    Loved this tut. and made them with 3/8" soft aluminum wire. The challenge was the loop at the back, I cut it off and made a swirl out of a 1 1/2" straight finding. Used JB weld to attach it at the back and it worked. Very different look from yours but lots of compliments on them. I never knew about the hammering and also did this, really good tip. Thanks for the great video. I am going to make a pendant next with the same pattern and wire. Janice

      @makingiteasywithliz  9 лет назад

      James Campbell Thank you Janice. I love when people try different things and make it their own. You could just do the center spiral, having a wire at either side of it, one making the "waves" and the other just turning a loop at the top. That might be easier. Thanks for watching.

    Making It Easy with Liz Question: Couldn't you just make them go the same direction instead of mirroring,except the loop for attaching the ear wire.....putting one to the front and one to the back when you make the spirals at the tops of the earrings, and then when you put them on the ear wire just flip one over to the backside...showing the opposite side and direction? Maybe not on all types, but on flat earriing? Thanks in advance for your answer and for this great tutorial!

    Liz, I love these earrings and thanks so much for the tutorial. Question: Could you not make both earrings the same, going in the same direction, and then when they're done just turn one over so that they are opposite? Hope you know what I mean....lol

    • @susancontreras8759
      @susancontreras8759 9 лет назад +1

      Nope, never mind....just figured it out on my own...wouldn't work...disregard my inquiry...lol. Thanks again for the video! ;)

    • @makingiteasywithliz
      @makingiteasywithliz  9 лет назад

      Susan Contreras Ha ha...yes Susan, I thought the same thing. You could get away with what you are saying if you ended at the top and just made a simple loop without it being behind the spiral. I have made them that way too.

  • @toniecat1028
    @toniecat1028 9 лет назад +1

    Liz, I loved this tutorial and also love your sense of humor! My question is, can't you just make two matching earrings identical (remembering to make the top loop should mirror the other one) and then flip one over - to be matching mirrors of each other?
    And would it be OK (maybe easier) to use nylon nosed players to help flatten and control the beginning spiral? I don't want to make short cuts if it'll waste time and wire.
    Also, have you ever tried using a torch on your copper wire? It leaves gorgeous colors and is easier (for me) than doing a Liver of Sulfur treatment - stinky!
    Thanks again so much - and keep the laughter coming! (As I watch your tutorials, I started with you Atlantic Waves cuff - so I always think of you as Wonder Woman!) ;-)

    • @makingiteasywithliz
      @makingiteasywithliz  9 лет назад

      Antoinette Marlow Thank you so much Antoinette. To answer your 1st question, no it won't work doing it the way I show you because the loop wire comes from the back but you could do mirrored if you left the loop wire at the top of the spiral.
      You can use nylon pliers but sometimes you cannot get them to grip well and your spiral slips. If you are worried about marring your wire, put painter's tape on the jaws. It is totally up to you to experiment and find what works best for you.
      I have use a torch before and yes I get gorgeous results but not antiqued which is just a warm tone that I was looking for. The colors from the torch are unpredictable and for just antiquing, I like the liver of sulfur. I only use a drop so the smell is no more foul than a hard boiled egg.
      Thanks so much for your comments, suggestions and support!

      Hi Jan
      Thank you for watching. It might be easier if you just spiraled the wires evenly and made a loop at the top with the one wire instead of stopping and bringing it up the back.
