  • This golf swing transition move is genius. It will smooth out your transition from the backswing to the downswing while adding power. The best part is, it’s easy to do!
    In this golf lesson, PGA golf pro Kerrod Gray and Marno Vorster demonstrate how to transition in the golf swing like the pros for more consistent golf shots.
    Unfortunately, the transition is something that I see most amateur golfers struggle with. That’s why everyone needs to know this move.

    This video and conversation made a huge improvement to my irons and short club swing. The articulation and ease for me to hear and understand is excellent.
    78yrs old and u finally understand the drop, which promotes inside out, the turning of dropped hands actually gave me a sense of the lag. Thanks gentleman!

    I think I finally understood this, it’s not just a drop of the arms but a feeling of the arms unfolding away from the body as they drop. My tendency is to hold my arm angles too long even while I restrict shoulder movement and drop the arms. I’ll spend the rest if my winter muscle memorizing this……Ty!

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  5 месяцев назад

      That's exactly right! The "drop" is a way to initite the downswing in a sequencial way. Just like you said - unfolding. Thanks for the comment!

    IMO, This is the ideas that the Mike Malaska talked about. Especially the initial short drop of the hands and relaxed right shoulder. Thi s is a very good explanation of what I’d forgotten. Thank you both so much.

    Excellent demonstration gentlemen on letting the arms "free fall" on the downswing! I have experimented with this method and was surprised how easy it was to get through the ball. When making this move however, I had to remember that at the same time the arms are falling, the right shoulder needed to come down with the right arm scraping against the right side of the body and not out away from the body. I learned a lot from viewing this video! Well Done!!

    I dont think most average Joe golfers get how crucial a patient, gravity initiated, soft & smooth transition is. Without it, all kinds of hell breaks loose. People could really change their game if they'd put serious time into this part of their swing. This is why pros don't look like they're swinging out their shoes to hit it far. They let physics happen and dont interfere with it. Slow to a stop, slow to drop>>> body rotation and ground force to WHIP IT!

    On the subject getting the hands and arms to drop downward from the top of the backswing what do you think of the concepts of keeping the rear hip back (turned over /behind the rear heel as it is at the end of the backswing) while either feeling like both elbows lower straight down at the same time or rate, or feeling like the hands get thrown under the shoulders to impact position?

    • @kerrodgraygolf

    Great vid! I wonder how does this move reconcile with "leading with the hips" in the downswing? I fwel like it throws me off sequence when i try to drop my arms. Thanks!

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  5 месяцев назад +1

      Honestly, it's a combination of both techniques, with the hips initiating the downswing while the arms drop naturally into the slot. It will take some experimenting to find a balance/ what works best for your swing.

      I have similar problem. With dropping arms creates amazing flush shots wıth beautiful high trajectory but sometimes I hit really bad behind the ball. It is possible sequence issue. Not sure when you start with dropping. Maybe at the same time when downswing starts?

    Would you recommended this for someone that already comes massively inside-out? I fully get the concept but it sounded more catered to the OTT guys.

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  5 месяцев назад

      If you are massively inside out you probably are doing something similar to this already. Wouldn't hurt giving it a try, but it's hard to know if it would help you without seeing your swing.

  • @juanbotha6634

    I think the challenge for the everyday golfer is the idea to get open at impact hence spinning plus the fear letting club drop will result in hitting fat shots.
    Probably good followup videos on the open idea and not hitting fat shots

    You still need to pull the arms down fast in order to achieve speed. The hip and legs help to further propel the ball forward.

    I’ve really been working on dropping my arms. But I noticed yesterday, as I was dropping my arms nicely in front of me, like in front of my right leg, the club was right on my foot line. I found I was pushing the ball right. So I need to still drop the arms, but the club should be more from the inside like in the video, correct?

    Why don’t you define what the chest of the engine is. Is it the upper torso only ? So the lower back doesn’t rotate ?
    So many enigmas ? Define it, show exactly what you mean. I’ve gone through every video, all your website content. It just doesn’t explain it.
    No one even explains the lead should either.

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, upper torso is the chest. "Chest is the engine", is a metaphor for the chest being the power house of the swing that drives the power. Your whole back should rotate, but the chest should lead the rotation.
