Just a heads up, the movies don't tell you but when the death eater's take over the ministry they make Voldemort's name taboo. A spell so that anyone who says it out loud can be tracked instantly. It's how they found Harry when they left the wedding, it also pops enchantments so even if you are hidden they can find you. Ron overhears this when they're getting the locket from the ministry and tells Harry and Hermione, that's is why Harry stops saying his name.

    • @NecramoniumVideo

Its not explained in the movies but Ron figured out that whenever they say his name Death Eaters would suddenly appear within minutes of them saying his name, the name was cursed so anyone (aka The Order or those that opposed Voldemort would've been the only ones that would actually use his name) that said Voldemort the curse would alert the Death Eaters to the location of whomever said it.
Side note: The movies did Ron dirty as a lot of his big moments (like explaining what a Mud Blood is or being the one to defend Harry from Sirius when they thought he was a villain) were given to Hermione to elevate her as "the smart one" in the films & made him the comic relief character.

To kind of answer your questions about Dumbledore's dad killing muggles, there is a whole backstory of the Dumbledore family in the books, and it does tie into current events but it is also an obvious choice of what you would cut from the movies. At the same time, it is important that Harry be given reasons to question Dumbledore's motives because Harry now has to choose between hunting the horcruxes (Dumbledore's directive) and pursuing the Deathly Hallows (which seems to be an obvious path to victory). So, the movie sneaks in little snippets to give Harry moments of doubt about Dumbledore, but I personally think they didn't do quite enough because I have seen so many people not get why it is included at all.

    1. yes hermione's parents had no memory of her existing anymore, she did it because she knew Voldemort would go after them to get to Harry. however the spell is reversible so once the war is over she can bring their memories back
    2. something that isn't explored in the films is why they have to leave the Dursleys when Harry turns 17 - the spell that Lily cast on Harry when she died for him was so powerful that it was also held by anyone who shared her blood (Aunt Petunia) so as long as Harry was at the Dursley's he was magically protected by Petunia's blood. that's why Dumbledore made Harry live with them and go back to them every summer even though they treated him so badly. but once Harry became an adult the protective spell would break so he was no longer safe there
    3. Sirius left all his belongings to Harry when he died and in the wizarding world that included the house elf Kreacher. even though Kreacher hates Harry and hated Sirius he has to obey his master so any instruction Harry gives him now he has to obey it. it doesn't matter whether he wants to do it or not
    4. Voldemort has put a curse on his name so that whenever it's said he instantly knows where that person is, he knows the only person brave enough to say his name is Harry so he did it to try to find him. thats how the death eaters found them so quickly in the cafe and in the woods. I can't remember exactly when the trio find out about the curse but they stop saying his name because of it
    5. (this isn't explained at all in the last movie so its not a spoiler, its only in the book) Dumbledore's father didn't kill 3 muggles, Dumbledore's little sister Ariana did. she was attacked as a child by the muggles after they caught her doing magic in her garden and she accidentally killed them so her father took the blame and her mother locked her away as she feared the power of her magic. Ariana's magic just got more and more out of control and she ended up accidentally killing her mother too. Dumbledore was supposed to look after her as the oldest child but he went out on adventures instead, leaving it to his brother Aberforth who was very resentful towards him for it. when Dumbledore returned with Grindelwald he and Aberforth ended up duelling because they were so angry with each other and Ariana got in the middle to try to stop them but ended up dying. Aberforth, Dumbledore and Grindelwald didn't know exactly whose spell had killed her but Dumbledore always blamed himself

Regarding number 5, in the book Dumbledore’s father did kill the Muggles. Ariana was little and they saw her through the fence doing magic. His mother was pureblood, his father an abusive muggle. Yes, the story of Dumbledore's father killing three muggle boys is true. In the book it's explained that three muggle boys were taunting and tormenting his very young daughter (Dumbledore's sister) trying to make her show them how she was doing the things they saw her doing, i.e. her magic. Their taunting and tormenting were so bad that she withdrew into herself and suppressed her magic until she 'went mad'.
1:13:54, That's why Harry, Ron, and Hermoine never said Voldemort's name. Voldemort put a curse/spell that if anyone said his name out loud it would immediately give away their position and the Deatheaters would know where to find them.

The Fantastic Beasts movies explain how Dumbledore gets the Elder Wand. Basically Dumbledore’s boyhood friend Gellert Grindelwald stole it from Gregorovitch, the wandmaker. Grindelwald was defeated by Dumbledore when they dueled in 1945 so Dumbledore earned the loyalty of the Elder Wand & took possession of it.
Remember in the first movie that Ollivander told Harry that the wand chooses the wizard. But a witch/wizard can also gain the loyalty of a wand by defeating its master. Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald & “won” the Elder Wand.
It’s customary to bury a wizard/witch with their wand. Most never lose the loyalty of their wands so when they die the power of their wand is broken since their true master is dead. Therefore they are buried with it.
Keep in mind that most of the magical community does not believe the Deathly Hallows are real. The story of The Three Brothers is considered a fairy tale or morality story for children & that’s why it was in the Tales of Beadle the Bard which is a children’s book. Beadle the Bard is the equivalent of the Brothers Grimm & we Muggles don’t go traipsing through the forest looking for the cottage of the Three Bears or the Wicked Witch’s Gingerbread House from the story of Hansel & Gretal.
Very excited to watch you reaction to the final movie & hear your thoughts about the whole story of Harry Potter.

Unfortunately the films don't show this but Snape is actually from the same small town in the English Midlands as Harry's mum, Lily, and her sister, Petunia (Harry's unpleasant aunt) and for a while observed them silently watching as Lily discovered her magical abilities. Because he, Snape, was a half-blood he was always aware of the magical community but Lily was a muggle-born, like Hermione, so she had no idea - Snape was actually the first person to tell her about the magical community. There's a reference in the Order of the Phoenix book to Snape but Harry doesn't understand it at the time - Petunia says she heard "that awful boy" telling "her" (Lily) about Dementors guarding Azkaban prison, years ago. Harry assumes Petunia is talking about his father, but she's actually talking about Severus Snape.

I would recommend the Harry Potter audiobooks. I think both of the readers (the UK and the US version) are supposed to be really good. My dad’s not a reader, but he loved the audiobooks.
Also, there’s lots of comments saying you should watch Fantastic Beasts to get the backstory on Dumbledore. I do NOT recommend the Fantastic Beasts movies (though I think the first one is fun), and I do not consider them Canon. You get backstory on Dumbledore in the books, and I think that’s enough.
I’m also not sure why so many people are saying Hermione found her parents and “undid” the Obliviate spell. Thats not possible. Obliviate is a permanent spell and cannot be undone. Lockhart did permanent damage to other witches/wizards to make himself famous, and then destroyed his own memory trying to attack kids. The MOVIES used Obliviate, but according to the interview everyone is talking about, Hermione used a memory altering charm (not Obliviate) that she was able to undo immediately after the war. Again, this is in an interview: the book itself never mentions Hermione giving her parents back their memories or what specific spell/charm she uses. The book says that she “modified her parent’s memories” and she does say that she’s never done Obliviate before when they’re in the cafe.

Justice for Kreacher! The films don't explain that Kreacher is bound to obey Harry, because Harry inherited Sirius's house, and therefore his house-elf. Once Harry starts treating Kreacher better, Kreacher actually begins to be nice to Ron and Hermione, too.

I appreciated this one as I got older. It really does stick out from the rest. For once, we don't see a thing of the school that's always been the setting. The kids are alone for the first time, outside of it.

59:09 the reason Harry doesn't say Voldemort's name anymore is because a curse was placed on Voldemort’s name during the events of Deathly Hallows. This curse allowed Death Eaters to instantly locate anyone who said his name, making it risky to do so. Interestingly, Mr. Ollivander, the wandmaker, also changed his habit and began using the term “the Dark Lord” after being freed from captivity in the Malfoy Manor. Perhaps his feelings shifted from fearful suppression to doubtless intimidation, especially considering his firsthand experience with Voldemort. I love your channel 💜

Kreacher is not being helpful. Sirius left the house to Harry on his death, and that includes ownership of Kreacher. Kreacher has no choice but to obey Harry. If it helps, neither likes the arrangement but Dumbledore warned Harry not to free Kreacher as the elf knew too much about the Order of the Phoenix.

Snape is complicated, but he is a villain daily at Hogwarts. He did a good thing for a selfish reason and I'm not sure that overcomes everything else.

The movie was not good at explaining this so a lot of people get this wrong in the next movie, the Resurrection stone does not bring people back to life, it only brings their spirit back to the living world, nothing can bring someone back to life, when you're dead, your dead.

That death eater backed off from Harry and Hagrid because Hedwig protecting him was confirmation that it was the real Harry. Death eaters were not allowed to kill Harry and summoned Voldemort instead.

Fun facts/answers to some of your questions:
Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2 were filmed back to back. Actually, the final scene of the franchise that was filmed was the scene where Harry, Ron and Hermione escape from the Ministry of Magic while being pursued by Yaxley the Death Eater. The shoot was followed by a celebratory BBQ, with music from a Mariachi band and ice cream supplied by Rupert Grint from the ice cream truck he purchased with his earnings from the films.
Before, people were scared of using Voldemort's name because they feared his power. The film doesn't make it clear, but in the 7th book Voldemort actually puts a jinx on his own name in order to trace any witch or wizard who uses it, because he knows that the trio, Dumbledore's Army and the Order are the only wizards who would dare speak his name out loud. Thus, whenever his name is spoken aloud, Death Eaters and Snatchers are alerted to their location.
Harry didn’t put a spell on the Dursleys, he had to convince them to leave for their own safety because Voldemort was after them. The film doesn't make the whole trace thing as clear as in the book. The real reason Harry had to stay with the Dursleys every summer was because when Lily sacrificed herself she invoked an ancient and powerful spell in which her blood served as protection for Harry against Voldemort through aunt Petunia. As Lily's sister, Petunia is Harry's closest living blood relative and he was protected as long as he stayed where she stayed until the age of 17. Also, the trace regarding Voldemort's name is a seperate thing.
Each wand is unique and has a special connection with its owner. The wand chooses the wizard and a wand that belongs to someone else will never work quite right for anyone who's not its rightful owner. Remember in the first film when Ollivander says to Harry that the core of his wand was made from a feather of the same phoenix as Voldemort's (more specifically Dumbledore's phoenix aka Fawkes)? It created a strong connection between them and they are, in a way, twins, which is why they aren't able to seriously wound or kill each other. Also, when Voldemort tried to attack Harry with Lucius' wand (he was really there), Harry’s wand recognised him as an enemy and overpowered him because it absorbed some of the power of Voldy's wand when they duelled in GoF.
Bill Weasley was bit by Fenrir Greyback (same werewolf who bit Lupin) during a battle at Hogwarts that took place in the 6th book after Dumbledore died, which was cut from the film. However, Bill did not turn into a werewolf because it wasn't a full moon when he was attacked. But he did develop some wolfish tendencies such as liking rare meat. Bill is played by Domhnall Gleeson, son of Brendan Gleeson who plays Mad-Eye Moody. The book mentions that after being attacked, Bill is so scarred that he now resembles Moody. Also, Domhnall Gleeson and Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour, the new Minister of Magic that comes to tell the trio about Dumbledore's will) played father and son in a movie called About Time, with Rachel McAdams and Margot Robbie.
At the end of CoS, Harry makes Dobby promise never to save his life again. Dobby breaks that promise as he literally dies saving his and his friends' lives. Also, Dobby's first and last lines are "Harry Potter". He and Hedwig were both so innocent 💔
It broke Hermione to erase her parents' memories of her (that's why she was so emotional when she had to do that spell again) but she HAD TO to keep them safe from Voldemort.
Lucius is terrified of Voldemort because he failed him with the diary, the prophecy and then Draco failed to kill Dumbledore (which was to punish Lucius).
Just as Tom Riddle split his soul in 7 parts through horcruxes to preserve his life, Harry Potter "split" into 7 "bodies" to preserve his life (though it wasn't his idea).
Harry inherited Grimmauld Place (Sirius' childhood home and Order headquarters) and Kreacher the house elf after Sirius' death, so Harry is technically his master.
Nagini, disguised as Bathilda Bagshot, asks Harry if he is who she thinks he is and he confirms. In the book, he doesn't even realise she is speaking to him in Parseltongue (just like he didn't realise he was speaking it in CoS).
The locket affects Ron the most because he is the most insecure. The things it is saying about him before destroying it is just Voldemort feeding on his biggest fears.
The reason the sword is in the pond is because, as Dumbledore said in CoS: It takes a true act of bravery, a true Gryffindor to make it appear.
Snape IS half-blood and his mother's maiden name was Prince, hence where he got the name Half-Blood Prince.
Umbridge has Mad-Eye's magical eye on her door at the ministry.
Not so fun fact: David Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe's stunt-double, was seriously injured on set. He became partially paralysed, with only limited mobility in his arms.
    Book/film differences:
There's a deleted scene of Harry's goodbye with the Dursleys, who are leaving, which EVERYONE agrees should have been kept in the film. Petunia says to Harry "You didn't just lose a mother that night in Godric's Hollow. I lost a sister" (in the book she doesn't say this at all but instead a simple goodbye, though it looks like she has something else to say to him). In that one single moment we see more humanity than in all the other books/films, and we realise that, in spite of everything, Petunia loved Lily. While it doesn't excuse how she treated Harry it does show that a part of her loved her sister and therefore she loved Harry too. Then there's Vernon who doesn't say much but farewell, but when Harry says "I'm just a waste of space, isn't that right Vernon?" he doesn't answer and just looks at him. Lastly, Dudley hesitates getting in the car and then walks over to Harry while literally staring down his father (quite awkwardly but maybe that was intentional), reaches out to shake Harry's hand and says to him "I don't think you're a waste of space" (in the book he also thanks Harry for saving his life in OotP and says "See you, Harry"). See here: ruclips.net/video/jzkDRz8quKo/видео.htmlsi=XTkrSPP6vuXPYO7a.
Now, the way dementors work is they force their victims to suffer their worst memories and fears. Dudley saw his worst fear which was seeing who he truly was: a spoiled brat and a bully. After Harry saved him he realised he needed to change his ways. There is also a scene where Harry steps on a cup of tea that was left outside his door. He assumes it was a prank but it's implied Dudley left it there out of concern.
The Harry and Hermione dancing scene was not in the book. Everyone has their own interpretation but to me it's just two friends letting themselves forget for a few minutes. It says so much even without any dialogue and it's awkward because it feels so real. When Harry takes the locket off Hermione's neck and sets it aside, they are literally setting their burdens aside for one moment. This scene is the embodiment of Dumbledore's quote from Prisoner of Azkaban - "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light".
Some people say film Ron and Hermione aren't as good as book Ron and Hermione but I disagree. Emma and Rupert had plenty of chemistry but Emma also had crazy chemistry with Dan. While he and Bonnie Wright, who plays Ginny, had none whatsoever. Hell, Harry had more chemistry with Luna than Ginny. But I personally love that Harry and Hermione's relationship was simply platonic throughout the series. There is something so pure about it.
Having Bellatrix carve "mudblood" into Hermione's arm during the torture scene was not in the book or the original script. Emma Watson and Helena Bonham Carter came up with the idea together on the spur of the moment during filming. Also, Evanna Lynch made up the dance Luna did with her dad during Bill’s and Fleur’s wedding.
The relationship between Tonks and Lupin is further explored in the book. They reveal that they are married and later that Tonks is pregnant. When Lupin appears to have an existential crisis and plans to abandon his wife and unborn child, Harry stops him. Later, when their son Teddy is born, Lupin is thrilled and asks Harry to be his godfather.
In the book, the Death Eaters recognised the real Harry because he used Expelliarmus, the disarming spell (which is his "signature spell"), not because of Hedwig.
When Harry and Hermione visit Godric's Hollow they actually do visit as different people using Polyjuice Potion.
In the book, Peter Pettigrew dies after being compelled to strangle himself with the silver hand from Voldemort.

Dobby's death was so much more heartbreaking in the books, because he played a much larger role in the story in the books. He has massive character development. I can't forgive the movies for diminishing his role, and that of the other house elves too, btw, the way they did. I know things need to be cut in adaptations, but they added quite a lot of unnecessary fluff and cut things that were meaningful to the story progression. A real shame.

After watching reactions to this movie, I finally got it. So many reactors, including you two, wonder why Dumbledore didn't just give Harry his wand. One reason will be explained in the next half of Deathly Hallows. Another reason, it seems to me, is that having a powerful wand does not guarantee success in one's quest. Consider what happened to the brother who got the wand from Death in the first place. And this movie does end sort of the middle of the 7th book (which is why I see these two movies as one story). BTW: In the book, just about this point in the story, Harry struggles between pursuing the Deathly Hallows rather than the Horcruxes. I think the phrase "Hallows or Horcruxes?" is in the book somewhere. Until he re-focuses on the Horcruxes, he can never succeed in his quest. BTW: You need to watch the "Fantastic Beasts" series when you finish with HP (the 20th Anniversary Special) and more of your questions will be answered.

In the book, Voldemort put a curse on his Name: whoever said it, mostly people like Harry and other Phoenix Order Members would be trackable and all protective enchantments would be lifted. That's how the Death Eaters found them in the diner, and how the snatchers found them in the book.
