    This is the second and confirming side by side video I've watched that shows that the Kab is more brittle, in your face and introduces more string noise to the tone as compared to a real tube amp. Thanks for taking the time to do the video. Nice vibrato technique you have there as well.

    As I wrote on the forum, try messing with the Directivity control in the Kemper Kone settings. Also, Andy from The Amp Factory profiles amps through outboard EQ and compressors for colour, which will take the profiles further away from the amp in the room experience. Try profiling your amp with your settings; a simple SM57 will do it. Then compare them :)

      Good points. I am also thinking that maybe I should profile using a line out with no speaker or mic.

      @sambroxguitar 3 года назад

      @@GuitarStuffChannel just remember to set that you are profiling without a cab (unless it has a simulated output). If it has no simulated cab and you select that option when profiling, you’ll have to add a Cab to the profile to enable FRFR mode without horrible scratchy treble (long press the Cab button and use the browse knob to scroll to select a suitable Cab. Do NOT press Merge!).

      Both sound sweet! Like you said the Kemper at the push of a button will sound like a Marshall or a Vox etc etc where as the real thing won't. I'd say play the real thing but if you don't have 50 other real things, then I'd say the Kempers well worth the versatility. I totally get preferring the organic sound of the real thing and ofcourse the real thing won't ever have a software crash and will as well have much better longevity. Some people who use them to perform with regularly become so reliant on them that they feel inclined to have a back up. Not cheap... But as far as just down right cool, I'd say the Kemper is about as good as it gets for the time being. Give this technology 10 more years and then it will be interesting to see improvements!

    Well, I received mine today and love it. Not sure if it's a sensible idea to compare accuracy or "feel" of the tone delivered by the commercial profile you mentioned. Tones of amplifiers built with the same production process and even as part of the same production batch often differ between each other. They're often more or less unique and I guess that's the beauty of it. Comparing someone's profile (even or perhaps especially if it's a commercial one) with your particular amp and expecting the two to sound the same is IMO a very bad idea. Could you perhaps create your own profile, refine it a bit and see how this compares instead.

      Great point. I was probably in too much of a rush to play with the kabinet when it arrived. When I get some time I might just do that.

      @@GuitarStuffChannel did you keep it? I think theampfactory makes veeery nice profiles for strat + kab. Marshally : bogner goldfinger pushed from pack 2, Reinhardt storm 33 clean+, Fendery : tk imperial clean and clean+ from pack 1 (not the one on pack 10) Other: 2rock jet (the various other 2rock packs also sound good but it's not always well eq-ed for my taste), Carol Ann ods (pack 1 also), morgan from first packs. You eventually need To remove the eq block, the compressor block and noise gate. I dont really use the imprints, I think frfr mode sounds great. Also I uncheck "space : headphones only in output and put 3.3 as space parameter, and andy mentionned it somewhere on his website.

    Honest review, yep it sounds thinner and not 3D as the real amp... I have kemper too, and it sounds great but the real valve amp is the real deal so are the speaker cabinets...

  • @vlado19651
    @vlado19651 3 года назад +3

    Hi.I don't understand why you didn't put the Kemper Cabinet vertically right next to the Tone King. Placing the boxes so differently makes the whole comparison unusable. If two identical Tone King amplifiers stood like that the result would also be very different. The tilted speaker will lose bass and the sound from it will be sharper overall. Sorry, but the only result of a comparison like this is that it misleads people.... Regards.

      Hi Vladimir, you make some good points. The video was originally made for me to give some opinions, but then I ended up putting the amps side by side. So you are right, this isn't a real 'comparison' video, more just some food for thought for people.

    Bought one today as I expect it will be better than FRFR ultimately and closer to the amp feel especially live. That's my hope

    Many thanks for your video, couldn’t it be a question of high cut with the Profiler? What if we cut high from 5/6000 kHz to avoid those high & harsh frequencies? Maybe finding too a frequency too resonant and putting it at -3 or -5db? Musically Philippe

      Hi Philippe, thanks for your thoughtful comment. There is a LOT of tone changing possibilities with this setup so for sure with more adjustments any player could get what they want.

    Can you give a follow up after trying setting Directivity to full on? (10) Or maybe some other settings other than on 0. That control had a HUGE impact on things for me.

    Thats a very useful review - thank you for posting. Very usable tones indeed - very musical. We all have fun chasing "the" tone!
    Question @guitarstuff - how quietly can you play with the powered kabinett? Usual bedroom practice question :-)
    Thanks,

      @GuitarStuffChannel  3 года назад +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have to say the kabinet is very controllable and can easily do bedroom volumes and retain great tone. I really like the way it's easy to compensate between different volume levels of rigs with the volume knob on the front of the kabinet or the master volume on the kemper.

    Thank you for the great video, sadly no one talks about STEREO options, is there any way to do this in stereo if so how??? 2 cabs can be master/salve?? Cannot find ANY info sadly.

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  3 года назад

      Thanks. Good question about stereo...you cannot daisy chain the kabinet for stereo (which is a shame in my opinion, but logical). You can run 2 cables from the kemper, one to each kabinet and get stereo if you want. Personally, I get stereo from my studio monitors and 'amp in the room' from the kabinet, so it's the best of both worlds.

      @@GuitarStuffChannel.Thank you for the reply, YOUR THE ONLY one that answered this, makes me wonder why idiots do tech videos if I daisy chain my 2 mission cabs i get a 4X12, with 2 kemper cabs for stereo I would only get a 2X12. Makes sense to me just to use the mission cabs , they still are the best for stereo.

    Fucking awful. Celestion F12 is way more realistic feeling and sounding. Yikes! I put an F12 into a Tech 21 Deuce Deluxe after experimenting a LOT and that is the happiest I’ve gotten with modeling.
