I know it’s probably aids incarnate to edit this much footage together, but this is genuinely some of my favourite content on RUclips. Huge props to everyone involved, especially grandpa because I know he gets Nam flashbacks.

these races are what got me back into RoR2 content. Love seeing them! Trying to get Eclipse 8 with all characters, doing all characters on each level before moving on (everyone completes eclipse 1 before doing eclipse 2 on any character, and so on)
same! I don't have much time to play so I've only just beaten eclipse 2 with commando, but i'm having a blast so far. good luck on your e8 run!

Been watching some RiskofResources VODs lately. I knew you were working on a competitive ror2 video and I was really hoping I didn't spoil myself. I had forgotten to finish watching this one in particular, so now I'm a happy grandchild.
Wow, the 3-person rounds were such an amazing viewing experience!
I've skipped all the streams so far because I really struggle with following all 4 players at the same time. it feels overwhelming and feels like more work than payoff. so much time passes between when I cycle my attention through the other 3 runners that its hard to keep track of each of their builds and differentiate their runs in my head. And on Twitch especially, I can't instantly rewind to rewatch a different perspective.
But with 3 players I can easily keep track of each of their "stories" so I feel a lot more invested. I can much more easily keep up with all 3 runs with occasional glances. And the tension feels so much higher since I can keep in mind what items each player is looking for, so seeing those items in others' runs adds to the drama
I'd love to see a full 3-player race! Please link me any VODs if there have been any in the past

It’s the gauntlet mod. You set up the full randomisation in the configs and you enter a seed in the main menu
Public_gauntlet. Can also just search riskofresources in the thunderstore for all that our mod team has made

How do you seed a map?
Loved the video, but I think a huge missed chance would have actually been to have a revival round. You conveniently have 4 eliminated players, about the average size of a round, so why not have an extra revive round to decide last place through 6th place, and then have a 5-player final match to finish it all off

Does anyone know what difficulty these guys play on? Is it monsoon or standard?

I have done some racing myself with a similar mod like this in a game, Spelunky 2. I came to notice that the penalty time ends up being a pretty big deal. Players with a death would have resulted in pretty much an instant loss since the time lost can never be caught up. This brings me back to the mods original, Lazarus Wings. If the penalty time is entirely arbitrary and merely acts as a visual entertainment, then sure, 5 minutes will be a good number to grasp. But if it acts as an actual tool to push a balance between speed and safety, you need to heavily lower the time. By default, a player can only balance out the times if the player with a death finishes 5 minutes earlier and the other player looses 5 minutes irl. This is close to impossible in a normal race to archieve, since if someone is that slow, they are bound to die regardless at some point. Aiming for a time like 2 or 3 minutes makes it that with a 1 death difference, the race only needs to be extended by 3 minutes at worst after the first finish and the speedrun heavily encourages a balance between safety and speed.
I respectfully disagree. 5 minutes, as it stands currently, provides a pretty good “go fast vs play it safe” ratio, slightly leaning towards the “don’t die” part. sure, if it’s a very good run and you die early you might not be able to win the run, but others can die and in longer runs like the bandit run in the video it didn’t matter nearly as much. Sure, dying puts you at a large disadvantage, but it kinda should, and as racers get better you are required to put yourself in dangerous just to win in real-time. I will say the argument about being certain to die if you go slower is not at all accurate in this game, because almost every time you go slower you’ll get more items, and with more items you’ll have a lower risk of dying.
One of the bigger worries with the events is having dying give an advantage, and many times lower than five minutes can cause scenarios where it’s actually beneficial to kill yourself (such as Diablo skip on captain when you have too much curse), which would be kinda wierd from an event perspectives, especially if it rewards somebody making a mistake. Although maybe that would be cool to see I don’t know.
5 minutes isn’t guaranteed to be the best time, but as every run is different and would technically want a different time penalty, not only is it a nice number but it also provides a good balance between safety and speed, and I think it’s actually quite good as someone who’s raced with it.
Here is a nice idea for a loadout run.
Assisted Run. Basically every runner has a friend, that watches the other players' run and can give info to their teamate.
Similar to the Team Runs.
Unironically you probably would have won the Artificer race if the aspect hadn't dropped. You probably wouldn't have tried to greed the grandad without it
