1:39 As someone who played basketball my whole life this hits really hard. I love this scene. When I was playing my last high school game and the clock started to wind down and I realized it was my last few minutes in that uniform I had to choke back tears so I wouldn’t cry in the middle of the game. 16 minutes is not a long time when you’ve devoted your entire life to a sport and suddenly its about be taken from you. After playing for my coach and with my teammates for 10 years it was now over. They’re genuinely like family too me and now I would never get to play with my sisters again. Or play for my coaches who are like second fathers to me. The minute the buzzer went off me and all the rest of the seniors on the team immediately doubled over and started sobbing. We collapsed on the floor and hugged each other. So I think they did an amazing job in this movie of capturing how emotional your last game can be. Watching it is bringing back all of the memories and emotions from my last game and it’s straight up making me tear up a bit. I would do anything to go back and play with my teammates and coaches again.
the fact that for a dance competition I danced "a night to remember" in jazz and it was singlehandedly the best group dance I've had ever

Also, I love that my biggest takeaway from the HSM reactions are that benji’s inner white girl is just sharpay evans. Like I recently listened to your podcast with trinity and I feel like benji’s drag esthetics would be a mid 00s Disney channels version of Paris Hilton

I only knew this a few months ago, but in the DVD bloopers, there's the graduation scene on the field where Troy says his speech and Zeke and Ryan share a shocking/ funny wild kiss between castmates and everyone was cheering and even Troy was taken aback by it. (And apparently Ryan always had a crush on him but the scenes were either cut or still in and it was subtle nuances in the 1st and sequel movie)
I fully missed that blooper lol, Rizzo did mention the Ryan crushing on Zeke thing when he googled Ryan’s sexuality after filming 😂
All this trilogy did was prove Sharpay is an icon. like, she has stood the test of time and came out on top
Also I’m genuinely surprised they had Vanessa in that maid costume because this was released after the photo hack so you would figure Disney would want to down play any thing that could be seen as too sexy (more than they already do)

I remember my mom took me to see this movie opening night, I know she HATED this movies but she made brownies for us to sneak in the theater and everything. I lovvveeeee the songs in this movie, but the second is my favorite I think.

Fun fact: Since HSM was sooo popular in the 00's, a producer from my country (Venezuela) had the idea of doing the same thing (high school kids singing for no reason and cringy acting). That's how 🌼Somos tú y yo🌼 was born and it became extremely popular not just here but in Latin America in general. However, some songs and situations were very, VERY similar to the HSM ones, season 2 was in an Island and they did a whole coreo next to the pool and all😂😂😂 I was a kid back then and I knew all the songs and was such a fan, now I look back and I'm like 💀

@@PinkPopcast FALSE! troy and gabriella have better on stage chemistry, are easier to work with, and have the added bonus of not being siblings playing romantic leads, making them all around better for the show (vocal talent plays no role in the decision since that's more of a personal preference thing) lol. and now i'm debating HSM online and i don't even like it that much! gah!
@@PinkPopcast not really, it’s canon that Kelsi wrote all the songs while Ryan did the choreography - that’s why they’re the ones who get into Juilliard (well-deserved btw). So with that, either I Want It All or A Night To Remember was written for Sharpay and either way they got her set with a massive production number. Tbh, the understudy should’ve been the one to step in to Gabriella’s number not Sharpay. Why would the understudy go for Sharpay’s number when Sharpay’s right there??
This honestly was my favorite HSM. I loved how dramatic it all was, loved Scream, The Boys Are Back, We Want It All, it was just all so great. And the musical within the musical and how they dropped the curtains to end the movie? Still my favorite of the 3.
My senior year in show choir we closed the big end of the year choir show, we performed 'High School Musical' and it ended with the seniors coming to the front and bowing. I think I cried more than anyone

When I first saw this movie I cried at the end and the bts because it was the end of an era of HSM. The franchise was everything. There were times when I was in high school it felt like HSM.
It was such an epic ending that beautifully wrapped up there’s practically no choice but to get emotional
I feel like no matter how many times I see Senior Year, I start crying at the end because I just watched each movie WHILE I was in high school. Senior Year really hit me hard because of how much it meant to me and I'll always love this series.

So many are mention their joy and excitement when HSM3 came out and I'm just here remembering I felt the opposite. I felt so betrayed that it was released in theaters and not on Disney Channel. I was also in my "not like other girls" phase and did not want to see it in a theater where I would hear others squeel or whatever whenever Zac Efron came on screen.

It was actually released on Disney Channel after it came out in theaters. It was also on ABC family, I remember watching it when it came on ABC when I was younger.
So a little story time with the song Can I have this dance. I'm an early childhood teacher and a couple of years ago we had a brother and sister who always used to ask me to sing, and for whatever reason this song was the one that was stuck in my head. The sister she struggled a lot with controlling her emotions and such and one afternoon we had the rope swing out and she asked if I could sing to her whilst pushing her on the swing (all the other children were inside with the other teachers, if I remember rightly we had like a visitor come in and she didn't do well with strangers and lots to focus on so I was asked to go out with her). So I started singing Can I have this dance to her and then from that moment on it became our song, any time she got too worked up or needed some time to calm down and she couldn't process her emotions herself she would come to me and ask if I could sing her that song :)

The reason I like the series is because it works in the music with the scenes. In the movies they do a performance and then go back to normal like nothing happened. In the show you see them build up to their songs because it’s a bit more grounded in reality. It’s more a show with music in it, rather than a full musical.

I just have to thank you both. I just had to put my sweet Sugar down tonight. I came home, crawled in bed and put something on to take my mind off of it. Benji calling Gabriella’s mom a b-word 😂 made me laugh so hard and then I felt bad for laughing and cried again, but I wanted to honestly thank you for making me laugh when I really didn’t think I would. ❤️

I remember me and my friends driving to our senior prom with all the windows down belting out "A Night to Remember"!🤣🤣🤣🤣We then took a long way there so we could do all of the songs from the 3rd movie, and most of them from the first two!!! On a side note, I've watched these movies soooo many times since I was little that my Mom now just gives me side-eye when I'm home from college and watching them again!!😂😂😂😂 (Between these movies, Camp Rock 1+2, Teen Beach Movie 1+2, Cheeta Girls, and Princess Diaries 1+2..... I will NEVER stop rewatching those movies and loving them!!!)

I remember watching this movie in theatres, my senior year of high school. It was only me, 3 early teens and an older man (looked over 40) in the room, proving that this movie is for everyone lol. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried in the end of it, it was the end of an era...
