Venice Safe Team Intervenes in Makeshift Tiny Home as Part of Homeless Outreach Effort

- On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, security officers from the Venice Safe Team responded to a call regarding a homeless individual camping in a makeshift tiny home on Sunset Avenue in Venice. The officers informed the man that he needed to vacate the area within 15 minutes and assured him that they would return to confirm his departure. The individual's makeshift tiny home consisted of a shopping cart with a tent-like covering serving as the roof. He was lying inside the cart when the officers arrived.
This intervention is part of the team's broader efforts to uphold safety and maintain order in the Venice Beach area, known for its eclectic mix of cultures and bustling atmosphere. Operating daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. during the winter season, the Venice Safe Team conducts routine patrols, interacts with the public, and addresses various safety concerns. In collaboration with local law enforcement and emergency services, the team tackles issues like trespassing, public intoxication, aggressive behavior, and vandalism, ensuring compliance with city regulations while safeguarding the well-being of visitors and residents alike.
