  • Robin Greenfield speaking on How to Simplify Your Life in Saint Petersburg, Florida - April 2021.
Millions of people today have a strong desire to downsize and simplify their life and get rid of possessions. But often they express to me that they feel lost and just don’t know where to get started. Today I have drastically simplified my life but it has taken me nearly a decade of work to get to this point. I can still relate strongly to the challenge of breaking free from holding onto material possessions. And I know that for most of us, it's the first few steps that are the most challenging. In this video and accompanying guide I share how to downsize your life, specifically for those that are just beginning their journey or who have already begun, but are feeling stuck. You could say it is written for people who live “normal lives” in large houses to small apartments, but can easily be applied to minimalists, tiny house dwellers and van-lifers wanting to take it a step further.

@@VitalityMassage the bankers have brainwashed us that we need to save for our children's future and we save for our kids so that they become next generation slaves of the same system. It is wiser to have a land and invest in building good soil and fruit trees so that your children will have good soil to grow their own food. Getting rid of the slave cycle is the wise thing every parent can do.

Just learned here that you're Jewish. Jewish communities really need people to come in and convince them to stop using single-use plastics on Shabbat in people's homes and at synagogue kiddish and they need convincing to stop the endless endless plastic disposables and aluminium foil on Pesach. Some people don't even bother with a Pesach dish set--they just use disposables for the entire 7/8 days! These acts of senseless waste are repeated every Shabbat and chag around the world in millions of households and synagogues. This could be your next project. I actually posted something like this on one of your recent posts but then I deleted it because I thought it would just generate antisemitism, but hearing this is different. You're currently in San Diego--I bet the San Diego Jewish community would love to hear from you after you finish your rubbish suit project.

Thank you so much for your inspiration Rob! Thanks to you, I am on a mission to be as small a cog as possible in this massive corporate machine. I quit my 20 year profession of driving around town, poisoning the earth for profit (exterminator). I am about to move into my detached off grid garage. I am currently prepping my home to be a short term rental. I stopped using soap, shampoo, deodorant and lotion 2 months ago. Nobody noticed. What an eye opening experience! I used to think I had sensitive skin. It turns out that slathering my body with extracted chemicals was making my skin sensitive. I am breaking my addiction to fast food. I stopped tossing green waste. I have no clue how to grow my own food but I am going for it! I am fortunate that I live near a handful of community gardens. I am already an avid cyclist so I got that going for me but I am keeping my 25 year old Nissan pickup because...truck. I realize that this will become uncomfortable at some point but I am taking it as a challenge, treating it like a game. I am taking a deep dive and I am going for it. Again, thank you!

I did buy a cycle and try to mostly buy local foods from the farmer market (despite it being prohibitively expensive...) Perhaps the most important unsaid thing regarding this topic is this: live in a place with a good climate if you can. Every aspect of this lifestyle (or any other, really) becomes exponentially more difficult in a harsher climate. Human beings CAN live just about everywhere, but not thrive in every one of those locations. Africa (our place of origin as a species) is not a desertic wasteland nor is it a block of ice. There are only so many places on the planet that really provide what human beings need in abundance.

Same for winter couldn't live in Sweden or Alaska in winter but yes to Mexico. We are a migrant species we just settled because our society wants us sedentary. The way you talk reminds me of a couple of minimalist nomad RUclipsrs I used to watch a lot-their channel is called Conor and Brittany, (or Thriving Minimalist and Brittany Taylor). They’re acrobats and relationship coaches who focus in alternative relationship styles now, but they started off with a lot of minimalism content as they asked a lot of fundamental “why” questions about their lives. I met them at the Woodstock Fruit Festival in upstate New York, where there were workshops on things that you’re talking about- there was this barefoot runner giving workshops who I think you’d love to hear from, and someone who was biking across the states as well (eating like only bananas or something, it was wild)

Food sovereignty, a term originated by the global peasant movement La Via Campesina, is the right of peoples to grow, access and eat healthy foods that reflect their culture and are good for the land. It pushes against the dominant paradigm of food security, which often prioritizes market-based solutions that keep communities dependent on cheap food, instead of restoring traditional foodways disrupted by settler colonialism.

What about money? Do you earn any at all? Is it possible to live without it? How about insurance? This lifestyle is very appealing to me 😁

You can find this information on his web page. He does not have an insurance, he earns very little (by choice) mostly with public speaking and not above US povery line. Every money he gets from media like youtube goes directly to charities and non-profit organizations for environment I think. Look it up. :)
