  • In this video, I show you how I install the GGM tire carrier on my 80 series land cruiser. Really easy bolt-on. 91-92 landcruisers will have a little more cutting and drilling. But other than that, completely bolt on.

    Great break down, and recommendations in the vid! Installed mine at the beginning of the month onto an LX450. The center latch mount on over the OEM pintle mount was a little chalk for me as the LX450 has a body panel over that area. Everything else was “figure-outtable” but the provided directions could use some enhancements that I plan on recommending directly to GGM.

    • @CruisinMiles

    You can get an entire bumper w tire mount fit not much more. Would rather have an entire bumper w options of Jerry can holder and side protection. A bumper also gives you more clearance and protection.

    • @CruisinMiles
      @CruisinMiles  2 года назад +1

      For not much more yes, but a full bumper isn’t always the answer. When weight is a major factor to someone’s build, a full rear bumper is definitely something to consider. In terms of clearance, the rears of the 80 series have pretty substantial clearance already. Yes, protection is a huge thing to consider, but considering how a full rear bumper would pretty much be fabricated into the frame, it’s very common for people to remove the plastic bumper ends and fabricate their own protective pieces into those spots. A solution that would fit the weight consideration, as well as clearance and protection. You made good points, but they’re simple not always the best answer.

  • @cadoodle6522
    @cadoodle6522 14 дней назад +1

    I think this is a great idea. I really want one. But I don’t think it’s a reasonable price point. If you are going to spend over $1000 why not buy a full bumper. This is just essentially a swing out not providing extra protection so I would think you should spend $1000 on a protected bumper vs this just provides a swing out. I was looking for something like this and really considering it but I just don’t agree with the 1k price point. I love the videos though, I am going to subscribe.

    • @CruisinMiles
      @CruisinMiles  Год назад

      I personally love the white. I’ve always wanted a white 80 series. Something about the body lines look so good on white. When it’s time for me to repaint, I’m having mine redone in white. Now as for green, my 75 Toyota celica is green. And I love the way that color sits on that car. So I absolutely love both colors. But for the 80 series, my personal choice is white. I have seen amazing looking green 80 series though.

    I noticed that you didn’t reinstall your hitch. Now I know why-I’m installing my GGM carrier now and it requires that it be mounted where the hitch also mounts. Wasn’t anticipating this. I’m
    Going to have to figure out a way to mount a receiver hitch after the GGM carrier is installed. This just turned into a bit more of a project than I had planned for.

    • @CruisinMiles
      @CruisinMiles  2 года назад +1

      You can actually reinstall your hitch. You might need longer bolts though. But I can work. I need to find the picture online of someone who did it. I just didn’t reinstall mine because I was too busy recording the video

      One thing that might be helpful for viewers to realize is that for Landcruisers, the bumper extension brackets don’t need to be cut like you did. Matt’s LX450 has a different configuration, which is why he had to cut some of his bracket (in the GGM installation instructions). I cut mine as you did and then realized by doing so I had removed some mounting points for the plastic bumper extension and got to wondering if maybe I could have left more of the bracket in tact. Luckily I had another bracket so I test fitted it with the spindle mounted and wa-la: it fit. So I ended up using the uncut bracket.
