To connect a Coinbase wallet to a Ledger Nano X or Ledger Nano S, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Connect your Ledger device to your computer and open the Ledger Live application.
2. Go to the Manager section in Ledger Live and install the Ethereum app on your Ledger device.
3. In Coinbase, go to the Accounts page and select the Ethereum wallet that you want to connect to your Ledger.
4. Click on the "Receive" button and you will see your Ethereum address.
5. Open the Ethereum app on your Ledger device and select "Ethereum" from the list of available coins.
6. On your computer, copy the Ethereum address from Coinbase and paste it into the "Receive" field on the Ledger Live app.
7. Confirm the address on your Ledger device by pressing the right button.
8. In Coinbase, send a small amount of Ethereum to the address you just added to your Ledger device to confirm that the connection is working.
9. Once the transaction is confirmed on the Ethereum blockchain, the Ethereum will appear in the Ethereum app on your Ledger device and you can check the balance by opening the Ethereum app on your Ledger and checking the balance.
It's worth noting that you should always make sure to double-check the address before sending any funds and to keep your recovery phrase safe and secure. Additionally, you should always keep your Ledger firmware updated to the latest version for security reasons.

So if I attach my ledger nano s to Coinbase does this mean I have to attach it every time even just to look at my portfolio and more important. If my ledger nano s is connected to Coinbase, Who owns my keys Coinbase or myself?
It stays attached unless you log out. With Ledger you always control your keys. You will need to connect to make a transaction.
