A Bit About MoAn Inc. -
Trust me, the ancient world isn’t as boring as you may think. In this video, I'll be talking you through the basic plot of Seven Against Thebes: how the city with seven gates faced an army led by its own people.

Hey guys! I've uploaded my written notes on my website for you all, so you can find them at this link: www.moaninc.co.uk/aeschylus/seven-against-thebes-summary. Hope this helps! x
Thank you I needed this. The piece is in the french syllabus for this year (for engineering students) along with the suppliants. This will help a lot of us who are busy with maths and physics.
Thanks for watching :))
Mdr les français on se comprend
@@jeannesalamanca18 je ne suis pas français je suis Marocain, donc les œuvres sont même pas dans ma langue maternelle, c'est plus difficile.
la prépa c'est dur hein
Thank you so much!!
Actually this play will be studied by the entirety of french scientific students this year as one of the three mandatory books to read during school year so your video is super useful for all of us who don't have the strength to read the play 😅
Hahaha tous les flemmards de la prepa concentrés ici
Thanks for watching!!!
Apollos warnings of not having kids is the key. It was the ancients way of explaining the dangers of oxytocin
your summaries are how I'm studying for my classics final lmao
Good! ❤️
I enjoyed this, not a student, I read classics for my own pleasure. Keep making these, I watch them and like your personal comments on plot points and your humour.

Thank you ❤
You’re welcome :)
Anyone else feel like this told from Polyneikes' perspective would make one heck of an epic movie?
👀
Thanks. I never understood it that well before. Thanks for reading the important Eteocles' quote. I love these Greek plays.
Your summaries give me a sense of what I missed when I read through most of the extant plays but did it much too quickly.
Thanks for highlighting Eteocles' interchange with the female chorus. It fits with the main topic of a woman - Antigone - acting against a bad male ruler. It even reminds me of Pericles' gratuitous dismissal of women in his funeral oration.
Love hearing about some of these plays I missed along the way. With a stack of them around still to read, I love the overview. It's so interesting how each playwright tweaked the myth to their liking. I'm looking forward to reading it because I don't hear the dramatic circumstances increasing to raise the suspense or drama leading up to the end. The first six battles don't sound very dramatically exciting. I hope you continue delving into the lesser-known works. Now that I've found you, I've started looking back at your previous videos and will follow along with your new releases. Thanks for your efforts. 🙂
Thank you so much for this comment! ❤️
Hello Erica!
I just wanted to let you know that your channel has helped me immensely with my academic readings as the books I've been intimidated by for so long (yes Odyssey and Illiad I'm looking at you) I really love your way of storytelling, as it makes it so much easier for me to understand these ancient texts. And you're also the first person who grew my curiosity to driving into more Greek and Latin texts and how fun they are to explore.
I'm really grateful to have found your channel. And if it would ever be possible in future, it would be amazing if there's a discord community where we could join to discuss myths, texts and more things :))
Would love to support you in some way, let me know if there's a way 😊
Thank you so much for your kind words 🥹 And a Discord is SUCH a good idea!!! Thank you for the suggestion ❤️❤️

Aeschylus is the 🐐 keep up the great job, Erica 👏

and then comes A N T I G O N E ! You know a lot and to know ΑΙΣΧΥΛΟΣ is not easy. A Greek friend, Demetrios Maniates.
:)
Nice! Are you also planning on doing a video on Euripides’ plays on Heracles? (Heracles, Children of Heracles, Alcestis). I’m reading them now and would be great to have your take 😄 🙏
I am! I’ll hopefully get to Euripides next year 😇
eteocles was right trying to quiet the women in their open panic. nothing worse when you are trying to remain calm and collected for the situation at hand when someone on your own side is screaming and crying.
YESSS to tragedy, my fave🫶🏻
🤩🤍
So. I wonder would you be prepared to be on stage with Emily Wilson, Natalie Hayes, Edith Hall, Madeleine Miller to discuss the the Greek Classics in translation and the relevance today.
Chorus are usually very sassy so I’d say the first. 😂
if you would watch this video 2 times probably you could read this book in that time
Can you actually read Aeschylus in Greek unaided?
What are related questions for the text?
Oh you are amazing. You talk to directly to the camera without notes. (you are obviously a scholar ) Somehow I can't get past the makeup, the overblown projection. You have gift. Please do not diminish your opportunity
How is she "diminishing her opportunity " with makeup ? Your comment is ridiculous, her looks has nothing to do with her knowlegde. And what do you mean by "overblown projection" ?
It is a shame you are moving to tiktok. Unfortunately I will not be following you there 😢
I'm ONLY moving my individual book reviews to TikTok! I feel like no one actually read that post - I will continue with RUclips videos as per normal, but I will be uploading reading check-ins on here rather than one-book-per-video styled reviews. Only those will be moving to TikTok. Everything else is staying exactly the same.
