For those watching after the update that added the blue circle radius, simply move every plantation back one square away from the palace and rotate the three plantations closest to the palace so that the other 6 are within the circles radius.
One thing you may have overlooked is increasing the budget for the teamsters. I'm loving this series. Keep 'em coming.
I recently purchased Tropico 6 I must confess I was totally lost; thanks to your "Unlocking the Secrets" series I was rescued. I used your guide and now I am so hooked on this game and my experience is a pleasure. I used your method of plantation placement as a starting point for many pleasurable hours of fun and made a few changes that seemed to work for me...thank you for all your hard work and Viva La Tropico!
I think this is the best and most challenging tropico yet. They even balanced it better since this video was made. It really takes a lot to make a bunch of islands run smooth now, specially once the amount of people exceed 2000 , if the transportation and availability of needs isn't there you'll have a mess where people travel across the whole map just to get to work or to go to that one doctor that still has room.
Next to playing all the scenarios, please a sandbox playthrough. Can’t wait for Skye’s paradise island!
Need to get that housing in for the 100+ people you brought in. Now that you have your cash cow producing this should be a fun play thru.
I love the way you learn the technical workings of games and then take advantage of them and show us!!

I did all sorts of tutorials and search every tips that I can find in the internet and this is the most helpful video ever. I am now able to understand the game more and play continiously without "Game Over" Lol.
You can see the Efficiency in the first tab. You don’t have to click on the 4. tab all time. :) Great video.

Thank you! Tropico 6 is my first city sim, and I really want to love it, but I was struggling to learn all these mechanics at once. Logistics and macro budgeting really is a whole different language.
Just a little tip if you hold control and click on the unconstructed building it will quick build it

you should stick the pirate cove in a little natural harbor area, that way you can have a pirate bay!
One more secret for you: R to build roads, R again to switch to demolish roads :)

That arrangement allows those 2 sideways to get 6 bonuses. Make the 2 the same if you want to make one industry killer.

I tried doing your setup again , but couldn't get the plantations score as high as you did 4 years ago. I thinking they changed something. And I couldn't get 100% for smuggling exports
Did they change the radius of effect of the plantations after the final release came out? I can't get it to work like this, the areas of effect of the plantations don't overlap in the same way.

This was possible in T5 as well. My problem has always been in the WW era to deal with the damn uprisings and just general loyalty
Use pent geometry to optimize distribution (resources teamsters traffic beauty) and hex to isolate (pollution privacy etc) also looks beautiful than striaght line grids
You can make your farms even more efficient by making them as small as possible in a box configuration around a ranch. The actual size of the fields does not matter so much as the efficiency. Just two of these hypersquares can supply a factory for every type. In the colonial era, they will let you meet every crown export mission, letting you play perpetually to build up millions before advancing to the next era.

just thinking instead of the supreme palace being right at the entrance of the island, the hill opposite the farms could be a well-developed government region instead with a beautiful scenic ocean view suitable only for El Presidente and a select rich few.

This plantations angle is a really interesting strategy -- I mean, it's totally batshit! But intriguing with possibility! Excited, I tried this on 2 different maps last night. On the maps I chose, I was unable to get the 9-block. I found enough room for 2 long rows (4 or 5 plantations down), but then that rich green was right next to a total wasteland for nearly all crops right next to it. I wonder if it takes a very special map to make this work - or, did I experience just bad luck with 2 particularly bad maps for it? I'm intrigued enough to try further.
In my brief tries, I never got out of the Colonial Era. My initial impression was that the mega farms I had were not the equivalent of Rum Distillery as the initial money maker. I think the real potential of this heavy agriculture is in the longer game, though, establishing both the base resources for a lot of manufacturing later -- AND having the freedom that it gives that no matter what trade licenses are offered, you've probably got some commodity to meet the demand.
I like the plantations, and I'll keep playing with this!
Not a fan of the wild beauty designs, though - just not a piece of the game that appeals to me at all... OTOH, my tourism ratings are usually not great, so maybe this is another experiment I should run and see how it goes!
You can turn the second tobacco plantation by 90 degrees to regain some of its land.
Thanks for this video! Just tried it and I have many plantations making me loads of cash :) The only trouble is I can't build enough Teamster Offices to move it all!...not a bad problem to have though.

So after starting with this setup, I am almost in the Coldwar Era now and still making lots of cash! This makes a huge difference.

P.S. You should build the teamsters near residential areas, taht way your... subjects, can easily acces their trucks and move stuff more efficiently. As in they walk 5 squres titheir job not 50, then all the way to where their are making pick ups and deliveries
I've not played a Tropico game since Tropico 2 but watching you play this has given me a hankering to become the Dictator of a small Island Chain again so ofc i will have to buy when it releases in January but in the mean time what would you recommend getting tropico 4 or 5?
Tropico 5 but u mine as well late for 6 because it looks like a way better version than 5. 6 is a upgraded version of 5 just like 5 is a upgraded version of 4

For anyone playing, worrying about budgeting is irrelevant. If you create and set up ALL the possible industries early on before you go to the World War era AND max out the budgets for all industry buildings like Plantations, Ranches, Logging Camps etc, you will be 100% ok. Trying to focus on being selective with the budget is a huge waste of time. If your island is built where the teamsters can transport things to and from the docks then you will make far more than you spend on the max budgets AND you’ll have much richer and happier people going forward into future eras. Dont be cheap. Just trust the process.
