Love you dude. My mom died in my 2nd year of uni, and watching s1 in my 4th year really hit me hard, especially during Askellad's finale. I've never really thought about what I'm going to do after she left, but VS is giving me a feeling of direction
12:57 The Askeladd pose, but he's speaking of Thors' ideals. Learned eloquence and combat ability with Askeladd, and inherited Thors ideals. I fucking love this show.
Bro when he said that he does not hated Askellad anynore to Einar I cryied my eyes out. Honestly he was a cruel father figure and mentor but he show in his last moments his respect for Thorfinn and his wish for his life. A true Dad moment ❤
In the manga the "You've become rather eloquent, who did you take after?" stuff was straight up "You speak like Askeladd" instead. The anime works because it lets you interpret and Thorfinn has become a mixture of both men anyway, but the playful lines and smirk with the crossed arms was almost exactly an Askeladd move, shockingly so, and Canute can notice so clearly how much he looks like him here.
Thorfinn in the end of season 2 embodies Matthew 10:16- "I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves"
All manga readers have been calling this season peakland for a reason, the show keeps being great, but the farm arc is one of the best stories ever told in manga/anime
“Carve that encounter into me.” 🌾 With a violent past, a boy was turned into a slave. Someone who is considered property and by all means has no voice or rights. On this farm this boy turned into a man, and through his own self improvement and growth, and just being himself was able to change the lives of soo many. A farming community, a young master, an ex slave, a runaway warrior, a new found brother, and even a king. But also he has ‘carved’ his way into the hearts of all of us. The readers and watchers whose lives may very well change just by experiencing his life too … Thank you Thorfinn. Thank you Yukimura.
As soon as Thorfinn said, "Brother, come with me", that's the cue for the tears to start flowing. Amazing how an episode that has no action, pain, or tragedy can induce such waterworks. It just reaches out to you within the soul.
The "I feel good" from Canute is so powerful if you realize how much his father's head haunt him like crazy before. How unsettling for him but when he realized he has someone who'll fought besides him and is an ally, that surely made him felt relieved.
I couldn’t stop bursting into tears when Snake revealed his name finally…all his way of life was fighting as a soldier, much like other vikings, and he didn’t know how to express all the miracles Thorfinn and Einar had brought about…Revealing his name was the most suitable way for him to show his respects to Thorfinn and Einar at that time.
13:08 Understandable that everyone thought he was referring to Thors here, but the meaning behind Eloquent most definitely suited Askeladd, that was something Thors lacked. It's beautiful to see that Thorfinn has learnt from both Thors and Askeladd, his two father figures, where one lacks the other makes up for.
Definatly always took this as askeladd, his stance gives it away. Askeladd was always cunning an clever with his politicing like thorfinn is acting here
i honestly saw this as them saying thorfinn got his eloquence from neither askeladd or thors, but from god and the brief moments he had with the bible, as they show the ocean waves right after Canute asks the question. In the episode prior, Canute makes the connection between the waves and god. i dont believe thorfinn is a downright devout christian, but he certainly has pacifist christian values. I mean just look at the jesus imagery in thorfinn.
Hats off to Yukimura-sensei that has created such a beautiful character like Thorfin, son of Thors, who can become the role model for human being to be kind everywhere and everywhen no matter what. That line “I have no enemies” has changed the way many people behave and think.
13:09 When Canute asks who did he take after. A lot of people assume Thors. But the one flaw Thors had was his inability to talk his way out of situations. He himself said he was not yet a master since he still needed a sword to begin with. In this very moment, Thorfinn does what Thors never could do, and ironically the missing piece that Thors needed was the one Askeladd taught to Thorfinn. We can debate how much Askeladd actually cared about Thorfinn. But theres a deliberate reason he kept him alive and its very clearly past just him being useful. Asekeladd was surrounded by useful people and Thorfinn really wasnt exactly neccesary to the plan. Askeladd alwasys talked about finding the true king. About Artorious returning from the west. While he was setting Canute up for this. He also asked Thors to lead him. In a way. Thorfinn and Canute both because two different sides of the Hero Askeladd wanted to create. They both fill the holes each other made and achive what Askeladd wanted. Askeladd was a child born into Slaver. Thorfinn seeks to save the people like Askeladd's mother. Honestly its incredible how the entire series is wrapped around basically Askeladds two adoptive sons.
One of the most emotionally satisfying episodes of television for me. The way they did that beginning poem montage and then bringing it back around in a totally different way. I don't think I've teared up as much for any other show than I have for this season. And it's only going to get better.
Im so glad Einar isnt just a chrachter that was here for one season and then is gone. Im glad we get to see him and thorfinns friendship continue to develop.
I'm really happy you guys love this show to such a high degree. You guys are a vital part of my viewing experience and I appreciate the series so much more because it feels like my own thoughts and feelings are being realized and said aloud. Love what you guys do so much and I'm thankful you guys exist.
Was waiting for this. You guys are one of the few channels that actually appreciate every sentence. I'm so glad you pointed out how good the writing is, because I still can't get over how beautiful nearly every line in this episode was.
I don't think we've ever seen Milena cry like that in a long long time. She's always seemed like the tougher one to crack during emotional scenes - but your reaction here felt very real (as always!). I could really relate, Milena! This episode broke a floodgate for me too! This episode of Vinland Saga is literally one of the finest moments in television/storytelling EVER for me. I get emotional every time I watch the "carve it" sequence, as every little moment and character and arc resolves in a satisfying and final way that makes sense for the story while communicating the themes PERFECTLY.
What I love your reactions is your discussions. After every episode I get a different perspective on what happened and it enriches the story so much more. For example when you talked about how Thorfinns ancestors ran away from England and how this is a parallel.
This is a 10/10 season for me. Best show of all time, can't say...I've seen 700+ anime so it is hard to choose. Has this had an impact on my life? Yes. This anime goes into my top media for sure. Vinland Saga season 1 and 2 message for me is - "You have no enemies. No one in the world is your enemy." Greatest message of all time of any media I've consumed.
To find meaning in admitting who you really are to the world is a life changing lesson, and to share it with the people that matter is a most precious bond
That meant pure trust and respect from Snake. Maybe it was also him recognizing he is beyond his past mistakes. When I was reading this part in the manga, I cried too! 😢 What broke me while watching the show was how they brought back the Norse poem at the end. It was so good
Vinland Saga season 2 is a masterpiece. very thought provoking and I think it connected with a lot of people. 'You Have No Enemies' was a big meme on TikTok.
I just have to say that after all the heartbreak and sad tears after the previous episodes, to finally cry happy tears was so incredibly, emotionally, satisfying and rewarding. Best episode of anime I have watched to date. Best episode of TV period for me. Loved this episode so much.
Yeah, I totally agree with you. I love season 1, but after season 2, it even escalates to another level. It became a life changer to me. I've also started (and finished) reading the manga after that.
This season made me cry more than I think anything ever has, the story and characters and holy wow the music left me so emotional even after multiple viewings. I think this is a truly beautiful work of art and this episode in particular is the best episode or tv I’ve seen in a very long time. It’s a 10/10 and this is from someone who despises most anime. This show makes you wanna be a better person.
I think Melina is having a great time with this show. I know both are loving it but Melina is more invested in this show than any other I've seen them react to. It's fun watching someone experience that level of engrossment in a show. I only felt like that with a handful of shows and I remember those times quite fondly.
I so enjoyed your reactions to this, what is imho the greatest single piece of video entertainment ever produced (Vinland Saga in totality). I've been around over 50 years, I've seen a lot of shows over that time, and it is truly something special. Oh, and yes, tears in HD are even better! :D
Lol I laughed when you asked if this was life altering for everyone else, I can't speak to everyone else but for me, after watching this I had the reaction the priest had when he heard of thors saying a true warrior doesn't need a sword, I straight up meditated on this shit, this set my mind on a completely new path and I actually started to comprehend the real meaning behind having no enemies. Becoming the embodiment of love and chasing after peace. This episode was in fact life altering for me.
Every single side character contributed to their roles so well this season and their storylines have come full circle. Not a single wasted character or episode this szn unreal
Episode 21+22 changed my life for sure. The conversation between thorfinn and snake. And also olmar standing up to his brother and admitting his faults
The feels I got from this episode were just amazing. Seeing just how much of a positive impact Thorfinn made on everyone he met on the farm from Olmar, Snake, Old Master, Pater and even on Canute, it's no wonder they all think of him as a one of a kind incredible man. The scene of Thorfinn and Einar by Arnheid's grave is one of the best scenes I've ever witnessed in any show given the deep context behind it. Also that special poem at the end of the episode was just beautiful. Perfect way to wrap up the farmland arc for every single character we saw in S2. Also this JUST the beginning ot Thorfinn's journey to establish a nation in Vinland. He still got more conflicts to overcome before finally atoning for all his sins by making a peaceful nation in Vinland.
Say his name! "Roald, son of Grim!" I was smiling and weeping when I watched this episode thinking about how much you would cry and love it. Snake finally revealing his name, also indicates that he has learned to be man who treats no-one as an enemy, and to give up being a warrior and with that, no longer a bootless man (a criminal who cannot pay his bounty, his wergild), an outlaw. And Canute learned that to make peace, he can stop making war. He has the option to stop waging wars to impose peace. The simple and obvious lesson which the USA has never learned, that the best way to fight terrorism is to stop doing terrorism, the best way to end war is to stop making wars.
Yes I can officially say this is my favorite anime and probably show of all time. Never thought I would see the day that I would find something that would replace Hunter X Hunter.
Hey, LM. I was just watching your "tv shows ranking", and you mentioned that Person Of Interest didn't get your attention. I would invite you to take a look at it. It's really good, and it gets very emotional and intense, it seems something you would like to cry watching. haha
Great Vinland Saga reaction, as usual. I can't wait to watch your next reactions. By the way, taking into account that you are getting closer and closer to the end of this second season (the next episode), which means that there will be a gap to fill in your reactions schedule, I highly recommend that you both fill it out by choosing to react to the psychological thriller *Monster* It's a masterpiece that I think you'll both love for its great themes and characters, and I personally think it would be perfect for your amazing reactions and reviews.
30:40 THIS is what im talking about. I'm not the kind of person who gets too emotional into any media, the only time i've cried watching something is when i watched Hachi (the sad dog movie) because animals are a soft spot for me (also it didnt help that i had my dog right next to me while watching it 💀). Of course i've gotten emotional, sad, frustrated but no tears. While watching this episode, it was the first time i've experienced wanted to cry (that knot in your throat) out of happiness, i've never felt that before and i'll always love this show for that.
So there is of course no clear moment when the Vikings disappeared but it historians usually mark the end of the Viking age at 1066 when the king of Norway Harald Hardrada is killed in battle trying to conquer England. That is only 30 years after Cnut's death... yeah, he is instrumental in ending the Vikings, in changing them.
The Canute with the waves thing is based on writings he left behind. He wrote a lot about his views on things, and this series brought it to life beautifully.
If you love this so much pls vote for this to win anime of the year. It deserves it. Also give it a 10/10 on IDMB, Myanimelist and Rotten tomatoes. Vinland Saga deserves a 9/10 rating on idmb and Myanimelist. Some people are rating this badly because they found the 1st 7 episode of season 2 boring and just abandoned the show.
@@dwarf1387i've read jjk's manga and well it's not completely crap but it sure is overrated to astronomical level, but definitely better than demon slayer for me
No show ever gave the same amount of chills and bundle of nerves I felt when Thorfinn talked abt the paradise he wanted to create. The imagery, music, everything abt the scene was perfect
At first, Thorfinn, who was hesitant to even call him a friend, said strongly, "Come with me, brother," which struck a chord with me the most. The two are truly brothers, bound by a bond stronger than blood.
I love this arc since I first read it in the manga years ago. Pre-timeskip I thought it's a great manga, but post-timeskip it really ascended into something special. Of course, you can't have the latter without the former, it's really a whole story.
Survive Said the Prophet has did the first intro of Vinland Season 1 as well as this one! They’re a great band and also did both opens for another anime called Banana Fish (those two songs are equally as great as the two they did for Vinland)
This episode was so masterfully done. I love it. I'm a manga reader (read 200 chapters) and i can say that Mappa took some creative liberties into really carving the story that fits into a cinematic experience. For example, they removed the part in the manga that shows thorfinn's face all swolen up. It was hilarious to see him talking to Olmar and Snake like that. Maybe they did that because that comedic scene wouldn't fit the dramatic tone of the episode. They also added that scene of thorfinn walking up the mountain. Pater's monlogue was also never part of the manga (but i like it). They also removed some lines in the manga which reveals Ketil missing Arnheid, and the guests complain why they had to work from now on. Thorgil's departure was also not explained. In the manga it was said he left the farm and was never seen again. Over-all despite all these changes and additional scenes, I love the episode. Truely peakland saga.
When they called each other brothers the tears just started flowing. It was so beautiful. This entire episode was beautiful.. I've been afraid to say this out loud because I feel people might think I'm just saying it "in the moment", but I feel like Vinland Saga is my second favorite anime of all-time. Nothing can beat Hunter x Hunter for me, lol. But Vinland.. I have never been moved by an anime as much as this one. My god I feel like this show is one that should be required by law (lol) to watch when you become an adult because, no matter what, you will leave this anime a changed person. Sometimes it just blows my mind the beauty some people are able to create and this show is just one of them.
I really don't get why they only announce their breaks on a video. Non-watchers of that specific show would definitely miss them. Blows my mind why they never use the RUclips community. Takes a minute to put a couple of sentences there. Would easily avoid all these comments looking for the next upload.
I wish the girls would improve their communication with their community or rather start communicating. I guess the fact that they aren't even able to write a single sentence in the community tab says a lot about these two.
Just finished watching their reaction to ep 51, literally 8eps ahead of yt when it is meant to be 4?! Their communication with yt audience is terrible for sure.
I find it interesting how they decided to change some dialogue from the manga, not sure what prompted the decision. For example I remember at some point Thorfinn saying to Canute "You've changed. You have the face of a ruler now." and Canute huffed and replied "You speak like Askeladd now."
I really miss that dialogue. Yes, they both acknowledged that they have changed but I think there’s something really sweet about that particular interaction.
@@sacha. Yeah, Askeladd impacted both their lives so deeply and there's something very oddly bittersweet about the fact that they're the only ones that can talk about him to each other.
This is truly the most beautiful episode of anime I've ever seen, beyond anything I consider funny, epic or wholesome, Vinland Saga delves so deeply into the change in people that it's a wonderful show to watch.
Knut found God's work beautiful in Season 1 and thought love was beautiful. Then he realized that there is no love in the human heart. That Knut described Torfin as "beautiful". That's all I have to say.
Fun Fact: when Canute said to Thorfinn that he has become eloquent and he asked jim who did he take that after.. he meant that he reminds him a lot of Askeladd when he talks
I can’t comprehend how good this season has been. Season 1 was so important to make this season deeper, and even still I agree with you when you say you’re almost crying every episode in season 2. The only thing lacking in this season I feel is characters other than Thorfinn. Don’t get me wrong, I love einar, arnhied, snake, etc, but Thorfinn stands out head and shoulders above everyone else, and that’s nothing against the side characters I actually think it just shows how good Thorfinn is when all these amazing side characters are only distractions. Vinland definitely has the potential to be my favorite anime ever, and I cannot wait for season 3 to be animated so I’m going to have to start reading the manga🤓

Most beautiful and moving episode of anything I’ve ever seen.
Episode 21+22 changed my life for sure.
The conversation between thorfinn and snake.
And also olmar standing up to his brother and admitting his faults
I keep watching Vinland scenes on replay, started ever since the end of S1. I do it for emotional release.
Yess please watch Ranking of Kings. Seeing how you both loved Mob. Bojji is the cutest anime character ever imo. You'll love it.
He still got more conflicts to overcome before finally atoning for all his sins by making a peaceful nation in Vinland.
icried the whole episode. this is the best season in anime history for sure. everything is beyond perfect. the emotion is intense
LOL HXH still reign supreme to me. this not even close
Still HxH for me but this is really up there, i think Vinland Saga’s advantage over HxH is it’s shorter and easier to recommend to non-anime watchers
こんにちは!
英語わからないけどいつも楽しませていただいています。
ヴィンサガと同じ原作者の「プラネテス」っていうアニメもとても美しいので是非!
You two are going to love the rest of this series. especially the next season with the Fettered tern and Hunter Hunted
As you said... we litteraly saw your tears on 4k 😂❤
Cunute loves his husband too much to create more work for him!
I felt like i was at a job interview and the hiring managers are very excited for some reason at 21:08 😂😂
Happy to cry again to this masterpiece of an episode
Don't have a definitive Top 5 yet but Vinland Saga will definitely be there, among Jojo's, Attack on Titan and Legend of the Galactic Heroes
By the way, taking into account that you are getting closer and closer to the end of this second season (the next episode), which means that there will be a gap to fill in your reactions schedule, I highly recommend that you both fill it out by choosing to react to the psychological thriller *Monster*
It's a masterpiece that I think you'll both love for its great themes and characters, and I personally think it would be perfect for your amazing reactions and reviews.
I love your guys reactions thank you so much for watching vinland saga!
The quality on the video is insane. Congrats on the upgrade!
1-one piece
2-vinland saga
3-attack on titan
The second camera angle is sooo much better !!!!!👍👍 Great reaction as always girls
S2 made this my Top 1 anime
It is my favourite show. It made my life so much calmer.
Jujutsu kaisen wiil win im sure. Popular🤮
@@dwarf1387i've read jjk's manga and well it's not completely crap but it sure is overrated to astronomical level, but definitely better than demon slayer for me
@@Nandomo00 I think they will love Steins Gate
Vinland Saga is just the best ❤
Sometimes it just blows my mind the beauty some people are able to create and this show is just one of them.
snake telling einar and thorffin his real name is so special for me
The author of vinland saga is so wholesome especially on twitter
Congrats with the new camera! looks great
I really don't get why they only announce their breaks on a video. Non-watchers of that specific show would definitely miss them. Blows my mind why they never use the RUclips community. Takes a minute to put a couple of sentences there. Would easily avoid all these comments looking for the next upload.
I only watch their HxH videos, what happened? Did they announce in one of the reaction videos that they will be taking a break?
@@monakasan7486 they apparently announced it on their patreon
@@kaan_8693 oh ok..did they mention when they will be back?
@monakasan7486 I'm not a sub, so I don't know
Yea, they really don't use youtube community for some reason. should let us know too. there's more audience here than patreon
Al fin estaba esperando la reacción a este capitulazo 🚬🚬💯👏
The camera is perfect hahaha whatever show wins it will be great
I wish the girls would improve their communication with their community or rather start communicating. I guess the fact that they aren't even able to write a single sentence in the community tab says a lot about these two.
Yep, got to remember the human brain creates expectations
Just finished watching their reaction to ep 51, literally 8eps ahead of yt when it is meant to be 4?! Their communication with yt audience is terrible for sure.
what's wrong
These two are going to MELT when they see future Thorfinn, Karli and Karli's Mama.
well as this episode tease, is time for thorfinn to prepare for his journey to vinland
Pater was the first person that took care or thorfinns wounds in years…
I find it interesting how they decided to change some dialogue from the manga, not sure what prompted the decision.
I agree Vinland Saga is the best anime for me so far from what I've watched
Anime of the year
This is truly the most beautiful episode of anime I've ever seen, beyond anything I consider funny, epic or wholesome, Vinland Saga delves so deeply into the change in people that it's a wonderful show to watch.
New camera. Lola "so you watch our tears in HD", an yes we watched a lot of tears. Still have the last episode to watch more crying.
I love how thorfinn helps people around him and he doesn’t even realize it. Like Olmar, he had such a good character arc.
This arc really is KINOland and i feel sorry for everyone who dropped this masterpiece cuz "it got boring".
Knut found God's work beautiful in Season 1 and thought love was beautiful. Then he realized that there is no love in the human heart. That Knut described Torfin as "beautiful". That's all I have to say.
i've watched a lot of anime. like 20 years worth. this is definitely top 5 for me. maybe even number 1 but i cant decide.
Definitely up there
Theyre gonna LOVE ranking of kings lol
The second camera angle is sooo much better in my humble opinion 😅 Great reaction as always girls
Farmland might be one of the best written arcs in manga/anime history, but my fave is arc 3 and i cant wait for season 3 ❤
Fun Fact: when Canute said to Thorfinn that he has become eloquent and he asked jim who did he take that after.. he meant that he reminds him a lot of Askeladd when he talks
FINALLY. I've been waiting for y'all's reaction to this episode!!!
