And that pissed off Roth, beginnings of their implosion; Roth said, "and Eddie walks in, does the same ol' guitar solo he's done forever, and Steals The Show!", in a condescending manner lol
There was an agreement within the band that members wouldn’t do any other work outside of the group. Everyone was out of town so Eddie said yes because “who was gonna know if he played on this black kid’s record.” 😂😂😂😂😂
People forget his impact. He crossed over to the rich, poor, rock fans the lot. I know loads of metalheads that listen to the hardest stuff yet still love MJ. You'll never have a more loved and admired artist like MJ. Even celebs were fanboy/fangirling him. A celeb to the celebs ultra elite. Miss him.
While Eddie Van Halen performed the solo, all other guitar and bass was played by Steve Lukather of Toto including that sick riff throughout the song. Toto was basically the back up band for this entire album.
I have a strange MJ story. I used to work at a fire dept and one day a coworker came into the office and announced that Michael had died. His friend was a responder (and no, he’s not supposed to be sharing that information). We turned on the tv and there was nothing. About a half hour later, words ran across the screen saying “First responders called to MJs residence.” About 10-15 minutes later, they broke into the feed to say he died. Very surreal to know about it probably before his family. RIP to the great King of Pop.
MJ did write his songs and many songs for other artists. He didn't play musical instruments, but when he went into the recording studio, he would hum or sing the parts for the other instruments as he heard them in his head. He was an icon in many ways. A huge loss. As for his skin, he did develop a condition called Vitiligo where you lose pigmentation. There was a lot of controversy over whether he was having procedures because they were necessary (for breathing issues), or for cosmetic reasons. Eventually, he transformed his face to look vastly different from where he started and could no longer deny having work done.
I feel bad for his nose though, that wasn't even his fault. He fell off the stage during dance practice and broke his nose. The surgery after I guess didn't look right to him and kept getting more done to hopefully fix it, unfortunately it never happened. The world was really cruel to him.
@@kylaia3155yup and on top of that, he got lupus which caused his body to attack healthy tissue. He wasn’t a great candidate for cosmetic surgery and had to get through multiple reconstructive surgeries to get rid of the dead scar tissue around his nose and cheeks. like you said he broke his nose in 1979 during dance rehearsal, the surgeon messed up his nose which caused him not to be able to breathe properly so he had to undergo a 2nd one. Lupus kicked in in the early 80s at the same time as the vitiligo happened so from there, the whole dead skin tissue problem in his face started which is why his nose ended up even smaller in the early 90s as it already was in the early 80s. His nose did look the same throughout the 90s so it doesn’t seem like he got some work done then. When we look at early/mid and late 2000s Michael, we can definitely see that he lost a hell lot of weight which of course made his nose appear even slimmer. We notice that so much because our nose is right in the center of our faces.
MJ never denied having work done he just denied having so many the media claimed he did which is true MJ never had that many only a few which is his personal business also he didn’t look different he looked the same tbhjust paler simply cause his Vitiligo & Lupus and also combination of age mixed in there
@@itsjustnaima yeah, the vitiligo also made him look even thinner than he was because pale skin obviously contrasts with shadows a lot more than darker skin.
He wrote a lot of his songs but a lot of his hits were written by others. And unlike Prince who could play all the instruments himself. Michael relied heavily on the talents of others
I`ve been an Abba fan since the ´70s. I think they created the best pop music ever in the history of music. But Michael Jackson was and always will be, the King of pop. I have so much respect for him for being a master vocalist, dancer and performer. In the league of his own. This is one of my favorite songs and videos by him. In my top three for sure.
Michael Jackson suffered from Vitiligo. Vitiligo is a chronic (long-lasting) autoimmune disorder that causes patches of skin to lose pigment or color. This happens when melanocytes - skin cells that make pigment - are attacked and destroyed, causing the skin to turn a milky-white color. He may have bleached his skin to even his color.
not bleach. It's benoquin. It's a treatment prescribed to people with vitiligo. Originally he used make up (you can find pictures where the make up is running. And his sequinned glove has make up stains inside it) first to cover up the light patches, before it became easier and quicker to cover up the dark patches as the vitiligo universalis covered more of his body.
I can't believe you lived this long without hearing Beat It. That's not possible. I'm sure you did, in the background, at least, but didn't realize it.
M.J. THE King of Pop! One reason he is KING is he knew how to pull from every genre. Had some of the best rock guitarist play with him. Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens...
No one will ever move like MJ. This song put him in a completely different class of Superstardom. He looked amazing in this era , yes there was some plastic surgery at this point but his look was his own creation.
This was about 1983 when this came out - I was 19 and MJ's celebrity was so huge. It was always an event to watch his videos especially when they first came out and everybody would be in front of their TVs on the evening of the release. I remember hearing there were real gang members in this video along with the dancers/actors playing the gang members. One of my top faves of his!
Just remember: if you need to stop a knife fight and potential gang war, breakdancing is the answer. And yes, you absolutely need to go watch Weird Al's "Eat It" immediately. He actually used many of the same sets and actors.
I had to stop and comment here at 2:46 into the video to say that in the time of this song/video Michael Jackson was neither “slept on” or “underrated” for anything. He was #1 for a reason. At this time he was the most respected music maker in the world. Don’t know why you have the impression otherwise, but it was not the case. We couldn’t get enough Michael Jackson at this time.
Michael was one of the most dynamic, electric performers that ever lived, along with being a great song writer. His videos were always a big dramatic production. 👍
That guitar solo you love so much was done by the infamous Eddie Van Halen. The founder and guitarist of the rock band Van Halen. Michael occasionally asks guitarists to play on his songs. Steven Stevens from Billy Idol's band, plays on Michael Jackson's song Dirty Diana.
The great thing about this song is that it just makes you want to dance, MJ and Eddie VH absolutely killed it in this song. I grew up listening to thrash and death metal, and I absolutely love this song. Doesn’t matter what skin colour you are, we can all relate to this song.
