This was more helpful than 45 mins of google searching and reading. I’m still having issues however with Skyrim modding. Specifically using a mod from steam that is supposed to make a mod from nexus work. The steam mod was on nexus but got taken down.
I subscribed to a mod and it says I am subscribed, but it's not appearing in the game. I keep looking up what to do, and it says go to the "mods window" and tick the box to activate it. But I have no idea where the mods window even is, I've never used a mod on Steam before and I don't see it anywhere, and can't even find a straight answer or guide that shows what to do
Great guide and very well explained, thank you. Bears to mention a lot of games have great mods but they're installed via the game, not via Steam Workshop. For example, MudRunner - the best map I played is Siberia, and it's a mod.
I really appreciated this information. I struggled for about 20 minutes to find a way to get mods on some of the games i had only to find out later that it wasn't supported by steam. Now I know how to find those games that are supported in a much more efficient manner.
How to download the mods without having a steam account or at least without launching the game? I mean i just want to download the files, why am i being forced to have an account, subscribe and even launch the game? wtf?! Why do they make it so dumb, there should be a mod list, every mod has a button "Download" you press it and it starts downloading with no demands jeeezz... pathetic.

I've googled it, and it says all of these games are supported on workshop. So can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I desperately need help! I am not tech savvy whatsoever but moved over to pc gaming to play kenshi, been playing with mods and have over 100 hours in the game. Randomly my game crashed while it was trying to save, now none of the mods that are downloaded into my kenshi workshop appear in the actual game and nothing I do manages to fix it, I’m really stressed out about this
It says there is no workshop for Return to Castle Wolfenstein but if I search for RealRTCW it says it's a mod for thar game. I don't understand, if it has a mod why doesn't the workshop show up
Less than a minute in and it already has incorrect information. The 'Workshop' filter does not show you games that allow mods, but rather shows which games allow you to use steam workshop......

Is workshop the only way to install mods? I ask because I know Half Life has loads of mods, but when I search on games that support workshop, Half Life doesn't appear, how come and why?

Warning it appears Steam only has Mods for BS games u never heard of. Nothing for any good games. GTA v, Dbz Kakarot, Witcher, Elden Ring, etc... so basically buying games off steam is a waste of time and money of you want to mod. You're welcome.
