We are exploring Ghost Towns of wild west beginnings of Idaho on an overlanding adventure!. Will, Kate, Chris, and Elsje meet up with Nick and Liz from @ZagRunner to visit the iconic Idaho ghost town of Silver City in the Owyhee Mountains. Along the overlanding route Will discovers a secret memorial to a father and grandfather on the backside of a random boulder in the Idaho Owyhee mountains. The group then visits the ghost town of Silver City, which is incredibly intact and they learn the history of the life and death of the citizens in the town and the town itself before finding an incredible car camping spot along the Owyhee River.

Thanks Jason. I too love a good history session (obviously). This one had less "Wheeling" and more kind of light exploring/adventuring..but what we didn't do on the trails, we made up for with the stories we found along the way. I have a ton of vids in the que to shoot and edit right now...but the next trip video will likely be Boulder Basin...that one has a little more "wheeling" I have no idea how I'll edit it (I never do) so hoping it turns out as good as this one :)

My grandmother grew up in Silver City… and she and her sisters all lived into their 80s… so not everyone passed away young. Lots of stories. Oh, and by the way, Three Forks is in Oregon - you seemed a little confused about where you were 😁

I’m mostly confused all of the time. I now 3 Forks is technically Oregon…but it’s easy to make that mistake when going back and forth while recording video. So cool to hear about your grandmother being from Silver City, thanks for sharing!

@@Venture2Roam I was reading through the comments to be sure no one else mentioned Three Forks was actually in Oregon. Being an Oregonian, I was ready to pounce!!
That said, outstanding work with your RUclips channel. I've camped all over the Owyhee area as well. Such a magical place! I appreciate your process of not giving out the actual locations and making people do their own work to find them. I want to assume you know about the many other gem locations out there. Cheers! @@TheDevindahlgren Thanks Devin. I know I know I know I know...it's easy to forget when you cross over to Oregon when you're out there..I caught that in the edit and was wondering how much I'd hear about it it in the comments. Having lived in both Idaho and Oregon..I would have called it out too :). Thanks for noticing we don't blow up locations. If someone wants to watch my vids and do the homework to find a spot, I have zero problems with that...if a place is a true secret, you won't hear me mention it on camera :)

Love silver city so much. It's the first place I used to take my family who were visiting Idaho from Michigan. You'd be amazed at how many people have no concept of stuff like this being real. They're just stunned by the actual mountains and all the undisturbed nature.
Life gets better when your entire state isn't covered in strip malls and amazon warehouses, I guess.
Living in the south, I hear 'this is god's country' often from old people at the fishing hole, but they have no idea how wrong they are. Idaho is god's country. There is no better place.
My ex and I got her old Taurus up there many a time, too. Should we have done that? Probably not, but was it fun? You bet.

@@Venture2Roam it’s just the town of silver city
The locals hate when it’s called a ghost town because people where coming up thinking they could go into every building there. It caused a lot of issues about 3-4 years ago with people who broke a few windows not know it wasn’t a ghost town.

    • @Venture2Roam

@@reviewmaster8910 If you look at the Nation Register of Historic Places, it's described as a ghost town. Same on Wikipedia. Even "Visit Idaho" has it listed as a ghost town. I think technically it's attached to Murphy..but also...technically it's not a city or town...that said..it's an uncommon type of "ghost" town...much like Shaniko, Oregon...with a ton of it having been purchased privately. People purchased the properties because they thought it was cool to own part of a ghost town and restore it...largely because of its historical significance...so maybe we should find a new term for it...like a Historical District. But I don't think folks are wrong to refer to it as a ghost town since its being described that way at many points of reference.
