Brief how to pin rocker studs if you are on a budget and dont have the money or means to pull, thread and install threaded studs, this is on 041X SBC heads going onto a L98 TPI Camaro engine
We had one of these when i was a kid. The engine had pressed in valve studs. After 50k my dad would have to beat them back down with a large bolt and hammer, then we would be cruising for another 10k lol.
What length is the dowl pin? And do you drill all the way thru to the other side? Im doing a rebuild on a 5.7 vortec and was at the point of adjusting the lash and the damn stud spinned…arrg!!
I definitely would not recommend doing this with the heads on the engine, you don't want a possibility of metal shavings in your engine, if I was going to plan on doing this I would go ahead and pull the heads and do the top end gaskets at the same time no point in being lazy with performance.

Thanks brother!
Tip to save drill bits. Run that drill as fast as you can because it's very small. Small bits should be run fast, large should be run slow.
I never knew there was such a thing.
Real clever

Yes you drill all the way through and long enough to be flush with both sides
Can you do this when the head is still in the car?
Yes. Cover everything with rags, paper towels, etc.
