Another amazing video ❤
When my children were younger, I was a single mother and didn't have a lot of money. I remember multiple Christmas's I brought all their gifts from op shops and car boot sales. My children are adults now, and they still talk about those Christmas's as being filled with love and simplicity. They remember the thoughtful gifts and spending time together, and going to Christmas lights and carols and free activities at the libraries and shopping centres.
Christmas doesn't have to cost a fortune to make memories ❤❤❤
Aw thank you so much 😊 I’m glad you liked it! I love that! I was a single mum for 8 years too and my kids already talk about the simplest things we did. Those definitely are the things that mean the most! It’s lovely to know they appreciate the things you did with them as children and I think the free or low cost things are usually the most Christmassy things! Thank you for the ideas and inspiration ❤️❤️❤️
Love your calming personality!
Aw thanks so much, I appreciate that 😊
I agree xmas can be quite high pressure and ridiculously expensive. Its very much a choice as to how much we spend on the festive period, although retailers are keen to persuade people they need to spend more and more 🙄🙄😬😬.
Im not celebrating xmas at the moment, but hope I will when I move next year. Previous Xmases I tried to do a lot of prepping a few days before before with cooking , which helped a lot. Then I decided why should I spend hours cooking and cleaning in the kitchen and getting stressed out, so I stopped. We had buffets on xmas day and snacking foods. I did sometimes make a roast on Boxing Day, but not every year. If we had guests or visited other people we took a bottle and a food donation.
As a child we always had fresh holly and mistletoe to decorate the house. My mum and I made table decorations, too. Mum always made xmas cakes, mince pies, puddings and trifles, which I helped with. For me that was half the fun of xmas 😊
Yeah I think it should just be a personal choice but it is definitely forced on us and we are guilted about it through marketing.
Do you do anything else instead of is it just like a normal day? You’re right, it shouldn’t be so stressful and cooking can get overwhelming. It should be enjoyable for the person cooking too.
Those are lovely memories and you’re right, those are the things kids remember! I’m sure all the baking was lots of fun! Xx
Thank you for recommending Simple Things on Libby! I wasn’t sure it was the same here in the US. But it is:) I’m enjoying it so much. Thank you❤

@thefunkythrifter It's just another day, another week, but I do indulge in some of the Xmas foods I like. It just seems like there is no point to celebrating - as I mentioned before and I don't have any decorations now. Once I've moved and settled into new life I might have a different perspective on xmas 2025 😂.
Yeah it might feel different next year but you don’t have to either just because other people are 😊 yeah I do love the Christmassy foods. That’s one of the best parts 😊❤️
