This is honestly so helpful, I'm starting nursing school in the fall for my BSN. I've always been interested in going to one particular specialty and I've always heard start at med-surg and work your way up. I'm glad to know that others disagree on that fact! Love this!
Being a male student I got to see a lot, except with it came to the babies and the mommies haha. I understand... I was a young male and they didn't really want me in the room but for the most part I think being a male nurse is becoming much more normal!
Hi, may I ask why your brother went to nursing from EMT instead of paramedic? I’m a make nursing student and took years and thousands to get in but recently I found that paramedic is more my style. Congratulations to you both and God bless 🙏🏼
Wow!! Our adn program is only about $4000 (not including books/uniform) in FL. I’m so grateful that it is. I’m paying for it out of pocket because it’s so affordable.
@@SierraLyn Really!? Yea our cost per credit is incredible. It’s must be cost per living or a northern thing really. I thought about finishing my BSN in Ohio (my bf is stationed here in Fl but from OH) and saw much it would be and said no way! I’ll stay in FL till I’m done with school! 😂
@@heidievans6336 WOW! Honestly that’s incredible. So many people go into debt for 30k plus and don’t even finish their degree. 17k for everything is a steal. Amazing!
Sooo insane to hear about the price of y’all’s program! My ADN program I applied to is $6,000 ish total! I’m in GA so completely opposite coasts but omg!
Funny thing is, it's all state specific. I live in the Philly area and nursing school for an ADN can cost just what normal CC tuition is in Delaware, normal tuition with some extra bit of fees in the Philly suburbs, and across the river in NJ it can cost nearly double or more for an ADN. That's because they charge something like $125-$175 per credit just for it being a NUR course on TOP of the initial tuition. So your tuition will already be 2-3x as much than a normal AS/AAS. It actually almost makes more sense to go for a BSN program when you're only spending a few thousand more per year.
I hate to say that the comment amount, "not getting a job unless you have your BSN in big cities," is 100% false. The idea for having the BSN is strictly a requirement for the hospital to maintain its Magnet status. And nearly every one of those hospitals will make you sign some sort of contract stating that you'll either obtain, or be mostly through your BSN by your 3rd year anniversary. And to circumvent people getting around it and not getting their BSN, they do things like withhold pay raises, clinical ascension and so on.

Thank you for watching, best of luck on your journey this fall, that's so exciting!💛

Holy moly, that's AMAZING! And to think, we actually attend one of the cheaper schools in the west coast.
