Driftin' (Jimi Hendrix cover) Will Lee feat. Jeff Beck

- Jeff Beck (1944-2023) at his finest. Nobody had a sound or a soul to match what he had. His solo on this track is the musical equivalent of the sun breaking through clouds. It only takes the first 2 notes and you’re on a magic carpet of sound, soaring across the sky on the Jeff-stream. There’s never going to be another voice like his on any instrument. He was truly amazing. When I asked Jeff to play this solo for my album cut “Driftin'“ by Jimi Hendrix, I was blown away that he said yes, but once I heard the solo, I was literally on my knees crying, as I replayed it over and over again in disbelief..I’m so proud of this project, produced by Chris Hajian and myself. Thanks to Ben Sidran & Yoshinari Nobu at Go Jazz/Polystar #thisboyslife

This is a Perfect song (version) to pay tribute to Jeff!
RIP Jeff Beck, thank you 🙏for all the years of beautiful music and inspiration.❤
Thank you, Will. We're all blessed to hear this wonderful track and now as an awesome tribute to a beloved musician. One of the best, who will be missed.
Beautiful Will Lee, thank you for posting this. RIP Jeff Beck, we are grateful to you for sharing your wonderful gift of music with us.
That is very beautiful and thank you for posting it. It sounds like Jeff played his solo as a tribute to Jimi, with such deep-felt emotion that only he could express in his solos. That's what chokes me up about Jeff; the self-deprecating, humorous exterior hiding depths of emotion that leave you in tears. Jimi would have loved it.
Beautiful solos from both Will and Jeff and a ripping vocal as well 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great track. I never heard anyone else play melodically (perfectly in tune!) with a whammy like Jeff Beck, which he seemed to do so effortlessly. And that he could do all of these technically demanding things and have you thinking about the *music and soul* and not about the stunning technique. One of the most important players of any instrument in the last half of the 20th century, if you ask me.
very nice song. long live Becks music.
So beautifully done, Cry Of Love has always been so special and you breathed new life Into Driftin’. Thanks, Will, may Jeff rest easy and in peace.
I didn''t know this version by Will Lee of this Hendrix's song that I always loved (and love) from my youth. This is amazing tribute...I realy like Lee's playing but his voice here it's so great and also all other musicians..Jeff solo is also amazing with no doubt!
Thank you Will for it.

Will, such a loss. You have played with some cats..Hiram of course RIP and now Jeff is gone. I loved his solo ....- I almost forgot to say something about that wonderful fretless solo-And Your voice is stellar.Thank you
Thanks for this Will, I could see Jeff’s face profile in one of the smaller clouds. ✌️🪶🦬
That Fretless Piccolo opener is pretty sweet as well, Will. But Beck.... Skill, imagination and imagination without peer. So appropriate to hear him on a Hendrix cover. And not the first time....

Wow, what a beautiful rendition of this song...
Still missing Jeff... This death is really hard to take...
Will, your voice is a well kept secret... though I saw your clip singing MacArthur Park on Garry Beers Talk Bass thread... That too is exceptional!
Would love to hear more about these sessions with Beck.... What other songs did you cut?
This version is really sublime!! Wow, have to listen again
Hope you guys play the Egg again...I missed you this time round...bass Vai the night before, and probably should not have gone being ill...
Hope you book that venue again!
OMG Amazing! oh man.
Très belle interprétation de l'original du morceau original du dernier album du génial Jimi Hendrix par un autre génie de la guitare, Jeff Beck avec la voix inimitable de Will Lee.
wow
O M G- there's about 6 or 7 different tones just in that solo.
The Man 😢
Absolutely beautiful!!! Everyone here is brilliant! H
Perfect ! > Words and images. Was this recorded recently ? I'm guessing the video images are specially chosen just now. (?)
🙏🏾💜🙏🏾
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Jeff Beck, 1 of 1
Thanks, Will. RIP, Jeff. I know too many dead people.
Really,
Yours is the only negative comment in here...
Maybe you should have kept that 1st world problem to yourself...
I dug the images of Jeff by the way...
Still not over his sudden death!
Oops
Posted on wrong person, my appology... That was for Gregory Davis...
Man, do I feel stupid!
♥️rip
Fantastic. What bass are you playing on this one?
Will, what year was this released?
This was released in 1994 as a track on Will's solo album "Oh!".
I'm not worthy....
Promo>SM
Sweet cover and Beck's solo is coolness. Don't understand why the video isn't him actually playing the tune. Why bother. It just takes away from the quality of it all.
After mistakenly leaving a reply to your belly button window comment on Patch Davis' comment, I am even more angered at your comment about Beck's image not playing the actual song...
I don't want to say more and ruin this beautiful rendition of this song...
So G. Davis, just go away!
❤
