I beleive that the pyramid ship there was one of the dissenters that the witness 'banished' from its race. Much like the statue that clovis bray saw was probably one of the dissenters as well. In both cases, they gave the darkness to a race of people to do something with. I would propose that these dissenters were darkness worshipers like how oryx was, and the dissenters goals were to spread darkness to different peoples. One of the reasons I think they'd do this, is to encourage those people to use darkness to fight the witness. After all, darkness was the key that the dissenters wanted us to use to destroy the witness.
We know the pyramids themselves predate The Witness so I think Seht was a planet visited by one of the Precursor gardeners at some point? Like we know the Precursors would visit other planets to terraform them?
I thought the same thing, reminds me there are still questions unanswered about Savathun’s betrayal during the collapse and what stopped the witness from enacting the final shape back then
@@ryanselle3778 as best as I understand it, The Witness entrusted The Veil to Nezarec during The Collapse but Savathûn killed him, crashed his Pyramid into the moon to be found by Miisraxx’s mother, cursed his remains and hid The Veil on Neptune. Then she’d framed Nezarec as some sort of traitor
Afaik the Qugu are the first, and so far only, species that has a platonic connection to the Darkness. They don't worship it. They don't vilify it. It's simply a tool for them. They might not even realize that it's Darkness giving them these abilities. They might just think it's an ability inherent to their species. What other entity do we know of that views the Darkness this way? The Winnower. It is simply truth."
The ecumine also were a race aligned with the darkness. They were telepathic through v the darkness. I don't think they worshipped it and weren't an 'evil' race
Didn't the Witness species use the pyramid ships before they went all, well, Witnessy? It could be possible the ship was from the pre-Witness days. Didn't they say they had searched the stars for purpose?
The Hive didn't come about until after the Witness was created. We know this because Rhulk visited Fundament, the Hive homeworld, before the Hive had the power of darkness. Rhulk being the first Disciple of the Witness means that the Witness predates the Hive.
@@the42nddoctor27 I'm sorry, I don't see how that is relevant? We don't know how long the ship was in the mountain. It could predate the existence of the Hive. I don't see how they are connected.
There are a lot of similarities between the Hive and the Qugu, they were both a weak species who formed a symbiotic relationship with another species that empowered them with the darkness. The Witness and Rhulk plotted to turn the Hive to the darkness and shape them into an army that does their bidding, maybe the Witness had similar plans for the Qugu? Maybe the Witness planned for the Hive and the Qugu to go to war to see which species would be the strongest and would in turn make the best army to do its bidding. Also the description of Savathun’s hive is a good reminder that no matter how much Savathun tries to gaslight us into thinking she’s helping humanity, she has committed genocide against hundreds of species in the universe and definitely does not have any sympathy for us.
In the Act 2 livestream they said, that the precursors aren`t the only ones within the witness. The Episode is also about finding that fragment of the Witness, which landed on Nessus. That there weren`t just precursors within the Witness, the Echo being the center of the story and this lorebook make me think, that Te`Qal became a part of the witness and is now the Echo.
I think the pyramid ship was buried there as some sorta gardening technique by the precursors BEFORE the witness. It'd be the best explanation, as it'd open the door to a bunch of "disciples" popping up, even after the witness has been defeated (albeit, w/o any inherent darkness power ups). Maybe it was loaded with tools for helping sow life on planets? Just crash a bunch of ships full of atmosphere stabilizers and spores onto barren planets and give them a few millenia or somethin'.
Myelin thank you for all the lore videos over the years. Your content made me enjoy playing D2 so much more over the years. Even though I don’t play it anymore I still have your content 🤌🏽🤌🏽
The whole situation of offering limbs to this beast which in turn gave them visions of the future of important events is very similar to what we did with Nezarec's fingers. We brewed them and Osiris consumed it and saw Neomuna and the Veil.
I see parallels between the pyramid ship inside the mountain on Seht and the pyramid ship inside the moon that we discover in Shadowkeep. We know that the lunar pyramid was Nezerac’s, and I believe it got buried in the moon after Savathun defeated him, but I don’t believe this ship to also be Nezarec’s. If Nezarec was near the Qugu he definitely would have preyed on the species since they have strong telepathic abilities.
I believe this eludes to a cast off part of the witness. One that wasn’t down with exterminating all life. One that wanted to help people. Like how all the abandoned pyramids we went to had them. Maybe a way to reintroduce the idea of resonance as a more neutral power.
This Pyramid ship on the Qugu Homeworld predates the witness, and must have been a ship from one of the other factions of the Precursor People that crashed landed there, over time becoming buried under an accretion of soil, rock and other debris from it's impact with the planet. That the Qugu did not know of it's existence but evolved under it's influence is clear. What is not so clear however is how SAVATHUN knew of it's existence, IF she knew of it's existence. But somehow I think that the Qugu and how they operated gave clues to Savathun that SOMETHING gave the Qugu their natural affinity and ability to use, and dwell in Darkness. Were the Qugu deliberately singled out by the Hive as another example to test their Sword Logic? NO, I do not believe so, they were just another species on the line of sight along the path being carved out of the Universe by the Hive.
I always like to just throw stuff out for fun, so here goes. Sorry for length. Just thorough with my thoughts is all and I love theorizing stuff. The "nectar" the Qugu consume were introduced to micro organism on Earth and led to the original Vex. After the destruction of the Qugu by the Hive, some of the surviving Qugu came to Earth for refuge with some of those beasts and set up a portal/gate as a "just in case" measure. Being different from the life on the Qugu's world, microscopic organism partook on the nectar and had a change. Not having emotions or memories like that of more evolved life forms, they just saw imagery of reproduce, adapt, consume, learn, collective, expand, survive. They pretty much became an intelligent virus that acted collectively. They spread to the Qugu, infected them, learned from them as they consumed, and by accident or design something happened that sent a bunch of them through the portal as it malfunctioned. Not just sending them elsewhere but a freak accident that sent them back through time. Some of the proto-vex remained on Earth or arrived at an early time. They adapted a strategy of using other life forms to keep themselves reproducing, influence, adaptation to better suit them, and becoming symbiotic. The live in the cells of life. Humans are filled with an evolved, symbiotic line of proto-vex and we call them Mitochondria, and that is why Vex Milk/radiolaria works in the creation of Exos. Earth is the birthplace of the original Vex and the rest are the offshoot lost proto-Vex that were sent through time.
When listening to this why do I picture the combo of a race of anthropomorphic Xolotl lizards and the Forerunners with a little of Ender's Game mixed in.
I’ve learned from experience that if something otherwise obscure is being expanded upon in a Season, it will play a role in the story. Bungie said the main draw of this Episode is “uncovering a ancient Civilization” I would not be surprised to learn that the Qugu’s minds have persisted within the Vex Network, and Maya- uh, I mean The Conductor has been using them to act as the new controlling minds of the Vex. They are the reason why the Choral Vex act with increased personality and independence. The Qugu’s minds live within them.
