Champagne problems means a problem that might not seem like a big deal compared to all the other tragedies of the world like poverty or disease, etc. but still has a huge effect on that particular persons life. The song is not autobiographical but she did write it with her current boyfriend joe under a pseudonym. I think it’s about a woman that has mental health issues and doesn’t think she is good enough for the guy, and when he proposes she says no. The small town they live in is not surprised she says no, and kind of thinks he dodged a bullet. And she agrees with him, because she says one day you will find a better woman that will patch up the heart that she shredded. Hope that helps!
As someone who plays Piano i love in the end of the song, after she just sang a heavy emotional song and send it ot out to the universe, she just added 2 playful scales. Is something i do a lot kind of to break the tension. It's so organic and genius that i can see her relaxing the shoulders and messing around to regulate herself.
she wrote it with her now ex of 6 years. Its not a mental illness to not be ready for marriage but I can relate to being called similar things after breaking up with people
... one of the many things that you can find/discover after listening to this song repeatedly is that... In the bridge, she says knees... Usually when you propose, you get down on one knee... Guy was literally begging her to marry him... N she still said no... Yikes... Songwriting...
instrument at 5:08 Aaron Dessner uses a guitar with a rubber damper on the bridge (and he gave another to Taylor as a gift). It gives the guitar a different sound. He had his brother Bryce doing orchestration on the album though; so could be a classical (nylon) guitar, or an effect package in the mixing software.
Taylor has a love of language, phrases and words -- how they are spelled, how they sound. "Champagne Problems" is an old term that refers to the problems of the upper class --- real enough, but too far out of the regular persons life to appreciate. The struggles (mental or otherwise) of the rich are always denigrated by people with more existential problems -- like, you know, finding food. Doesn't mean the problems aren't real, though. Term isn't about alcoholism. The song is fiction; she is on record as saying she and Joe just really like sad songs.
This one is very interesting. The lyrics seem sad, but to me she tells the story in a disconnected way, like it seems to be about her but she / the narrator is not emotionally connected to the story and does not feel responsible. I liked the piano and the music generally seemed kind of bouncy and happy, which was an interesting contrast to the lyrics. I also like how the lyrics do the full circle thing at the end and talk about the next girl/woman. 🙂🎵
They said she wrote it from Selena’s point of view. Supposedly Justin proposed to Selena first, she said no because of problems they were having and then they broke up and he proposed to Hailey. Selena also has a song called “ring” off of her rare album she released after Justin and haileys marriage
As always, I love your reaction! Can't wait to see more of your reactions to evermore album or Taylor Swift in general. This song isn't about her at all. She wrote this song with her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn and he goes by the pseudonym William Bowery. They just love sad songs. Another song they wrote together was exile featuring Bon Iver. That was also a sad song about failed relationship. It's kinda ironic bcs I'm pretty sure they're having great relationship now. 🤣🤣

She wrote this with her boyfriend Joe because they love sad songs. It’s not about her at all. One of my favorite songs.
Man, read this made me really sad
Oh....
But how do you write this and not ask questions though
she wrote it with her now ex of 6 years. Its not a mental illness to not be ready for marriage but I can relate to being called similar things after breaking up with people
one of my favourite song from evermore

This was a fictional song, not about her life. Here for your journey, nice rx!!

One of my favorites. I hope you can also react to getaway car!
Think of her song “Tolerate It”. It has many of her answers as to why she said no. He didn’t treat her very well. 💔
Love your reactions! Hope you continue on your Taylor journey! Get ready for October 21! We’ll meet you at midnight.
I cannot wait until her new album is out!
the effect you thought was cool, I always thought that this sounds like champagne bubbles
