    Is pimento cheese better than jalapeno cheese? They're both good to me, although Mama definitely thinks pimento is the winner :^)

      we had spam occasionally when I was a kid and I never loved it, but I've found an appreciation for it later in life...when we lived in Seattle we would eat spam for breakfast quite regularly. There was a Filipino restaurant in our neighborhood that served spam for breakfast...it was 2 slices of fried spam with rice, two fried eggs, and a few small sheets of dried nori...all for $5.50!...that was a hard deal to beat in Seattle

      @@ChefBuckRecipes my mom raised us on a rural teacher salary in WV. We didn’t have money to go on vacations but in the summer she would take us on impromptu picnics... a quick stop at the grocery for a loaf of bread, potted meat, chips and snack cakes. Off to a roadside picnic table and we were happy as clams.
      When you mention spam, I thought of our potted meat picnics ☺️

Grew up in Wisconsin - so cheese is life and cheese spread is an essential element of any supper club salad bar trip. For years, I've been fascinated by pimento cheese - and you know what? Anthony, do yourself a favor and MAKE HOMEMADE pimento cheese. Eating store bought is a true sin. Use Cracker Barrel sharp or extra sharp and only Hellmans or Dukes mayo. Lots pepper. Yes it is amazing. Chef Buck is awesome. Watching this video is like going back home. :)). Enjoy! His mama is the cutest!!!

    • @dixiedoo5876
      @dixiedoo5876 3 года назад

      Definitely, make your own. There's no comparison between homemade and store bought. I wouldn't eat it growing up because mama always bought it but she had a friend give her a recipe recently and I just happened to stop by so I got to taste it. I now make it, myself. I just recently made it with 4 oz of cream cheese added to this recipe and it's now my favorite version. I'm considering adding garlic and onion powder too.

    Mama Redbuck is the BEST! And she’s right...down here in the south, way out in the country, sometimes the prisoners get loose. Grew up with that and they were almost always captured near where we lived. Haha!
    Pimento cheese is the best. I add a lot more stuff to mine. I add cream cheese, cheddar, Colby jack, mayo, a dash of chipotle hot sauce, a dash of Worcestershire sauce, and anything else that sounds good. There is no bad pimento cheese. It’s ALL good! Thanks Mama Redbuck!

    Chef loved your Mama Redbuck - these videos are always my favorite - family and their history is a winning combination - she has presence... I'll bet she fixes her some jalapeno cheese spread after you left - she had the look - me thinks she did protest to much! Really likes..."I just wish you would hold the camera like it was valuable...I am I've got it..she is precious!

    My husband really enjoys pimento cheese(that's how we call it.) Now I can whip it up easily at home with pantry ingredients and the Duke's and cheddar that are always at hand. We live pretty far away from the closest supermarket, so he's no longer out of luck if he doesn't put it on the weekly grocery list.
    Thank you.

    I've known about pimento years cuz my grandmother, mom and aunt would make it from time to time. They're from Louisiana.

    I never thought about spicy pimento cheese until Palmetto Cheese from Pawley's Island, SC, put out a pimento cheese with jalapenos. It is really good. You could also make pimento cheese with pepper jack cheese (could use half of that and half sharp cheddar).

    I grew up on Mrs. Grissom's pimento cheese and homemade pimento cheese. In the mid-late eighties my grandmother would receive a monthly allotment of three five pound blocks of govt. cheese. I would go and stand in line for her and she would keep one for herself and give one to her next door neighbor and one to me. My roommate would grate the cheese and mix it with Miracle Whip and Pimentos from the jar and a tablespoon or so of horseradish. It made the most excellent pimento cheese which we would consume on our night shift jobs over the course of the month.

    She’s a keeper and I want some of her recipe, the pepper variety looked tasty as well! How about some pepper pimento spread, your moms recipe accept replace black pepper with Jalapeños and maybe a little chopped cooked well bacon 🥓

    I agree with Mama that your cheese would be too hot for me. Never had pimento cheese either but I'd try it. I got a laugh when Mama said you don't pay her enough when she took over CG's job. 😂

      the cheese really helps cool the pepper down...although my mama might disagree with the use of the word "really"
