Fun fact abt garrett clayton, the one who plays tanner, he actually plays the same character as zach afronn in hairspray live so you were right abt the vibe he gives off.
Rizzo should watch “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals” because the whole premise is a man who hates musicals getting stuck inside one, except it’s played as a horror sci-fi
which one though? Just make sure you're not transported into ones like Repo Man or the Devil's Carnival (might be ok if you're one of the carnies there though, if you don't mind physically and/or mentally punishing people in a. way that both reflects their weaknesses/sins and one of Aesop's fables). Or Sweeney Todd (if you do just make sure you're one of the crowd and don't go up the stairs to the barber shop (at least not alone)
Also, I forgot to mention that Maia Mitchell and Bailey Madison portrayed sisters in The Fosters. Well, half-sisters. And it tripped my sister and me out because they look so much alike!
I watched this movie as a 20 year old, and I still enjoyed it. I found it quite refreshing that the male lead was the one who enjoyed musicals (and earnestly loved the movie) and the female being the one who didn't want to be there. And that it was self-aware! and it introduced me to Jordan Fisher who is AH-MAZING. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts!!
I watched it around the same age too and I enjoyed it as well. It had a solid premise and I’m a sucker for musicals. Also “Cruisin for a Bruisin” is such a bop.
The mark of truly excellent reactors: even a movie I sometimes groan and cringe at, the editing and reacting is so much fun I forget about it or get to groan along with them!
Love this movie Surf Crazy and Crusin for a Brusin was lit and I hope MoviesinDepth comes back for Teen Beach 2 to also his reaction to the ending of the sequel cause half of the people hate it. 😂
i don't know if you're into stage musicals but there's a show called "the guy who didn't like musicals" where a guy who hates musicals gets stuck in one. it's on youtube and i highly recommend it
Ross lynch was my disney crush growing up! So I'm here for this!! Just came from your guys Greece reaction, The three of you togather are a blast 😂 Fun fact Ross Lynchs nephew is obsessed with this movie and watches it daily and asks ross to sing the songs when he sees him 😂
Probably a random take but the reason they know about the weather machine and the lair's location is pretty simple. The plot requires them to know it so the moment the story gets back on track with them as a couple all the info is dumped into their brains cause.. well it is a movie and it has a script to follow. Also I believe most teen beach movies in that era often had some wacky side plot about a businessman wanting to ruin the beach, if it wasn't about the leads wanting to make the other jealous. The vibe for this movie was funny at least and the people seem to be having a good time so I always love this one.
The three of you should definitely do ‘The guy who didn’t like musicals’ by Team StarKid! Just feel like Paul’s facial expressions will be mirrored again 😂
7:14 it really is!!! I remember rewatching the HELL out of the Cruisin for a Bruisin youtube video tryna learn the choreo..I was OBSESSED. I even taught it to one of my fellow camp counselors at my very first summer job 😂
I love this movie too. The music and the homage to beach movies of the 50s are just great. Also yes. Most of the teen beach movies of the 50s and 60s had aliens, mad scientists and pirates lol
One can really feel how much fun you were having watching the movie and singing along and its contagious. I enjoyed this video so much and Im looking forward to watching part 2 once it comes out.
The movie in this movie is a parody of/reference to 'West Side Story' (which makes sense - since the original movie of West Side story was made in 1961 and was a huge worldwide hit, it would make sense that someone else would make another movie in 1962 that directly referenced such a huge hit with a. slight name change like 'Wet Side Story') which is an adaptation of 'Romeo and Juliet'. But they also fitted in a pretty good reference to another Shakespeare play 'Twelfth Night'. Not just because of the swept up by a storm and left on a beach/shore with people getting mixed up in love but hearts (mostly) being united in the end storyline, but also because of Tanner's "low voice - I can do HIGH as well" lines, re one of the songs from 'Twelfth Night': "Oh mistress mine where are you roaming? Oh stay and hear your true love's coming That can sing both high and low That can sing both high and low. Trip no further pretty sweeting Journeys end in lovers meeting Every wise mans son doth know Every wise mans son doth know What is love tis not hereafter Present mirth hath present laughter What's to come is still unsure What's to come is still unsure In delay there lies no plenty Then come kiss me sweet and twenty Youth's a stuff will not endure Youth's a stuff will not endure" Ok, mostly the first verse but still, the reference is there.
Also, the entire thing about surfers versus bikers at a bar is taken from a 1960s movie called bikini Beach. In bikini Beach there is a character named giggles who wears bikinis with fringe all over them, and when she shakes her hips people say wow that seismic. They didn’t Even bother trying to hide that
I was 8 when this movie came out and I watched it *SO MUCH* growing up, mostly because I had a big fat crush on Lela. This was all before I realized I was queer but my favorite scene in the movie was when she and Brady took a walk on the beach at night, I remember not being able to look at anything but her lips, and at the time said it was because of how the lighting made her lipstick look lmfao Edit: now that I think about it I wonder if this is why my mom suspected me being queer before I ever did, I literally couldn’t watch that scene without pointing out how pretty her lips looked
You guys should definitely check out the Beach movies from the 60s. This movie is a spoof on Beach Party, and Beach Blanket Bingo. They star Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon. There are about five movies that they did that were beach related. I think you guys would like them if you like this movie!
Apparently the biggest wave ever surfed was 86 feet. I could never. I'm terrified of heights and the ocean lol. But for a safe (unrelated) way to experience something height-related without the heights is indoor skydiving. I recommend that too anybody that can afford it. I went twice but only because I didnt have to pay for it (my parents did when we were on vacation years ago)
If I had to be teleported into a musical, I think it would be Anastasia or Chicago. (I know. They are a massive contrast, but those are two of my faves. Phantom of the Opera included. Gerard Butler’s performance has my heart.)

I can’t get over how good Rizzo’s Lin impression is lol

The choreography in this movie had me in a chokehold growing up and they really tried to convinced me that tanner was straight
