  • Folks in this video we are going to unbox my very first purchase of 1/43 scale, or any scale, of Formula 1 cars from 3 sellers on Ebay.
First, I bought six of these cars, Bburago, for just 35.00 and free shipping. You can do this as well on Ebay. This video will tell you how you can do it.
Second, I wanted to show you examples of professional packaging and shipping from 3 different sellers and the incredible value that I found. WHY, because many RUclips reviewers bitch about purchasing from Ebay. I have made hundreds of model car purchases from Ebay. Of that only two problems. One shipped me a badly damaged Spark in a bag. He refunded the purchase, and I was able to fix the car. The other was from a seller in India of whom never delivered. Ebay refunded my money. No problem.
And 3rd because I'm now dipping into the Formula 1 model car arena. I'm going to be out of my depth on this as I have never been to a race. and know little about the cars. Lots of research to be done. But I do however know model cars and will deliver to you somewhat unbiased reviews.

I never bough off eBay. I buy my cars from online retailers. I only have 1 formula 1 car in my collection. It's Fernando Alonso car Aston Martin #14 from the Bahrain GP 1/18 scale made by Spark.

Joseph, most of the US collectors that I know well do must purchases off Ebay. Good deals can be found, and Ebay guarantees that sellers deliver or get your money back. As I mentioned, I've bought from sellers from USA, Europe and Asia. Even Australia and have had only a couple of issues. Congratulations on your Aston Martin. I've got one of those on my wish list. Thanks for watching.

Worst packaging I have ever received was just the retail box wrapped in a few layers of plastic wrap with the address label slapped on it. That was a bit surprising 😂

What was worse about mine that it came from Australia to Virginia. Insane. I also forgot about a third of which was a Fujimi Ferrari of which the entire cockpit was loose and rolled around. It was tricky repairing it without doing damage. Seller swore it was new and was caught in the lie. Refunded me half of the sales price and we wrote it off as even. Thanks for sharing.

@@markzebr6463 Indeed! I somewhat collect F1 cars. However, they’re all Bburago in 1/43. I only have about 8 F1 cars in 1/64. I don’t have experience with Minichamps F1s. I do have a Minichamps 1/43 (#4) and 1/18 (#5) Audi 90 Quattro, which are outstanding to me. They’re great pieces of artwork.

You know, it's interesting in that how many viewers do F1 even more so than sports cars. Here in the US, we get one F1 date, usually in Texas with tickets that are almost impossible to get unless you get them from scalpers. I hate sports where it is all about the drivers, Nascar, Indy and F1. However, Netflix kind of turned me on to F1. So what the hell. It looks like players are much like sports cars. Lookmart, Spark, Mini Champs, IXO and Bburago. It should be interesting.

A quick note whilst I got the point where you're referring to packaging. The best packaging I have seen so far has been the two packages I have received from Japan via Zenmarket. The initial package with 6 models and a subsequent package with a further 8 models. All the models were in great condition, had been individually placed into sealed clear wrapping before then being bubble wrapped and placed firmly inside the box. I do collect a number of Japanese models so you might not find as much to your liking on there (although my recent package did contain a 1960 NASCAR and an awesome Greenwood C3 Corvette) but I would say to take a look.

Steve, all of the cars that I have looked out from Japanese sellers are way overpriced. Never bought one and never will. I just don't understand why Japanese sellers are so un-competitive. It's very easy to see on Ebay. I have seen a lot of RUclips videos with reviewers complaining about Ebay. I don't get it. I've found hundreds of great bargains with overall sales price lower than retail and have have had very few issues. Good to hear from you again, look forward to your next video.

Steve. I have never purchased a single model from any Japanese seller on eBay because their prices have never been competitive, in fact most exceeded retail by significant margins. I could never understand how they could be so uncompetitive in a format where anybody with could simply buy from a l more competitive seller. I have purchased quite a few models from China and Hong Kong. It may be an eBay thing as I suspect that many Europeans dont use eBay. This I cant understand as I buy from quite a few sellers in Europe through eBay?

@@markzebr6463 it's a proxy bidder service (I think that's the term), that will bid an amount you choose on your behalf on items in Japan. I've had 14 models so far, averaging at around £32 each after all costs. I think all of these would have been much more if I'd tried to purchase them locally.

Oh dear Verstappen - F1's fastest toddler lol. Jokes aside (not a Verstappen fan at all), that's probably some decals below the model - Spark often will not add certain logos to the cars. These days, it's often e-cigarette companies. What made you start collecting F1? The Bburago models are okay - the most recent models come in better cases and you actually have the slightly more expensive versions there as they include the driver model - the cheapest have no driver and often don't have a number, meaning you'd purchase decals separately. If you put a Spark side by side with a Bburago, you'll see a big different but they don't look too bad on a shelf. I had the 2022 Ferrari by Bburago but I decided in the end that I will not be keeping it as it seemed slightly out of scale with the 2022 Mercedes and 2021 McLaren that I have from Spark.

The practice of removing logos from models or just not release models with certain logos on them is annoying. I doubt most people these days even know what JPS stands for. Sometimes these decals are included or you can purchase stickers separately and add them yourself but it doesn't look as good.

You are dead on. Tried for years not to dabble in F1 because it's too much like Nascar ie. Driver worship and annoying fans. If you become driver focused and your man crashes out, it spoils the event. Had enough of that. Never been to a race and likely never will. Only one date in the US and I am told it sells out in minutes. Cars are rockets on wheels, not my kind of thing. I hate the looks of Indy Cars and, have been to races. Paddock Access at Indy costs extra, not gonna pay for that....IMSA has me spoiled. I went to a Fanatec GT Challenge in Nashville, had no idea that it was a support race for Indy Cars. Back when I went to Nascar races, Indy cars were support races and my current employer was a sponsor.
I knew that the Bburago would be cheap, they were..literally but 6 cars for 35.00 USD was too good to ignore, like cheap sex..Just kidding. They actually look much better than their sports car counterparts. Base and box are cheesy cardboard. The two Sparks look amazing, as expected. Think I'm going to avoid the Mini Champs, particularly ones with the checkered flag bases of which look cheap and distract from the car. There is one however that I may buy. All in all a pretty good day.

Right about that as well. I have Spark Jaguar of which as some decals to apply, have not done it and don't want to. The things under the Red Bull are a pit board and a leader board. They are to fill the space on that huge base. Got quite a deal on it, really like as I was afraid. More cars to buy. I'm an addict.
