    Morning, from Malaysia. Watch this lovely, peaceful family adventure, made me smile in my heart. Truly at peace with nature. Thank you for reminding me of the important things in life

    A little late to watching your video, but the trail to the hut is trail marked now... there is a little orange triangle on the boardwalk where you turn off. If you're not looking for it, you'll miss the triangle for sure! Such a gorgeous setting!

    For. second there, was wondering why the snow. I keep forgetting is winter in the Southern Hemisphere :). Nice to explore Mt Cook with your family.

    I stumbled across this while I'm trying to edit and I can't stop watching it... Great video guys and totally love this park. I had not heard of this hut, but it does look like a good one!

      Sometimes you need a brain break from editing 😃. Thanks! It really is a neat hut. It's fun meeting new people in huts, but it is also super fun to have a hut all to yourself! We had such a great time!

    So much fun to watch. Awesome adventure. Exploring off the main trail to get to the hut was a tough one. Thanks for the history of the hooker hut .

    Thanks for your vid, i am planning to visit the hut in August this year and didn't realise how incredibly popular it is! the hut is almost booked out for the entire month of August, so thanks for the heads up!

      @@AlwaysAnAdventureWithKids what a coincidence you replied - we were meant to go yesterday but when checking in at the DOC info center they informed us the hooker track has been closed. So unfortunately we couldn't stay at the hut 😕 they closed the track literally as we were arriving at Mt Cook. But we checked out Baikie Hut instead 😁

      We're glad they are good little hikers. They are usually faster than us, especially when we have packs and a baby. We have been trying to weigh them down lately 😅.

      Yes 😅, she has a lot of confidence and is a leader. Much different from her brothers. It will be interesting to see how the baby develops. I wasn't sure if it is a boy vs. girl thing or just her personality.

    For those in the US, New Zealand schooling has school holidays (for 2 weeks if I remember from my school days) spread between each term, with the end of year December January break over our summer being the longest about 6weeks. So about 4 breaks in the year. Not just the one major holiday like in America.

      Glad you liked it! It was a lot of work to put together. We shot a lot of footage, so it took soooo long to get through. It felt so good to get it finished. We love that NZ provides such a safe environment for the kids to enjoy the outdoors. Hope you are doing well!

      Yes, we are looking forward to when we can get back out there too. 😀 So many huts and tracks to explore. It's so neat that NZ has huts to stay in. It makes it much more attainable with kids.

      We love Mt Cook National Park! Every time we go to the South Island, we have to go there. Hopefully the alert levels will drop soon and you'll be able to start exploring. We are in Auckland, so I think it will be a while for us 😬.

    OMG this is so beautiful!! I got so jealous I booked it in June for our wee family and a few friends. But just want to ask what temp rating were your sleeping bags? Just not sure whether we need to get warmer ones or just use what we have.

    • @AlwaysAnAdventureWithKids
      @AlwaysAnAdventureWithKids  3 года назад

      Awesome! You will LOVE it! Great question. Our bags are pretty old, so not 100% sure what the rating is for all of them. Two are rated down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit.....which is I think -9 degrees Celsius. We weren't too cold. We dressed in layers. We will also sleep with winter hats if we get too cold. Do you have any favourite walks/huts? We're always on the hunt for new places :)

      @@AlwaysAnAdventureWithKids thank you so so so so much for replying! That’s really helpful. I think we need to get warmer ones. I thought I could get away with not buying because of the fireplace.😅 We have only done a few parts of Abel Tasman, a bit of Paparoa and then some shorter days walks like the HVT and then just camp in the campsites. We haven’t tried huts as too scared to bring a child with us but I saw your video and you took 4! Not to mention a 10monther! 😮 My confidence went up a little bit so booked it and hopefully we could prepare for this well.:) 😂

    You have to keep the fire going all night,never let it go out,especially in the snow.

    Maybe I’m just a lazy piece of shit but there’s no way in hell I’m walking that far to stay in a hut with no electricity and an outhouse that far away. Yikes.

    • @AlwaysAnAdventureWithKids
      @AlwaysAnAdventureWithKids  2 года назад

      😅 If I told you this was one of the easiest huts to get to, would that make you feel any better? 😀 Funny story....video to come at some point in the future....one of our kids was using the outhouse at night time. We gave him a phone to use as a flash light. He came back to the hut without the phone......😅
