Piston/ cylinder/ ring kits are cheap for most of these chop saws. I just got a husqvarna 3120K 120cc saw and replaced the piston,cylinder/rings & head gasket and now this saw runs perfect. I put an mk diamond tiger tooth 16" all cut blade on it and now this saw is an absolute beast and it cuts everything fast with no stuttering.
Yeah, this guy is a pro but the whole replacement is less than $100 on Amazon(head, piston, ring, pins) the machine is $1200 absolutely rebuild the engine is the best. But I believe this guy charge $500 for that.
3 out of 4 (quick cuts as we call them in Australia) saws that come into the shop I work at are all scored. I have found with those flat belts on the husky they get over tightened and flog out the crank bearing, seal and in extreme cases elongate the crank case and wear out around the Bearing. and sometimes they blow out the crank case gaskets
Hey Daniel, any idea why a demo saw would start easily but won't stay going for long? Cleaned filter, spark looks fine and I ran it without the filter and sprayed some carby cleaner and it still won't stay going
@@Adam-ux3rq the husqvarna has an oil guard. if it senses u arent using husqvarna own oil it will cut out after 15 seconds or just tick over and never rev. there are tips online about disabling this feature, might be worth a try b4 u buy any parts
I work on Stihls for a living and this is what we typically see out of these machines. These chop saws are subject to some of the worst conditions and the companies around here take the worst care of them. VERY rarely replace filters, bang them around, etc. I'd say at least 50% of the ones that come through our shops doors have to either be rebuilt or replaced. And those Stihl saws aren't cheap either!
Those concrete saws have the worst job imaginable dealing with some abrasive dust. It would take a filter clean after each use, and even then I don't know if it would extend their life all that much anyway. Thanks, Dony!!
I had 3 of those come in my shop last fall. 1 was trashed and was a part saw. I got one to work and it is powerful. I love the Husky brand..................
Parts must be very expensive in Canada ? Here in Ireland I purchased a piston and pot for a K770 which is the same as a K760 for €150 euro (approx $215) and that was OE parts direct from Husqvarna. A replacement K770 is €860 (approx $1225) so big saving.
Donny can you clarify about air filter. did the dust go though the filter, did it over heat from the filter, how did it get air if clogged? I want to know the relationship between clogged filter and damaged piston. thank you for your help
That fine just just gets through everything because when I used to repair electric & brick concrete saws we couldn't even use never seez on the threads of the spindle the cutting blade is attached to because the talcum powder fine dust would works its way into the threads & the cutting blade flange nut would actually seize onto the threaded part of the spindle. So, the never seez paste would actually make that problem worse !!!! It was like when my boss bought the company my manager got upset when they ordered ZZ type ball bearings which were only shielded instead of the 2RS ball bearings with the black seal on them because the ZZ bearings would fail prematurely if the power tool was used in a smash repair shop or on a building site by a bricklayer or builder for example. The best you could do with a concrete saw is to replace the air filter as much as possible but I have a feeling that dust will still get through that somehow !!!!
also could you share a story were a small carb like walbro or zama is rebuild but won't work you say is defected, maybe you can show us how it worked when it was new and now it would be defect, an example like this wood be helpful when trying to diagnose a carb issue. thanks again for your help.

Blake robby A lot of times the culprit there is a coil going bad. Some people think that a coil is either good or bad. I have found that not to be the situation. If you have a spark tester, check for spark as soon as it quits running. If you do not have one, you can get one at your local automotive store. I prefer the in-line testers for most applications. Also, make sure that your carburetor is free of debris and water. It may run for a few minutes, and then suck up something bad into the carburetor. After it sets for a few minutes, the debris or water settles. Then, it will run and repeat the process. I hope that this helps.
Typical of companies. The employees don't care because the equipment doesn't belong to them, they're not the ones having to buy that new equipment, so the equipment gets thrown around, abused, not taken care of, etc. Maybe if the cost of repair/replacement came out of their paychecks they'd possibly take better care of the equipment.

Add to that the labor and the time that it would take to order and receive those parts, it is most often easier and more efficient to purchase a new piece.
