember going to cabelas and looking at benchmades for the first time. When I saw the Adamas I just thought “wow, look at that big bastard!”
I like the revisions from the old one, I never could warm up to that one. Looking forward to trying it again

Great review. Kansas gang. Can’t wait to get my hands on one of these. Thinking about trading my bailout for one.
I got the wiha driver and bit set cus of your channel, and I love both of them

Benchmade should do a Adamas Variant do a bronze ceracoated blade and accents and a Dark Red G10 will call it THE MARS ADAMAS now there's an Idea.

I bought this and didn't keep it. It's the blade coating, I freaking hate that BM is hell bent on painting tool steel.
It looks cool 😂
I've never been able to get the finger flick thing down with any knife, I'm not really sure why

GPknives has the best price right now
Blade HQ has Spyderco Rock Lobster exclusive for sale right now !!! Got me one . 😁😁
Just ordered one!

Great review! I will have to pick one up.
If I get an older model like the 940-2 will the quality control be good or is it just with their newer models

Is the sheath Molle compatible
Can this steel be used in sea water?

No. You'll want something like LC200N.
Trying to decide between the Adamas or the Protech SBR anybody have any input?
I wish the centering on mine was better out of the box. Now I get to fiddle with it.

Great working knowledge. Thank you.
A thicker blade with the original design would be a much better tool.
two year ago 236$, now at360$.... 😞
DBK did a hard use review about this. Go check it out! 😁
Is it worth upgrading the first-gen D2 version?
Absolutely
If you are happy with with d2 edge and you know how to sharpen the d2 is great but having both the cpm is lighter and does take a very nice edge
These knives consistently fail in hard use, at the axis lock. The springs are not stiff enough and allow the lock to open (and therefore the knife can close on fingers) when the knife has an impact. You can bang the butt on a table and fail the lock. Too bad, I love this knife otherwise.
Yup they're a good knife as long as you dont abuse it
