I've had many VERY realistic dreams about nuclear war and what would happen during it. Some of my dreams could be turned into pretty entertaining stories, that's how in depth they were.
how do you know its realistic when nothing close has ever happened in the real world? i think youre just a cringe kid that played some stalker and metro so now you think you have these deep af dreams.

Right now in the world, there are two countries at war one of them owns the biggest nuclear weapons arsenal on the planet and the other doesn't have any, so the first one is not deterred from a nuclear point of view. Why they can't use one or a couple of small warheads(a couple of kilotons) for some tactical gains on the battlefield? Because others will start a war with them? Because others will start a nuclear war with them? What's the point of starting such a dangerous escalation because of the amount of explosives that exploded momentarily instead of a couple of weeks? I don't believe in a popular scenario with the launching of thousands of ICBMS and destroying entire cities and regions. I don't believe that such a scenario is the end of humanity. But some limited use - I think it's absolutely possible and no one will do much about it
Because of the political and economic consequences, I assume. Dropping a nuke would be like opening a pandora's box, it's hard to say what exactly would happen, but nobody really wants to do it and see what would happen. That is why they aren't being used.
I think a nuclear war would refer to a attacks-responses scenario, and that would surely mean if not the end for us all, just the beginning of it. Also, to be fair… the usage of the 2 bombs in ww2 was a ruthless and megalomaniac political move that just the US played, and against civilians which is the cherry on top, no one responded to that and to this day it’s the only time a nuclear weapon has been used (hopefully it’s also the last).
