One of the biggest bands in the world. Been going since the late 70s. And can fill mostly any stadium in the world. Was brought up with these lads and the music. England, Essex
I was 12 years old when this was released, the chorus sends shivers down my spine still to this day, we are surrounded by noise constantly but our need for silence to calm the mind is vital for healing. Learn to enjoy the silence. We have everything we need in pur arms the rest of the stuff is just material gain that cannot fill the void.
The video is about the man who had everything but doesn't feel anything and the song is about a relationship were feelings must be more important then words And no i AM not your dad incognito 🤴
Keep in mind most bands don't direct their own music videos, you need to separate the song from the video. The man behind the video concept is famed director Anton Corbijn. Corbijn's idea was the idea of someone who has everything (king) just looking for some peace, the kind of thing that anyone else can find easily - a quiet place to sit.
in my youth i only listened to heavy metal and by chance i stumbled into a tent on a festival in stockholm sometime in the mid 90's where Chemical Brothes were playing, from that day i never stuck with 1 genre
Music is about the way you feel, stop listening & start feeling & you will enjoy all types of music more (bar bloody pop). I can listen to classical all the way to the heaviest of punk, at the right time in the right moment. I always some end up back with Depeche Mode though 😄 luv chemical brothers, go back before them & check out Nitzer Ebb 👍🏼 🤞🏼you’ll like it, depending on your mood at the time obviously
My friend you are in the extreme minority! Millions upon millions of people worldwide love this song! This was their breakout song here in the states back in 1990!
😂 I also have memories of this song from my childhood but for a very different reason. This was the very first music video I ever remember seeing, as a little kid. It came on at the end of some entertainment news show. It was the first time I recall hearing something other than churxh music (I lived a very sheltered life, lol) The song opened my ears to other music and has stuck with me ever since. 🙂
It was my first music video as well! I became obsessed with this song after that. DM is my favorite band, it is the sound of my childhood, my middle school, my high school. Hearing any of their songs feels me with so much nostalgia. Love their new stuff too.
I'm friggin dying here, I haven't even watched it yet, but are u for real doing ANOTHER of my fav bands???!! I am that old that this was smthng I listened to in my 20th. Oki, gonna watch.
Hes a king and has everything hes ever wanted and he can have anything.. ..but even though hes searching rhe world for more (the video) he has everything hes ever wanted right there. Means be happy with what u have
This song still gives me chills, this is probably my favorite song by Depeche Mode. What a talented group from England. This song was certified gold in the United States and Germany and released in 1990. Policy of Truth is also worth listening to. Glad you found this talented band.
Dude you have got to do their discography. I love your reactions and just about had a heart attack when out on nowhere you react to by favorite band!!!!
The author is explaining how talk is cheap. Actions have always spoken louder than words. Sometime words can ruin a moment, a feeling, a thought, an experience, etc..
Subscribed when you started to listen to Nightwish . Just loved your Muse reaction (Can't believe you haven't heard them before but really glad you are now!) May I ask please please react Depeche Mode song "It's No Good." Love from Finland, stay healthy!
I haven't been able to listen to that in years. Hits really close to home on a heartbreak. Even though I'm in a long term relationship, there's still a little part of me that feels the pain.
Born in the 70s I found hip hop in the 80s it just grabbed me. Nothing hit me like hip hop did. 10th or 11th grade. I was giving other groups a shot. I found alt rock around that time. It's my daily driver now. I'll always have that special place for hip hop. Much love. Top 3 reaction channel IMO. 👊
Same! Mid 80's to late 90's hip hop still my fave. And I was introduced to 'college rock," alternative, goth, industrial, punk etc my junior year of high school courtesy of my best friends sister going to college.
Hahaha. Love your reaction as usual. So full of energy and true feelings Maybe this time you discovered something about your father wanted to say to you about him to you
I personally love Personal Jesus and Freelove by Depeche Mode :) Edit: so I know that you really like live instrumentation, my suggestion to you is Doomed by Bring Me The Horizon live in the Albert Hall... It is epic
Please do Precious by them!! Its easily one of their best songs, super underrated. Ngl its gonna be my next tattoo alongside the violator rose (was at the beginning of this video)
Depeche Mode videos have nothing to do with the music, they are simply abstract visual art. You cannot try to gain any understanding of the music by studying the videos. In this case, ignore the king and isolation as having any contribution to the lyrics. My interpretation: The lyrics are about a relationship between two people. Period. It is about how what we really want is a feeling of love, acceptance, and connection with another person, and that for moments, we often achieve a state of bliss in that connection. Also, part of the connection is obtained through sexual satisfaction, which outside of marriage for many leads to guilt, "pleasures remain, so does the pain." History has shown that our promises of devotion and fidelity to another are often dashed to pieces, thus "vows are spoken, to be broken." The chorus is saying that for NOW in this moment of desire and bliss and while I am holding my partner, the feelings inside seem to be all that matters and that words won't improve upon the moment, so why spoil it. Enjoy the moment of silence and bliss we are enjoying together. It is not about holding a daughter.
Love your reaction, despite the fact that you have "special relationships" with melody, bc you actually try to understand what song is about, not just watch video and smile
Mrtin Gore mentions “little girl” in many songs. Growing up my friends and I assumed he had. a thing for younger girls. The song is about this is all I need this person I love, words would be an invasion.
Never heard of this band or this song before, can not say as I am a fan... maybe a few more listens will make it grow on me. ... then again.... not so sure I want it to grow on me. Your reaction was priceless though.. thank you young man.
Great reaction. Gore, the songwriter, typically writes lyrics in a very ambiguous way so always open to interpretation but I think he was referencing a relationship and how words can just get in the way or ruin it. Some people prefer to interpret his songs as drug anthems. Cool either way 😎
Youre lucky I'm still here. Your dad is the only reason I'm still here...Welcome to 'The other side.' I've learned that everything I wanted is HERE IN MY ARMS reflects to his heroine use. Here, in my arms.
Martin Gore was Dave Gahan's biggest advocate. To be sure. They've been bffs forever. Martin is known to call Dave out with his lyriics. He obviously cares about him.
LOL... I recommended Depeche Mode but not this song... Actually, this is not my favourite song of theirs. However, bands you can listen to is Audioslave, Guns & Roses, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Matallica... hmmm... I'll let you know when I remember more. You can start with Audioslave - Like a stone
I must say that this song was overplayed and got me to turn to metal, but earlier things of theirs are my prime teen years. Metal stuck with me until I found MCR, and now it's MCR and ToP 😁
Much love to you for doing this despite your childhood PTSD lol JK!!!😜 You're awesome!! TBH, this Song Live in Berlin was great, I just watched it tonight actually. I'm interested to see if you Reacted to it, I'll take a look! 😉💜 Stay Beautiful!
Speaking of 80's - 90's radio pop bands as I said on the Imagine Dragons video lol. This was one of the bands that was also considered "alternative" music. I got this album on cassette as a graduation present 🤣😂🤣. Definitely one of the more heavily played on the radio, I like it but not a fave.
You’re spoiling me, Fil! First Muse, now Depeche Mode, not to mention that I see Imagine Dragons in the queue, too?!? 💁🏻♀️💪💪 #fablesquad Edit: I always took the female to be a lover not a daughter. 🤷🏻♀️
@@traktician The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. Consisting of vocalist Morrissey, guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke, and drummer Mike Joyce, critics consider the band one of the most important to emerge from the British independent music scene of the 1980s. Morrissey is on his own now, but did some amazing songs with them. My favorite song by them is "How Soon is Now" off of Hatful of Hollow. I really think you will like it. Also, old INXS would be good too. Never Tear Us Apart, Don't Change.
I really enjoy the cover of this by Evergreen Terrace, you may like it aswell, they're a hardcore band so its quite the difference 😂😁 Oh also Lacuna Coil did a cover aswell that is also pretty good.
When you have get it at the start that is is all about relationship - not daughter - it would have had much more impact of the understanding of the song. It is just brilliant. Edit: At the end - you haven't get it. Enjoy the silence - just ZIP your lips, before you say something stupid...or harmful for the other person. Just STFU 🤷♂️
Ah...the cheesy synth-pop of the 80's...I remember it so well!!! It was all so cutting edge at the time. Now I can barely listen to most of is because it sounds so dated. I"m with Frank on this one - Personal Jesus is THE song for Depeche Mode.
One of the biggest bands in the world. Been going since the late 70s. And can fill mostly any stadium in the world. Was brought up with these lads and the music. England, Essex

So true ✌️💯 i love them
The most pioneering band from England
Most UK bands were of this era were pioneering.

The song is just about relationships. Sometimes words can just get in the way! You need to appreciate being together and what you have!
It's a pity you did not see a live version, you would have had a different experience. This band is a dream on stage.
Another awesome band thanku lots love an god bless x

This brilliant song from this amazing band is that a love for each other that does not need words, just Feelings and Presence.
One of the best alternative bands
“Alternative” to what?
