Thank you so much for uploading this. As an American it's so wonderful to see Jeopardy from other countries. Even the commercials were nice to see. Sending greetings to Australia!
I’ve never seen an Australian version of Jeopardy until now even though it began already in progress. What I mean by that is when you tune in the program already began.
I believe that Venetia Scott is one of only three female announcers in the Jeopardy! franchise around the world. The others were Loretta Fox (Rock & Roll Jeopardy!} and Kelly Miyahara (Sports Jeopardy!).
I never knew there was "Jeopardy!" in Kangaroo-land. Thanks for posting it. Amazing how well those Aussies did on a category about a U.S. President. I doubt that any American could name a Aussie political leader. Hope that you can post some more episodes of Aussie Jeopardy! P.S. I just noticed that "Pizza Hut' and "Sizzler Steakhouse" are in Australia also via the commercials. Had no idea.
Sizzler, alas, closed here in 2020, but probably hit its peak about the time of this video. Pizza Hut's still going obviously, but a bit of an alsoran here; the local franchise of Domino's ate their lunch over the past couple decades. Jeopardy!'s supposed to return briefly to our screens here at some point, but as a special of the recent UK (Stephen Fry) version, involving Aussie expats - so it only half-counts.
@@Spi-AU Thanks for the reply. P.S. - Served a couple of Aussies when I was working as a Baker at a Safeway Grocery Store in Valdez, Alaska. They were working for the / at the oil company terminal facility across the bay. Very distinctive accent.
Looks like it was edited for time - Australian 80s/90s game shows liked to run right up to the last few seconds like this did - I do agree it looked odd though
17:25 - pretty lenient, he gave his Everest response "What is BECAUSE IT WAS THERE?" a pass. In the USA, they didn't give a puzzle to somebody on Wheel of Fortune who said "The Empire State Building" instead of "Empire State Building" and I've seen Jeopardy responses disqualified due to an extra syllable or such...
Wheel at least is known for being very particular about solving a puzzle with what's on the board and nothing more. They doubly remind people on those new Crossword-type puzzles because it's very easy to add extra words to it if you're not careful. Jeopardy... there is room for adjucation - but given it's a famous quote, I imagine it likely wouldn't get a tick in the modern day US game, especially in the Double round.
It’s weird to me that all the way in Australia, there would be a category for a US president. But I don’t believe American jeopardy would make a category for any Australian politicians
I mean, you couldn't do it for every former president (even given how important US foreign policy is to us). But JFK would have been well-known for the type of person playing this in the early 90s - what with the space race, the assassination and conspiracies etc. None of those questions strike me as too odd. If you asked that 30 years later you might get some stares beyond the name recognition.
Tony Barber. Was probably most well known here for hosting Sale of the Century in the 80s, and a number of shows including Sale's local pseudo-predecessor (Great Temptation) in the 70s.
I like the current version two single jeopardy rounds and a double jeopardy rounds that way the players catch up I don’t mind Stephen Fry hosting I find it fun watching

The old commercials are so interesting
As an American, I grew up watching this show, with Alex Trebek as the host. RIP Alex.
As an American as well, Jeopardy just isn't the same without him. May he rest in peace.
They really matched the format of the American show, right down to the host's sense of humor. Just perfect. RIP Alex Trebek
You may win Jeopardy, but "You won't beat Grech"
There sure are a lot of U.S.-based questions in this edition.
I love the think music like its sooo good

GREAT GAME AND A JOB WELL DONE!
Irish category gets cleared.
Next clue, Bookish category.... about an Irish author writing a book in Dublin 😅
Aussie t.v, how cool!!
He's like an Australian Alex Trebek it's hysterical
2:47 I know he probably said something else, but I could of sworn he said something else. 😂

Nice to know! Thanks for the cool piece of trivia!
I enjoyed that.

Wait, they're like "you got it wrong, no one else gets to answer, let's move on!"
Great. Did anyone else catch Maria’s F-Bomb at the end?
The australian version of Jeopardy! was not bad at all but unfortunately, it cancelled too soon.
16:20 The other two contestants inexplicably were not allowed to respond.
They must have edited out the moment of silence.

Is that Natalie Imbruglia in that Neighbours commercial?
Bring more asap
Sorry, I don't have any more. I took this from DailyMotion but I don't think they have more episodes.

well that was fun and cringworthy.
Who presented this version of jeopardy!
Tony Barber. Was probably most well known here for hosting Sale of the Century in the 80s, and a number of shows including Sale's local pseudo-predecessor (Great Temptation) in the 70s.
26:21
Final Jeopardy is that timestamp.
1:25
Interesting that the current version of the show has lower clue values than this version.
Oh and Tony Barber is a much better host than Stephen Fry
I like the current version two single jeopardy rounds and a double jeopardy rounds that way the players catch up I don’t mind Stephen Fry hosting I find it fun watching
Wish is 50 to 250 in the jeopardy round & 100 to 500 in the double jeopardy round
