I saw the thumbnail and and burst out laughing. I'm 67 and I ADORE the Smothers Brothers. The intelligence behind the dumb is undeniable. They were STARS. Appointment television.
These guys were my Sunday night sermon. I have season one and two on dvd and I'm trying to get the third...even my Grandpaerents loved the Smothers Brothers.....the best laughs from the late 1960's.
I'm 67. Remember this show well. Looked forward to it every week. & Pat Paulson. 😂😅 Such clever humor. What a shame they were taken off the air, they were so popular. Happy to have rediscovered them here!!! ❤
Love the faces Dick makes trying to maintain. 😂 I was pretty young when their show was on, so I really don't remember a whole lot about it, but my sister bought several of their albums, and I remember listening & laughing.
When which show was on? There was: Tom & Dick Smothers in My Brother the Angel (1965-66) The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour (1967-69) The Summer Brothers Smothers Show (1968) The Smothers Brothers Summer Show (1970) The Smothers Brothers Show (1975) The Tom and Dick Smothers Brothers Special I (1980) The Tom and Dick Smothers Brothers Special II (1980) The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour: The 20th Reunion (1988) The New Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour (1988-89) and Smothered: The Censorship Struggles of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour (2002) (Just sayin'...)
@@KenLieck Well before the ones you mentioned there was Smothers Brothers- Think Ethnic! 1963 Smothers Brothers- Curb Your Tongue Knave- 1963 Smothers Brothers- Must be Something I Said- 1964 Smothers Brothers- Mom Always Liked You Best- 1966 (My personal Favorite) There are more, but those are the ones I remember her having.
@@ZippyThePinhead What I listed was the TV series & specials that they had, not the albums (though there is an album called "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" too!) My fave record by far was "Curb Your Tongue, Knave", though I'm sure that was just cuz it was my first one and I wore it out!
I love these guys! I got to see them in person in Las Vegas at The Debbie Reynolds Hotel/Casino. I wonder if Steve Martin wrote this skit for them. It sounds so much like something that Steve would write.
Halloween used to be fun back in the old days but these days, some people go too far with what's supposed to be scary to just down right gross. You also have to go through your kid's candy to make sure it doesn't have needles, drugs or poison in it. How sad...
Nowadays they do controlled events and the stories made up about issues in candy have been circulating since I was a little kid. It doesn't happen. The modern problems include fears of the kids being kidnapped, and simple logistics in more rural areas where there are few sidewalks and houses are very far apart.
People keep thinking that "things used to be better" but - in my experience - things have always been pretty much the same. With common sense and caring you don't have to waste your life on fear.
Had the great pleasure to play the Smothers Brothers Show several times. Great comedians! As a musician, you knew the joke was coming and you still laughed! Timing! Thank you so much for the great experiance!

Same! Love these guy & Pat Paulson. Remember rolling on the floor laughing. 👍❤️❤️❤️😂🤣 Their still funny!!!
Tommy was always a delight with his far-out boyish innocence. May he rest in peace.
These two were a treasure
I love that Dickie finally just goes with it. "candied yams. And then the war ended."

But at least Tommy's "weaves" were funny !
You look at this and you want to politicize this, you are a very sad person, probably a troll
Beat me to it.
