It's great you did Death Valley. That way, you can go from the extreme low to the highest point on Whitney. You have to like Lone Pine Kurk. JMT is great thanks for sharing.

Overall how was the weather during your hike? My husband and I are planning a NOBO hike this year with almost identical dates. Obviously it can change year to year but curious what challenges you face in September

Follow up question- did you meet a lot of people along the way? I imagine NOBO PCT hikers are passed this point. Hoping to meet fellow hikers and form a little Tramily

So there was a lot of rain about a week before we got out there that had closed some of the access roads I believe which they said is something that is very unlikely to happen. We ended up jumping off between Vvr and Red‘s because of a tropical storm it was a hurricane I believe off of California that was coming through and ended up dumping like some flash flooding type of rains which I know people were on trail and we probably could’ve done it too. It just would’ve been miserable. we actually got off before they got snow which we had gotten told by multiple people when we were finishing. So there is a possibility of very hot as we had record-breaking heat but a lot of rain also no rain and also snow. It is really tough to say what type of whether it is as we are not from out there. But I would just keep an eye on weather in talk to people on trail. It seems like everybody knew what type of weather was coming in.

We met a lot of people, but almost all of them were southbound on the John Muir Trail. We met very very small amount of southbound PCT hikers that had skipped ahead due to fire closures as well as some snow that was too far north. We didn’t see any northbound JMT hikers up until maybe Yosemite And it was only about two people. It was odd since we expected nobody to be able to get the sobo permits and I do know of another person that was going northbound but she had done a different itineraries so she was about two days behind on a total trip so people were behind us and around us. We just didn’t see the same people.

@@daniellemaple5710 thanks for the reply! I figured any type of weather is possible. I know people starting earlier in the summer have to worry more about run off from snow. Is there a good method in keeping track of weather since I hear google and service in sparse in resupply areas.

Snow melt is going to be a major issue this year, and it’ll last all summer. Be careful with river crossings!
